Buspirone for Anxiety "I started taking BuSpar for my anxiety, and it made me very dizzy and tired. It also made my arms tingle, and I started getting terrible headaches every time I took it. My anxiety just got worse while taking it because I was worried about the side effects it was causing."

For Anxiety "I have major panic problems and bad anxiety, as well as PTSD from a past traumatic experience. Unfortunately, this medication did not work for me. I have tried it a number of different times over a few years, and each time I suffered from bad headaches. I was recently prescribed Xanax and have found it beneficial for my anxiety. However, it leaves me feeling very tired and having a brain fog. I would not recommend driving while using it. I do not want to continue Xanax, as it can be addictive and the tiredness is affecting me. I will try to find an alternative medication that can help. In the meantime, I will keep Xanax on hand in case it is severely needed. Stay healthy!"

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "I was prescribed BuSpar for panic attacks. I started out on 5 mg twice a day. I was feeling great for a few weeks, and then once I was bumped up to 10 mg twice a day, I felt lousy. Constant headache around the eyes, drowsy, little appetite, and weak. I do not recommend taking this drug."

For Panic Disorder "I started taking this, and after about an hour and a half, I would start to feel very... odd. I didn’t understand it back then, but I realize now it was causing me to dissociate. Then, after an hour and a half of that, along with blurry vision, I would finally feel peace for a few hours, and then it would stop, and it would be time to take another one. Then, at about four days, the peace stopped coming, and it was just constant dissociation and extreme nightmares, which messed up my sleep, bad headaches, and I was constantly tired. I had an 8-hour panic attack because I woke up to racing thoughts, I was in the weirdest negative mindset, that’s never happened to me before. I couldn’t stop crying and had to go into work like that! I quit after that. Buspirone made my anxiety even worse because of how distressing this week was for me, this was the worst decision I made yet for my mental health. I was just dealing with anxiety, and this made me feel like a lunatic! Taking no other meds!"

Buspirone for Anxiety "On the first two days of BuSpar, I had constipation, then nightmares all night long. Like the worst nightmare of your life every night. Brain zaps. Waking up, laying there. Apathy. Borderline nausea all day. Headaches. Then started to feel like someone was tapping on my brain. Had enough when I started crying uncontrollably."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I started the medication for my anxiety and bipolar. The first dose was not bad, but the second dose took me 2 hours before I could get up, I was so dizzy and lightheaded. It made my panic attacks worse and I felt so spaced out. I have a terrible headache that keeps coming and going."

For Anxiety "I started Buspar 2 days ago. I'm not sure if it is working. My personal situation is creating chaos in my life, and anxiety and panic attacks are everyday occurrences. I'm having serious problems being able to sleep after 2 a.m. (always woke up and can't go back to sleep). Today I'm trembling and have a terrible headache, nausea, and tiredness. I don't know if I should continue this med or stop it before I get worse. Can anybody experience these side effects in the first days and then get better? I don't know what to do, and I can't stand still."

For Anxiety "I started 10 mg today, and I feel so loopy. My mouth is very dry, and I'm kind of anxious, and my head is hurting after 1 dose. I don't know if I will take a 2nd dose. I was prescribed 10 mg 2x a day."

Buspirone for Anxiety "For the past 2-3 years, I have been on and off Lexapro/Ativan for anxiety and Wellbutrin for quitting smoking. I stopped taking Lexapro about a year ago with excellent results. I basically just felt great and didn't need to take it anymore. I continued taking Wellbutrin (daily) and Ativan (as needed). Then I stopped taking both of those about 6 months ago because I was feeling great. Well, my anxiety started up again several months ago, and I got back on Wellbutrin and Ativan, which have always helped me tremendously. However, I wanted to stop relying on the benzo (Ativan) and therefore started taking BuSpar. I have got nothing from it besides dizziness and a headache. I have been taking BuSpar for about 2 months. I am starting Lexapro again."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I was on this medication for 4 weeks. I took 7.5 mg x2 daily the first 2 weeks, then 7.5 mg x 3 daily for the last 2 weeks. The first week on this was BRUTAL. Highly increased anxiety, headaches, lightheadedness, and a general feeling of being 'off.' The side effects did get better, but the medicine just never took hold and worked at all for me. Didn’t put a dent in my anxiety. Doctor prescribed me an actual SSRI."

For Anxiety "This medication buspirone was recommended to me for anxiety after taking Lamictal for around 6 months. During that time my depression got better but anxiety got worse. To combat this, my doctor put me on 10mg twice a day. Unfortunately, my anxiety appears to have gotten even worse, and the side effects have been terrible even after 2 months. Sensations of dizziness, headache, disorientation, and disassociation occurred daily. Almost always twice a day, but sometimes up to 4 times lasting 30-45 minutes but at most 2 hours. Abdominal pains, loss of appetite also. Physiological panic attacks have occurred daily as well. I don't act anxious but my body is seething. Heart rate, heated flushedness, agitation, fear, uncontrollable inner narrative, etc. I feel awful on it and fear after quarantine this side effects will be detrimental for my job in commercial electric work with large machinery and power tools."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I wouldn’t say this medicine is horrible, but it didn’t help me. I feel like this is for people with very mild anxiety. My anxiety is very high, so it only helped a little. It made me dizzy and gave me a headache. I tried it for 8 days and stopped. I’m now on Zoloft 25mg and really liking it so far."

