For High Blood Pressure "I have been taking 4mg Candesartan for around 18 months along with 5mg Amlodipine taken at the same time of day. I used to take the ACE inhibitor Lisinopril but found the constant coughing and clearing of my throat too much, hence switching to Candesartan. To my utter disappointment, I found the coughing, clearing of my throat, along with wheezing in bed at night, did not go away. Now I am a 61-year-old ‘fit’ male who has never ever smoked and does a lot of mountain/fell walking etc. I decided to drop Candesartan altogether and can you believe my coughing has stopped by around 80%, so I am now torn at what to do next whether to see my GP and try something else or not. However, all this being said, I have not eliminated the Amlodipine yet, but I have researched on the web with an overall consensus that Amlodipine does ‘not’ cause upper respiratory problems or coughs. So I guess I have a little more experimenting to do yet. I hope this helps some of you."

For High Blood Pressure "Been on Candesartan for over a year. The side effects are terrible headaches, tingling of face and arm, insomnia, constant fatigue, dry cough, constant need of clearing throat. The list goes on! I don't recommend it!"

For High Blood Pressure "I have had a terrible time with this medication. Has not brought my blood pressure down. I have been having heart palpitations, sharp pains in my chest that are so severe I thought I was having a heart attack, also troubles breathing. I was fine on a lower dose with side effects, but it wasn't bringing my blood pressure down, so the doctor put it up to 24 mg from 8 mg. Also been coughing like crazy and troubles breathing. I hope other people have better luck with it. Just wanted to let people know if you're having these symptoms, that's what it is. Thanks."

For High Blood Pressure "I was taking three different blood pressure meds that I didn’t know where I was with them. I was taken off them all and started again at square one. I was put on Candesartan because Ramipril gave me a bad cough and felt like it never worked. Twelve years later, I started Candesartan, and my dose was 8 mg. I vomited three times during the start of Candesartan, but it wore off and got readings of 147/86, the lowest in years. At 16 mg, the reading was 132/78, so I was left on the dose. When I think of three, I was getting readings of 189/90! On this one pill, it is controlled."

For High Blood Pressure "I have only taken this drug at 8 mg for a week, but already have stuffy, burning nasal congestion issues. Also, post-nasal mucus causing a constant cough, especially at night. Heart rate is 15 points higher with a jittery feeling all day. Loopy, lightheaded, and exhaustion, which includes difficulty walking from seemingly weak legs. Was hopeful, as other ARBs give me migraines with auras. Will have to scratch this off my list too. Bad medication for me. Wish others would mention what alternative BP med is working for them."

For Heart Failure "Started on Candesartan 2 mg for reduced ejection fraction in the hopes that Entresto would be the next step. Day 1 - headache, lightheadedness. Day 3 - backache, abdominal cramps. Days 4-10 - dreadful volatile black tarry stools, fecal incontinence, runny nose, ears, cough, and tiredness. I persevered for 10 days, as everything I’d read said symptoms would subside, but they got worse. I’m confined to the house, can’t leave the toilet, so abandoned the drug."
