Buspirone for Anxiety "This stuff isn't for me. I took BuSpar 7.5 mg for two weeks and said enough. 15-20 mins after taking it, I felt like I was on an elevator moving up and down at warp speed. It made my anxiety much worse, and it made me super angry. If I took my prescribed Adderall with it, then I was so annoyed, terrible mood, anxious, and tense. Even without the Adderall, this made me tense and made my jaws clench. It gave me increased body tension and unusable energy. I was always wanting to run a marathon but didn’t actually have the energy to run. I’ve been off it for 5 days, and I’m still detoxing. Never again."

For Anxiety "I suffer from PMDD, a debilitating neuroendocrine disease now listed in the ICD-11. It's a genetic defect in the brain that causes an allergic autoimmune response to my own changing hormones. It cripples me during my luteal phase, 14 days every month. Psychological symptoms include paranoia, rage, lethargic exhaustion, mind-numbing brain fog, feeling intensely overwhelmed, uncontrollable crying, obsessive thoughts, suicidal ideation, self-loathing, disassociation, general anxiety and panic attacks, intense food cravings, insomnia, decreased libido, nightmares, etc. I was prescribed Buspar for the anxiety, initially at 5mg twice a day. 2-3 months later raised to 10mg twice a day. And currently at 15mg twice a day. It does nothing for my anxiety. My doctors do not want to take me off it as I'm also on Wellbutrin XL 450mg. They say that the Wellbutrin might increase my anxiety without the Buspar. Anyway, bottom line: Buspar does nothing for me at all. Very disappointing."

Buspirone for Anxiety "After reading all the negative reviews, I feel relieved to know I'm not alone. A few days ago was the three-month mark of when I started BuSpar for anxiety. I've been on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and prescribed Lexapro, and that was a big no (I didn't even take it after reading reviews). All SSRIs affected my mind in weird ways, and I never knew if my feelings were my own or from the drugs. I stopped everything except Xanax, as it works miracles. However, it's hard to get a hold of Xanax anymore. I started BuSpar, and the last three months I have not slept once unless I had a drink or smoked. I would not even sleep for 10 minutes on days on end. My anxiety was worse, barely felt any emotions, had no motivation for anything, and was always tired with a foggy mind (feeling of not being present). I just stopped cold turkey, so I'm hoping BuSpar was the cause and things go back to normal. I recommend finding a psychiatrist who will prescribe Xanax."

Buspirone for Anxiety "BuSpar should be classified as a hallucinogenic drug! I took it for one day (15 mg) with Zoloft to get off Ativan. It made me lightheaded, nauseous, nervous, speedy, and when I tried to sleep, I saw terrible images moving around in my head. I couldn't sleep at all! These awful hallucinations gave me panic attacks. I was so scared! I also had some uncontrolled jerky movements of my limbs when lying down. I called the nurse line for help because I could not reach my psychiatrist. This experience was a nightmare! I also read an FDA report that stated that BuSpar can cause Tardive Dyskinesia, uncontrolled involuntary jerking movements of the face and body. Who wants that? Do not take it!"

For Anxiety "Buspar worked great for about two weeks. Now I feel very spaced out, irritable. I kept having muscle spasms and panic attacks from it. My anxiety got way worse, and mentally and physically I feel awful from this. I didn't take any today and felt 20 times better, although I still have a very weird body high from it. It is making me feel really nauseous, lightheaded, dizzy, made me paranoid, and made my PTSD way worse. I'll never take this stuff again. I just want to feel halfway normal again."

For Anxiety "I was on this for half a year, and it did nothing for me. I have bipolar II, this medication made my depression worse and anxiety so high. Whenever I tried to nap during the day, my heart was racing, it felt like I was having a panic attack. The doctor put me at 15 mg 3x a day, I only took it once. I felt it wasn’t working. Then today, I just stopped, I can feel the difference-so much happier, less anxiety, not depressed as much, or hopeless. It works for some people, but to me, I felt this medication was a huge scam. I was so lightheaded I had to lay down and had a panic attack at the same time-never trying this again. Terrible medication trying to act like a benzo."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Horrible! Was almost working and then, boom! Hyped up my anxiety and OCD, worry, and panic. My doctor said to stay with it a few more weeks. Started to get depressed and very sad. Beware! It might work for some, but for the ones it doesn't, it is a dangerous drug!"