For Anxiety "Used to treat anxiety. Buspirone actually intensified my anxiety levels as well as delivered an almost instantaneous headache as soon as I'd ingest it. I wake up in the morning ready to take my Buspar and have to ask myself if I want a headache or not. Not a happy camper."

For Anxiety "Took 1 dose today for the first time, and I felt dizzy instantly and was out of it for the first hour. Within that hour, I ate dinner. I felt okay, but I experienced this sharp pain in my head that was worse than a migraine. The pain was excruciating. I really hope it's just a small side effect; otherwise, if I take it again tomorrow and I get this headache again, I'm not taking it anymore. So many side effects. Medical marijuana might help."

For Anxiety "I've been on 15 mg 2x daily for one week now. After taking Xanax for years, I tried to stop and ended up having a seizure and was hospitalized for a few days. The doctors there prescribed me the buspirone, and I have not experienced any anxiety so far. I am now sleeping through the night, which was a huge concern for me since I was going days with little to zero sleep. Only problem now is I could sleep all day! And I constantly have a dull headache. I try to ignore it and carry on, but it's there all the time. I don't want to go back to benzos, but they seem to have the best results. I'll check back in a month with an update."

For Anxiety "I’ve been taking Buspar for nearly 4 weeks now, and I will admit that my fear and anxiety towards certain situations have gotten a lot better. However, the other side effects were not worth continuing the medications. Trouble sleeping - insomnia, constant headaches especially when waking up, pain in head when sneezing, coughing, or “pushing,” moments of extreme crying for no reason, getting sick after eating (although could be contributed to my diabetes), spacing out, slurred speech, sudden vaginal bleeding (haven’t had a period for months), body tremors. I have decided to stop using this medication on behalf of everything else being affected by it."

For Anxiety "Just started buspirone 10 mg twice a day. For years, I have been on Celexa, bupropion, and clonazepam. Those three worked for me, but my doc suggests that instead of taking clonazepam daily, I should try buspirone for long-term use and clonazepam for when my panic attacks are truly out of control. So far, the drug combination has had no major negative interactions. I take the buspirone with food. The first two days in, I had pretty bad headaches. About two weeks in now, and tonight I'm having severe dizziness, which is making me nauseous. I'm definitely going to keep going on them, though. I love my clonazepam (Klonopin). It's almost instant relief during an attack, but after reading about it extensively and talking with my two docs, I'm ready to get off of it."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I am taking the BuSpar, but it makes me feel too relaxed and gives me worse anxiety. My whole body is tingly, and I have a huge headache. I don't have anything else to take, but I am so afraid to take it. It is Saturday, I can't get ahold of my doctor. I just don't know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any ideas?"

For Panic Disorder "I take buspirone 45 mg a day... highest dose. I truly believe this is a placebo and the doctors just fake you out. All it really does is cause headaches when you forget to take it on time."

For Anxiety "I've been on Buspar 15 days now. I can't say as of yet if it has helped a lot or not. It's not bad, but I have noticed certain things I go through that I'm not sure if it's side effects or just my anxiety. Like I feel drowsy about 30 minutes after. I've noticed a tingly or itchy sensation in my hands, feet, and arms (at different times). Also, more headaches than before I started Buspar. Lightheadedness, even though I've felt that way before taking it. Upset stomach or nausea. Sharp sensations in different places. Oh yes, and definitely noticed weird dreams. The reason I rate a five is that I do feel like it brings a calmness over me and my racing thoughts aren't so bad, and after the first week, I can see that it keeps me tired more, and I do sleep better."

For Anxiety "Diagnosed with having anxiety, depression, and PTSD (raped a year prior and recently lost my husband while 6 months pregnant). I take 10 mg 2x daily. The problems I have been facing have eased up significantly. At first, I had no side effects, so it was a win-win. Now, after taking it for 3 months, I have many side effects, and I am going to stop taking it. The side effects I have been experiencing are headache, weak feeling, intense sugar cravings, hair loss, slow response, extreme anger, and weight gain. I was losing weight after my pregnancy, exercising, and felt very healthy. Now, on buspirone, I have gained weight in odd places like my face. I find myself wanting to binge eat, which I hardly even did while pregnant. Slowness and extreme anger were deal breakers."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I'm 31-year-old female, and have been taking BuSpar for anxiety and panic for three months, and have decided to discontinue. It took roughly 3 weeks before I noticed a difference. I am slower to irritate, less agitated, and can better manage the constant nagging sensation of anxiety. I've been sleeping better, but really require a full night's sleep or else I'm drowsy all day. And I've been more at ease with new people. These changes have certainly been positive but minimal. Lately, every day, 2 times a day about 20 minutes after my dose (10mg twice a day) I would get a ringing headache, body shocks, and dizziness or nausea. I thought this would go away, but it hasn't, and it is getting to the point that my anxiety level is increasing."

For Anxiety "The worst pill I've ever taken, made me very angry, plus gave me stomach aches and really bad headaches. Also made my anxiety worse."
