Buspirone for Anxiety "I started taking it over a month ago, and it hasn't helped my anxiety at all. My hands and legs are shaky, I am constantly dizzy, have a hard time focusing, and my stomach is upset a lot."

For Panic Disorder "Just got this medication from the doctor yesterday. He gave me 10 mg tablets and told me to take them 3 times a day. This morning I took my first one. I got so light-headed and dizzy I had to lie down. Then I got nauseous. I was so light-headed I felt like I was having an out-of-body experience. I couldn't get up from bed for four hours, and even then I was still extremely light-headed for another three hours. Needless to say, I didn't take the other two pills that day."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I started taking BuSpar for my anxiety, and it made me very dizzy and tired. It also made my arms tingle, and I started getting terrible headaches every time I took it. My anxiety just got worse while taking it because I was worried about the side effects it was causing."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I was hoping this medicine would help with my anxiety and depression, but it made me feel terrible. I took my 1st dose at night, a low dose of 7.5, then again in the morning... about an hour later... I was so dizzy, almost fainted. My husband was wondering what was wrong with me. I lay down in my bed and stayed there till all these feelings went away. Didn't work for me!"

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "I have been taking this medicine now for about 8-9 months. When I started taking it, it took about 4 weeks before it started working. It helped a lot with the anxiety and panic attacks for about 3-4 months, then it just stopped working. I was on 25 mg a day in the end. Tried increasing the dose, but it doesn't help. It's like a sugar pill. I have now tapered off the medicine for almost two months, and I promise that for me it has been worse to stop taking this medicine than with withdrawal from Xanax. I took Xanax for 4-5 months and maybe had withdrawal for 2 weeks. I have had a withdrawal from this buspirone medicine since the day I started tapering it. Withdrawal symptoms like tremors, dizziness, passing out, cold sweat, dissociation, panic attacks, nightmares, flu symptoms, and much more. I am now down to one a day, 5 mg. Hope it gets better soon. Everyone reacts differently to medication and withdrawal. Some get side effects and others don't, this is just my experience."

For Anxiety "Took buspirone, 20 mg/day, for four months, for general anxiety. Have been taking lamotrigine also for one year and five months. Initial buspirone side effects: prolonged haziness, nausea (disappeared after +/- 10 days), fatigue. Over time, experienced a general calming effect. Downside: a lot of undesirable, sedative effects. Lack of focus, slowness to absorb information, poor impulse control, short-term memory loss. Physical side effects: tinnitus, dizzy spells, loss of balance, loss of appetite, weight gain, muscle cramps. Consumption of even small amounts of alcohol led to blackouts and (uncharacteristic) volatile outbursts. Work performance declined quickly, conflicts at home emerged. Stopping this medication led to improvements in productivity, focus, impulse control, physical energy/stamina, memory. Brief periods of tension also re-emerged."

For Anxiety "Was prescribed buspirone 5 mg once a day, then bumped up to 10 mg twice a day after one month. I don’t feel like it did anything for me, and I had the worst nightmares while taking it. Doctors say that it’s normal to feel dizzy for a few minutes after you first take it, but for me, it was like throughout the day I constantly would get a head rush and feel like I was going to pass out. Recently, I was told to try to take it again after I stopped taking it due to the side effects. I guess we will see how the second time goes."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I was on this medication for two weeks and noticed absolutely no positive effect. However, within those two weeks, I gained 8 pounds, had an erratic heartbeat, and about 20-30 minutes after taking a pill, I got extremely dizzy and lightheaded to the point I couldn’t even drive. This is just my experience and my body chemistry, but my ultimate opinion is it’s just another failed attempt to prevent prescribing Benzos. Hope any of this helps."

For Anxiety "I used to take this for anxiety, and it worked great, besides making me tired, but otherwise no side effects. I got a refill recently because my anxiety came back, and this makes me extremely dizzy and like I’m on a roller coaster minutes after taking it. Not sure if the filler ingredients changed or something, but I cannot take this unless I want to be laying in bed for hours after."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Because of trouble being prescribed Klonopin by doctors, I decided to wean off this medicine. I was on 1.5 mg daily for 25 years, and it took me 6 months to get it out of my system. My new doctor prescribed BuSpar in a low dose at first, and then 10 mg three times daily. Two months before I finished Klonopin, all my troubles came back with a vengeance. I developed tinnitus, my voice was weak and slurred. BuSpar gave me very bad dizziness, bad balance, heaviness in my upper trunk and my legs. I was on BuSpar for 2 months, and I put up with these horrible side effects hoping that time would make them go away. I decided to go back to Klonopin, and after 2 days, I was a new man. I also take Zoloft. I’m not saying that all my problems are over, but at least I can go by and have my daily walks with no problems. BuSpar works for most, but not for me. Good luck, guys."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I started the medication for my anxiety and bipolar. The first dose was not bad, but the second dose took me 2 hours before I could get up, I was so dizzy and lightheaded. It made my panic attacks worse and I felt so spaced out. I have a terrible headache that keeps coming and going."