For Anxiety "The third week on buspirone for anxiety, and I developed side effects of tachycardia, didn’t sleep more than 3 hours/night. I also developed tremors, fever, muscle aches, bone pain. I also developed chest pain and pressure. It became so bad I was close to fainting constantly. I thought my thyroid problems had come back. At the end of the third week, I went to the doctor who told me to immediately discontinue. I had an ECG, which was normal, and so was my thyroid. But it was the worst experience I had with a medication, and I had become so exhausted and confused I didn’t realize I had to stop until the doctor told me so. Please be careful with this medication. If it works for you, that’s wonderful. However, if you start developing weird symptoms, go talk to your doctor right away. I stopped taking it 4 days ago and am now experiencing withdrawal symptoms: depression, lots of anxiety, extreme lethargy, nausea, even flu-like symptoms, but I know it will pass."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Nope! I was prescribed BuSpar 15 mg at a dose of 1 tablet 3 times a day. A nightmare for sure. After the first few initial days and it getting in my system, that nightmare began! Side effects of not sleeping over 3-4 hours a night. Shaking inside and out, dizzy and faint, full-blown panic attacks, pacing the floor, and body having to keep moving to stop that feeling of jumping out of my skin (Akathisia)!! Tried BuSpar for 3 weeks and gained 9 lbs and more anxiety than before."

For Panic Disorder "I recently had a head injury and suffered some brain trauma. I’ve never been depressed or had anxiety before, but since my accident, I suffer really badly now. The doctor gave me amitriptyline to help me sleep, but I still suffer anxiety during the day. I was asked if I would like to try an antidepressant. I declined, so the doctor gave me buspirone to try. I took two 10 mg tablets before my usual dosage of amitriptyline. Later that night, I started freaking out, no idea why. I felt like I was on a trip, and I was going insane! Eventually, it calmed down after me making insane calls to my friends, telling them I was losing it! I haven’t taken a single pill since. I still take amitriptyline for sleep, but I’d rather be anxious than go through that night of insanity again."

For Anxiety "It has literally been the worst experience of my life going on this drug. I went from feeling normal to all of a sudden having what felt like low blood pressure, shaking, and jittery. I hope others out there that are feeling like that know that it's the medication and not their body collapsing."

For Anxiety "Was prescribed buspirone 10 mg by my Dr for anxiety. Ended up just making it worse by making me feel drunk or high and very anxious. Would not recommend, would rather deal with the lack of sex drive on Paxil."

Buspirone for Anxiety "BuSpar is the worst drug I have ever taken. It was prescribed several years ago for anxiety to cope with an upcoming surgery and the health risks associated with it. Prior to BuSpar, I had never taken any depression medicine nor struggled with extreme anxiety. I exercised often and was not taking medicine for any other health issue. BuSpar sent me into a horrible, deep pit of despair, unlike I had ever known or could even imagine anyone having. The doctor kept telling me it would take a while to work, but after two weeks, BuSpar never did. I got off of it and, while still anxious about surgery, had no more extreme depression. The despair caused by BuSpar was far worse than the surgery. If I had to choose, I would gladly have that surgery again rather than take another round of BuSpar. Seriously, be careful with this drug."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I wish I had realized how individual all of these meds are to our bodies (work great for some, horribly for others). I started buspirone and soon was dealing with really dark, horrible thoughts, extreme anxiety, etc. The mental/emotional reactions were nearly unbearable for me. Will it be the same for everyone? Obviously not. However, I realized after starting this med that it pays to take a minute to think through med changes before just jumping on board when a medical professional suggests something... even with the hopes of feeling a little bit better."

