"I have been prescribed buspirone for relieving the possible side effects of bupropion, which I take to help me stop smoking. I have taken only 5 mg in the evening, and the whole night was just a horrible nightmare. I have never felt so dizzy, irritated, confused, and awful. The whole night I was sweating and suffered from nightmares, I even could not get out of my bed in the morning, and I had terrible coordination problems the next day. Maybe for some people it is a helpful medicine, but in my case, it was a horrible experience. Be careful with this medicine and do not use it unless you have no other choice."

For Anxiety "Buspirone was completely ineffective for my anxiety and panic attacks, made me dizzy, and made my wrists and hands very sore. Did nothing for anxiety or panic attacks."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Was hesitant to take this pill after reading all the reviews and then finally decided to give it a try. HUGE mistake. My mind felt like it was getting electrocuted. I felt dizzy, lightheaded, and it was extremely unpleasant. I called my doctor immediately! I ended up forcing myself to take a nap, and when I woke up, thankfully they had subsided. It’s been about an hour since I awoke, and I feel extremely tired and exhausted! I do not recommend this if you are highly sensitive to medication!"

For Panic Disorder "This is the 3rd day of taking Buspar. I was instructed to take 5 mg, 3X a day. The first one I took was okay for about 30 min... then the nausea hit, dizziness, severe ringing in my ears, and no choice but to go to bed, and then nightmares. So far in 3 days, I've only taken three of the 5 mg, and I'm no better. I've taken Xanax for a severe panic disorder, 1 mg, 3X a day, and that's the only thing that's ever worked for me. I've been on every antidepressant with no results. I'm wondering if I will get better on the Buspar. Any feedback is certainly appreciated because I really would like to get off Xanax, even though it's the only thing that relieves my panic attacks."

For Anxiety "This drug gave me a paradoxical reaction and made my anxiety and panic worse. It made me dizzy all the time. Did not work for me."

Buspirone for Anxiety "My doctor gave me this medicine, BuSpar, for anxiety. I have very bad side effects: a heavy headache, my neck hurts, my mouth and throat are so dry, and I am starting to cough. Very dizzy. I have a horrible experience."

For Anxiety "Was on a low dose of 5 mg of buspirone twice a day, then increased to 10 mg, I never actually took the 10 mg because my side effects were too bad. First of all, it did nothing for the anxiety, but it did make me more moody and irritable (probably because it made me feel so crappy). Had vivid, terrible lucid dreams at first, but that went away after a week. I had a constant headache that didn't go away, was more tired, very dizzy, nauseous, yet had cravings, had to pee all the time, hot flashes and sweating, insomnia, also felt achy. Doctor wants to prescribe this instead of benzos, but I don't have any of those side effects with benzos, and they actually do something for the anxiety!"

For Borderline Personality Disorder "I am currently on mirtazapine and trazodone, have been for a long time. GP placed me on buspirone, two 5 mg daily. This is a horrible drug to start, I experienced 2 weeks of really bad side effects: extreme agitation, low mood, dizziness. I had read similar reviews about this, so persevered for 2 weeks. After this, I felt a lot calmer and a lot less anxious, which was great. However, 3 months later, they reversed the effect, I started having panic attacks and my anxiety went through the roof. I came off them, with minimal discontinuation effects. I went to see my PSC today, and he told me he was glad I did. Apparently, they have been sold as a great alternative to diazepam without the addiction. However, he said medics are now becoming aware that these are actually habit forming. My advice: stay away."

For Anxiety "I have been on this medication since October 2018. Originally given 10 mg twice per day. Could not function at all. I got dizzy and tired. Had to leave work one day. Could not sleep at night. Told my doctor and his answer was 'take NyQuil.' Decided myself to taper to 15 mg and at night only. Did that for a while. Recently, it seemed to just get worse. I have worked down to 10 mg for now, but after reading reviews, I am ready to quit. I had a few panic attacks recently, and I can't go on like this. Overall, I felt dizzy, tired, spacey, more anxious, and it completely changed my diet. I also think it gave me stomach issues."

For Anxiety "Took buspar for 6 days at 5 mg three times a day. I stopped taking it because it made me feel 4x worse. The medication made me feel suicidal, dizzy, light-headed, it ruined my appetite, gave me insomnia, and hallucinations. 7 weeks later I’m still feeling some of these symptoms! This medication has ruined my life, stay away."

For Anxiety "I live in an area where there are a lot of drug addicts, so they didn't want to prescribe me a benzo. I took this because my PTSD had been so out of control. I was hopeful, but slowly realized my anxiety was 100 times worse on it. I kept taking it, thinking maybe it just wasn't kicking in yet. Next thing I knew, I was scared to go to the store, and I felt like people were watching me when I was alone in my house. I'd check and double-check my windows were closed. My vision would vibrate, and I felt dizzy and constantly dehydrated with a headache. It was absolutely terrible. I weaned myself off of it because I couldn't wait for my next psych appointment. Now I'm back to just taking my Lamictal, and I feel loads better. Did nothing for me when it came to panic attacks. I need something I can take as needed."

