For Urinary Tract Infection "Thank God for this shot! Doc had me on cephalexin, which only made it worse, and then Macrobid, which made me deathly sick. I couldn't take it anymore since I was pregnant and already miserable! OB gave me this shot in my right hip, and I couldn't feel better. Turns out I don't have any pregnancy symptoms, it was the urinary tract infection making me feel so awful! I felt better an hour after the shot and have been actually able to eat more than two bites of food since! Worth the burn and soreness afterwards."

For Urinary Tract Infection "10 weeks pregnant and found out I had a bladder infection/urinary tract infection. Doctor first prescribed Macro. Those were the worst 3 days ever. I could not stop throwing up. The smell of food made me nauseous. I was weak and did not move from the bed for 3 days, which is not like me at all. I am a very active person. I called the on-call doctor on Sunday night, and she told me to stop taking Macro and to come in tomorrow to get the Rocephin shot. I have to say just from one day of being off Macro, I already feel better but not 100%. I took the Rocephin shot and started to feel better little by little after 3 hours. I expected for the shot to hurt a lot. However, it only burned a little for a short period of time."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Second time posting, hoping it might help someone. Had symptoms of a UTI on Friday. Not happy all weekend. Got into the doctor this morning and had a shot. I still hate getting two shots in my bottom, but my doctor also insists on giving me a B12 shot when I see him because I am slightly anemic. I am not sure if it is because I am skinny, but Rocephin burns like heck and I am almost in tears getting it. Maybe I am just a wimp, but I don’t like needles getting stuck in me, and Rocephin is the worst! It is now around 3:00, and I have no symptoms. It works, and even though I dreaded the shot all weekend, I am glad I got it."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Tried posting this on my iPad yesterday and the day before, but it did not seem to post. I have been getting Rocephin injections for UTIs for about 10 years. Initially, after trying pill antibiotics over and over with little success, my OB recommended the shot. I am extremely needle-phobic and was very reluctant to agree to a shot in my butt, but convinced myself to suck it up. First, it is a little embarrassing to be bent over a table with a bare butt, next, the shot really hurts and burns. Your butt is sore for about 1 hour afterward. But it works. A few days ago, I had symptoms of a UTI and ignored them. My husband convinced me to stop being a baby and go get the shot! I finally gave in and saw my doctor. I received one Rocephin injection in my right cheek and a B12 shot in my other butt cheek. 5-6 hours later, I felt fine, although my bottom is still a little sore. I need to get over this fear of needles! Don't watch when they prepare it. But I would recommend this shot."

For Bacterial Infection "The Rocephin injection is so painful. It burns like crazy. Taking the shot 24 hours ago in my right butt cheek, but my butt is still sore that I can't sit down. Moreover, I got a painful red lump at the injection site. The doctor prescribed for me 4 Rocephin shots. I don't want to take the injection anymore."

For Bacterial Infection "Concerning painful injection of Rocephin: just ask the nurse to give it very, very slowly. This makes all the difference. If given very fast, you can hardly walk out of the office. Slowly, no problem, of course, it will burn a little going in, but not badly."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Fortunately, I don’t get UTIs very often, but when I get them, they’re extremely severe. I will feel one coming on, and then within an hour or two, I’m peeing blood, in severe pain, and going every few minutes. I was hit with one in the middle of the night four days ago and was left with no choice but to go to the ER. I was prescribed Macrobid, which has always helped me in the past, but a couple of days later, I felt that I was getting even worse. I went back to the ER yesterday morning, and they gave me an IV of Rocephin and switched my at-home antibiotics. It’s been almost 24 hours since my Rocephin dose, and I feel AMAZING. It helped the pelvic pain within maybe 4-6 hours. I woke up this morning, and it still burned to pee, but now that I’ve been up for a few hours, the burning is gone. I am so grateful for this miracle antibiotic. I finally feel like a human again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given Macrobid and Cipro first for my UTI at urgent care. Both made me throw up, even with Zofran, so I went back. The doctor gave me this shot. I got it in my buttock, and it didn't hurt at all. The liquid burned a little, but I mean biting my tongue hurts worse than that. Overall, I'm super happy because my symptoms are gone a lot faster than with antibiotic pills, which always upset my stomach anyways. I will be asking for this for every UTI I get moving forward."

For Bacterial Infection "Suffer with lower back pain, so I did not notice the kidney infection forming. Went to the ER as pain was increasing and moving to the flank right side. Turns out it was an acute right-sided kidney infection with stone blockage, as well as bladder involvement. This antibiotic was a serious lifesaver, as the pain was becoming intolerable. Within 24 hours, a marked improvement. For anyone with a reaction, it is related to penicillin, and if you have a reaction to penicillin, it’s not a medication you should have. Not a drug company issue, but an individual issue. Each medication can affect each individual differently, no way to foresee an issue from the drug company, but the treating physician should have warned that if you have a penicillin reaction, then this too will affect you. I was asked by the physician and went over allergies prior to injection. Fully informed on each medication I ever take. Highly recommend, the injection does have a real burn to it, worth the end result! Best of luck to all."