For Anxiety "Been taking buspirone 10 mg 3x daily for 3 weeks. I've had no positive or negative effects. Doesn't seem to work for many people. I've also tried Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, Prozac, Remeron (this is the worst), trazodone, and benzos. SSRIs cause weird side effects and also cause sexual dysfunction. Benzos are awful as they make your anxiety worse in the long run, and the withdrawal is never-ending. Buspirone seems like garbage right now."

Buspirone for Anxiety "If I could give this medication a rating of 0, I would. Took this for 8 months. 5 mg three times a day. It took my anxiety away at first, but then everything got much, much worse. The doctor told me to double my dose since panic was coming back into my life. This drug made me feel high and very uncomfortable. It made my panic attacks worse than they had ever been. I began getting very confused and unaware of places I was at. I began getting panic attacks every single day and started missing work. I decided to quit cold turkey. Couldn’t get out of bed for days. My brain had a constant fog over it. It took a solid week to where I felt normal again. I would never recommend this drug to anyone. Stopping this medication was the best thing I could have ever done."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I started taking BuSpar 12/13/2018. 10 mg twice daily, one at bedtime, along with a host of other medications including Klonopin for a chronic nerve pain condition, Percocet for arthritis, fibromyalgia, and a ton of other stuff, Topamax for migraines and trigeminal neuralgia, a muscle relaxer, an antihistamine for my allergies and for insomnia, and I don’t want to forget the stool softeners, of course! Well, I felt like I was gonna lose my mind AGAIN! My skin feels like bugs are crawling all over me, my scalp is a mess with scabs from scratching it. My TN is off the charts again, and I can’t leave the house, I’m so full of anxiety. I have a meltdown at 4:00 every day, followed by 2-3 unscheduled meltdowns every hour until I go to sleep. I can’t stand the face pain, but my doc tells me not to stop because it takes time to work!"

For Anxiety "I live in an area where there are a lot of drug addicts, so they didn't want to prescribe me a benzo. I took this because my PTSD had been so out of control. I was hopeful, but slowly realized my anxiety was 100 times worse on it. I kept taking it, thinking maybe it just wasn't kicking in yet. Next thing I knew, I was scared to go to the store, and I felt like people were watching me when I was alone in my house. I'd check and double-check my windows were closed. My vision would vibrate, and I felt dizzy and constantly dehydrated with a headache. It was absolutely terrible. I weaned myself off of it because I couldn't wait for my next psych appointment. Now I'm back to just taking my Lamictal, and I feel loads better. Did nothing for me when it came to panic attacks. I need something I can take as needed."

For Anxiety "This medicine may work well for some people, but I wanted to share my experience because it wasn’t pleasant. After 2 weeks of taking buspirone, I thought I was going to die. One morning at work, I noticed heart palpitations, then got extremely dizzy and almost passed out three times before a coworker brought me to urgent care. I stayed very dizzy with severe anxiety/panic attacks that lasted for a week. I had to miss several days of work. This was the first time I had experienced anything like this."

For Anxiety "My psychiatrist prescribed 10 mg twice daily. I was so irritable on this medication. I was mad at my family for no reason. The littlest thing would make me so angry I would start to cry. I wasn’t me on this medication, plus it brought on more anxiety. I continued to take the medication for about 4 weeks to see if that side effect would subside, but I couldn’t take it any longer. I haven’t been able to find any other person with that side effect. This medication does work for a lot of people, so don’t get discouraged!"

For Anxiety "A very strange drug. I have been on this drug for about a week or so, and my conditions have gotten worse. When I started it (10 mgs, two 5 mg pills a day), I didn't feel any different, although I noticed I felt 'foggy' and not present. Around day 4 is when it started to bother me, so I boosted my dose to 15 mgs, but it made things a lot worse. I feel anxious, extremely confused, and extremely foggy, almost near fainting 24/7. I just feel weak and not alive, like I am piloting a body in a dream. My doctor told me to continue it, but I am afraid of things getting worse as it does every day, so I am going to start weaning myself off it in hopes of making things better. I was already foggy before taking this, and I understand most anti-anxiety drugs will make you feel worse before feeling better, but this is truly the worst thing I have experienced."