For Anxiety "I went on buspirone Jan 10, it is now the 30th. 20 days of half being good, but the last week I have had the worst panic attacks ever in my life being on this stuff. 7.5 mg x 2 twice a day. Heart palps, panic attacks, coldness, dizziness, tired eyes, back and chest muscles are tight, especially in between doses, yet everyone said wait the 3 weeks, no thank you! Today is the last day. Anxiety hasn't improved, and a massive panic attack almost sent me to the E.R. tonight, they were more constant on this stuff! I have had 4 attacks in my life, this week it's been 4/5 per day, every other day. Idk, tonight I thought I was going to lose my mind after I took them. The ending point was I could feel the meds kick in, but this last attack was so severe, it scared me. I know it was a weird reaction to these meds, 'cause now that it is out of my system, I feel fine. This drug is horrible."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Overall, waste of money long term because it only works for a few weeks. Exercise and meditation will be more beneficial. However, if you're doing exposure therapy in addition to, those few weeks the medicine is working may help you overcome the initial hurdle. Initial side effects were dizziness and terrible fatigue. Only lasted first 3-4 days, then you could feel the medicine start working. BuSpar only worked for two weeks though. Regardless, I took it 4-5 months while still having regular anxiety attacks. I started tapering off last week, and thankfully no withdrawal symptoms (not like Xanax). That is at least a plus."

For Anxiety "My doctor put me on this medicine on 2-17-2017 twice a day at 7.5 mg for my anxiety and stress levels. Today is 2-20-2017, and I'm already having issues. I ended up getting extremely lightheaded, heart racing, sweating, and dizzy all in the matter of five minutes. I went to go to the bathroom so I could try and feel better. Next time I remember, I was on the floor lying in a pool of my own vomit. At that time, I had no idea what was going on, what had happened, or anything. I ended up having a bad seizure. I was locked in place for five minutes, not breathing properly, and throwing up everywhere. I was extremely confused and exhausted, like I had just run a marathon. Went to bed and had another one six hours later."

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "Took BuSpar for the first time yesterday. My PTSD has been growing into agoraphobia slowly, and it has been debilitating. Started 7.5 mg of the BuSpar, and not even an hour later, I was walking like a drunk, felt like my entire body was being zapped if I moved my neck or head. I was so dizzy I had to take a nap. Decided maybe I'd be better with the nighttime dose. Took it before bed, fell asleep, and woke up every two hours. Ended up wetting the bed (not an issue I've had ever) and still too damned dizzy to get up. I'm in my mid-twenties. This medication doesn't help me, and I'd rather stay on the Clonazepam."

For Anxiety "I really wanted this to work! Buspar (5 mg twice daily) was added to my Wellbutrin to help with anxiety. Immediately noticed mild insomnia, incredibly vivid and intense dreams when I could sleep. Daily diarrhea, bloating, and bouts of vertigo. I made it 4 weeks without improvement in side effects and was forced to discontinue."

For Anxiety "I started taking this at 10 mg a week ago. My doctor told me to take it twice a day, but usually I take it once a day when I'm at home. This is because after taking it, I feel extremely dizzy, sick, sleepy, and out of it, so I can't take it at work or school (even though those are the two places I need it the most). I hate it, and I'm not sure what to do. It does help my anxiety, but I would rather be anxious than feel sick, dizzy, and sleepy and in my own world."

For Anxiety "This medicine was very strange. I started taking 15 mg a day. I had no side effects, save for a bit of dizziness that goes away after 20 minutes. I reacted so well to it, I thought I could ask the doctor to increase the dose since I still felt anxious well after increasing to 30 mg. I totally felt like not myself. Felt like a zombie, brain fog, spaced out, memory issues, very sluggish, violent and intrusive thoughts, and suicidal ideation."

Buspirone for Anxiety "For the past 2-3 years, I have been on and off Lexapro/Ativan for anxiety and Wellbutrin for quitting smoking. I stopped taking Lexapro about a year ago with excellent results. I basically just felt great and didn't need to take it anymore. I continued taking Wellbutrin (daily) and Ativan (as needed). Then I stopped taking both of those about 6 months ago because I was feeling great. Well, my anxiety started up again several months ago, and I got back on Wellbutrin and Ativan, which have always helped me tremendously. However, I wanted to stop relying on the benzo (Ativan) and therefore started taking BuSpar. I have got nothing from it besides dizziness and a headache. I have been taking BuSpar for about 2 months. I am starting Lexapro again."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I began on 5 mg in the morning and at night. I became extremely dizzy, flush, and sleepy. I lowered the dosage and got tingles all over my body. I would touch something and the tingles would run up my arm and then up to my head. After a few weeks, I became enraged and could not control my anxiety. I stopped using the drug and got a few migraines, but the rage is gone."