For Panic Disorder "Yes, I started taking Buspar, and I had so many side effects: bad taste in my mouth, dizziness, chest pains, unable to make yes or no decisions, fever, unable to do daily tasks, so sick I can't even describe: vomiting, twitching, ears ringing, high-pitched. Now that I have to wean myself off of this medication that made me literally crazy in the head, where I'm talking to myself and swearing at people in my head. I still can't get my head straight on this drug. It is a nightmare. You will be doing things, putting soap and conditioner in the freezer, you can't think clearly, you go crazy out of your head. Whoever takes this, you'll go nuts. Oh, and you'll lose your appetite and won't eat for days, and you're walking around talking to yourself like one of the crazy people."

For Anxiety "This medicine may work well for some people, but I wanted to share my experience because it wasn’t pleasant. After 2 weeks of taking buspirone, I thought I was going to die. One morning at work, I noticed heart palpitations, then got extremely dizzy and almost passed out three times before a coworker brought me to urgent care. I stayed very dizzy with severe anxiety/panic attacks that lasted for a week. I had to miss several days of work. This was the first time I had experienced anything like this."

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "I was initially started on BuSpar 5mg twice a day for panic disorder and PTSD as my therapist said I could not stay on Klonopin at her practice. I tried the 5mg twice a day for 2 weeks, then she increased it to 10mg twice a day, which I took for a month. I ended up with severe heart palpitations, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, and feeling like I was going to pass out, in addition to my blood pressure being raised. I ended up on a heart monitor, seeing a cardiologist, in addition to other heart-related tests all because my therapist is dead set on taking me off Klonopin. I've been on 1mg of Klonopin since 2008 and take it only as needed, mostly once a panic attack begins. I will never take BuSpar again, as I have been off of it now for about a week after all those symptoms and they are almost all gone now. Just wanted to share some of my side effects in case anyone else out there is having the same because I had a difficult time finding someone with the same side effects."

For Anxiety "I was put on this medication for anxiety, and man, do I regret it. I have only taken this medication for one day and cannot stop vomiting. I have the sweats, my skin is clammy, I'm very dizzy, I am very weak. I have tried eating chicken noodle soup and sipping on a Powerade, and I can already feel that wanting to come back up! No way will I continue this! It may work for some, but I can't even make it past day one..."

Buspirone for Anxiety "My doctor prescribed BuSpar 5 mg 3x daily as I eased off Effexor. The Effexor worked great, except for the sexual side effects and the hardcore addiction. I have nothing good to say about BuSpar. I thought I was losing my mind. Felt severely unbalanced. Nauseated. Confused. Thirsty. Insomnia. You name it! My endocrinologist thought I might be diabetic because of family history. No, it was all the BuSpar. Why should something that is supposed to help generalized anxiety make you feel like you are losing it? I ended up slowly getting off of Effexor and pitching the BuSpar. I need something for generalized anxiety, but I am scared of another bad trip."

For Anxiety "Have been taking 5 mg twice a day for the last 4 days, stopped taking it today. It was like I had drunk 6 Red Bulls. Jittery, sweating, dizzy, nauseous, twitching. The Wellbutrin I take is awesome, not a single side effect, but needed something more for some anxiety. But I had to stop taking this, just way too gnarly even for a bigger guy like me."

Buspirone for Anxiety "This medication did not work for my anxiety. BuSpar actually allowed my anxiety to increase with severe insomnia and vivid dreams. It also caused severe stomach and intestinal problems. I also experienced dizziness, irritability, and incoordination. There are other symptoms from BuSpar, these are the main ones that caused me to stop taking the drug."

For Anxiety "Started taking the lowest dose. When that seemed ineffective, the doctor upped the dosage a few times. The entire time I was on the medication, I had horrible dizzy spells. I had to time my taking it just right so I would be able to drive to work safely. At first, I felt better. I was hoping this was the medicine that would help me with my anxiety. I had hoped my body would 'get used to it' and the dizziness would eventually end. That never happened. I gave it a full year (I know now how ridiculous that was). During this time period, I also had really negative thoughts that I absolutely believe were linked to the medication. I have been off of it and on a different medication for almost a year now and can finally see what it was doing to me."

For Anxiety "Prescribed 7.5 mg twice a day, to eventually move up to 15 mg. The first dose made me so dizzy and lightheaded that I had to lie down. I tried just one small dose for a few days after, kept getting dizzy spells and feeling faint. Actually increased anxiety because I was so worried about the side effects."

For Anxiety "Fainting spell. About 30 minutes after taking this, for about 15 minutes my heart would race (~135 bpm?), and I would feel as if I were about to faint (head rush?). I would spend 15 minutes trying to remain calm, fighting the urge to collapse. I tried it twice and had the same response. Thank goodness I wasn't driving when it kicked in. My wife had a similar reaction. Seriously, please be cautious when first trying this medication."

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "Probably the worst drug ever made. No help at all from panic attacks or anxiety. Tried the drug for months and all I got from it was vertigo."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Nope! I was prescribed BuSpar 15 mg at a dose of 1 tablet 3 times a day. A nightmare for sure. After the first few initial days and it getting in my system, that nightmare began! Side effects of not sleeping over 3-4 hours a night. Shaking inside and out, dizzy and faint, full-blown panic attacks, pacing the floor, and body having to keep moving to stop that feeling of jumping out of my skin (Akathisia)!! Tried BuSpar for 3 weeks and gained 9 lbs and more anxiety than before."
