Buspirone for Anxiety "My doctor gave me this on top of my Zoloft to help with increased anxiety. Pros: I’ve never slept so well in my life. Cons: After two days of taking it, I had horrible mood swings and intrusive thoughts. I was lightheaded and dizzy and had multiple panic attacks with heart palpitations and shortness of breath. I’d gladly keep my insomnia if it meant I didn’t have these horrific side effects."

For Anxiety "No, no, I experienced severe muscle weakness and pain, numbness, tingling in my hands and feet for months. Debilitating, awful side effects. Not worth it. It was my second time on it - the first time, on a smaller dose, it caused tremors."

Buspirone for Anxiety "This medication was a total nightmare for me. I went from having generalized anxiety to, after taking it for about a week, having MAJOR panic and anxiety 24/7, sleeplessness, moodiness - it was terrible. I had to stop taking it after 2 weeks. While I don’t doubt at all that it does work for some (I read these reviews and remained cautiously optimistic) - it DID NOT work for me. Just goes to show how unique and different brain chemistry is for people."

Buspirone for Anxiety "This was a mistake. Was prescribed this for mild anxiety. Took 10 mg a day for 17 days. The side effects were terrible! Dizziness, nausea, chest pain, increased heart rate, insomnia, fatigue, and more. Have been off 3 weeks and still struggling with withdrawal effects."

For Anxiety "Buspar was the first medication I've taken for anxiety. I stayed on it for a steady 4-5 weeks with no noticeable change at all. The only thing that it would do is make me dizzy within 5-10 minutes of ingesting it. Didn't help me for my anxiety, but hey, everybody's body is different. Just my experience with it. Doctor switched me to Sertraline, and I've been on that for 6 months with the best results I've ever had. Good luck to everyone."

For Anxiety "Tried buspirone 5 mg 3x/day for a month. Improved my mood a bit but didn't help the fairly intense anxiety. Went up to 10 mg 3x/day for another month. No effect. No side effects either (maybe some dry mouth). I was using Valium about every other day. My psychiatrist said Valium negates the effect of buspirone (I can't find any info on this on Google to confirm), but I was not giving up the Valium. I'm going to try Lexapro. I used Paxil a few times, which is great for panic but made me very sleepy. Wanted to nap all the time. However, buspirone may work for you. I recommend trying it before an SSRI."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Oh no. I took 1 BuSpar today and will never ever take another one. Within 30 minutes, I was extremely dizzy and felt weird and out of my head. Felt like I was experiencing a bad trip. Never again."

Buspirone for Anxiety "So I've been on Xanax for 10 years, off and on, maybe. I've recently tried buspirone, and tbh, it really didn't do anything to help me. I genuinely wish there was a non-narcotic that would just cure anxiety, but I'm not sure there is right now. I'm going to ask my doctor to try something new with the Xanax, but I've tried most everything. Might try some therapy and meditation."

For Anxiety "My experience on it was: I was on 7.5 mg two times daily for almost 4 weeks. I'm about 3 ½ weeks in. The first week was fine. The second week I got increasingly more anxiety with symptoms of really bad restlessness, nervousness, and sleeplessness. The third week still more of the same symptoms. I can't function in the mornings through all the way until evening. I took the medicine at 9 am and then at 7 pm. I couldn't sleep. She tried a third dose on me, but those symptoms fired up all my nerves and my mind. I know these are common symptoms, but if you can't handle this past the third week, stop the medicine. I'm stopping as of today after an ER trip. I do also have hyperthyroidism I am treating, but these symptoms got worse the more I took buspirone."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I was prescribed this drug to help my anxiety through a job change. DO NOT take this drug! It doubled my anxiety, insomnia to the point that I hadn't slept in 3 nights, caused jerking motions that would wake me up when I did actually fall asleep, nauseous, absolutely no appetite, feelings of complete depression and hopelessness."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Terrible headache, nausea, sweats. I felt like this was bad for my body. Even though I only took it for a short time, I had terrible withdrawal symptoms. Please be very careful if you take this drug."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I was prescribed BuSpar. I waited two weeks to even start taking it. I can get nervous about new meds; I have had some bad experiences. My doc said I could take it daily or as needed. The first night I took it, I felt like it helped me sleep. After that, for five to seven days, I felt as though I was taking nothing. Then WHAM!!!! Suddenly I was losing hours and days at a time. Disassociating. Hallucinating. My employer voiced concern for my mental health and asked me to take time off. I was completely off BuSpar for over a week before I felt even remotely like myself again. What I experienced while taking this medication and for a week after getting off of it completely was a nightmare!! I was either completely and totally in another reality (fantasy land) or was present, fearful, and riddled with anxiety! I wish I could rate this a 0 out of 10."

For Anxiety "It didn’t do a thing for me for anxiety. I only took this for 4 days, but the side effects were really bad in those few days. I woke up 2 times on two different nights with nightmares and was seeing things come at me in my room. Startled me and made my anxiety 100 times worse. I kid you not, it was like being in a movie. I have mitral valve prolapse, and I was given this to try and calm the anxiety it causes. This stuff made my heart skip and palpitations worse, and so bad I could not walk more than 50 feet without having to take a rest, and I’m a runner. My eyes seemed out of focus a lot and hard to concentrate. Felt like I was in a fog all morning waking up. Also, I got bad tinnitus or more like a brain zap chirp/buzz noise that I heard from waking up until about 3 hours later. I only took this stuff for 4-5 days, once a day, 7.5 mg. I read all the 1-star reviews on here, and they all say they had the same as me. I’m done trying this and tossing out the rest."

For Panic Disorder "I'm prescribed 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg in the evening. This medication is not for me. It gives me horrible headaches, horrible insomnia, and a really weird, sort of nauseated, seasick feeling about 2 hours after taking it. Last night, I had to take a Xanax just to sleep from taking the buspirone. That's defeating the purpose. I can't stand these side effects. Done."

Buspirone for Panic Disorder "Buspar is a complete waste of time. I took it for 3 months on all different sorts of doses, 5mg-15mg, and it did NOTHING to help my anxiety/panic. Complete placebo pill. What it did give me was tremors, dizziness, noise sensitivity, dissociation, and made me angry BEYOND belief. Waste of time. If you do want to try to try it, take it 2-3 hours before you actually have to go to work or accomplish something, because it makes you feel like rubbish for that long after you take your dose. Might have worked for some people, but definitely didn't for me."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Buspirone has not helped my anxiety at all. Taking 5 mg twice a day with no improvement. Side effects are drowsiness, joint pain, irritability and anger, dark thoughts. Weaning off of it ASAP."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Started on BuSpar, I think 15 mg daily (7.5 mg twice daily) in April and had some general side effects with increased anxiety plus nausea. My doctor upped the dose to 3 a day, and that lasted a week. My anxiety went through the roof, so he decreased the dose back down, but I've weaned it further to half a 7.5 mg tab twice a day and will begin coming completely off soon. Since beginning in April (it's now July), I have a marked increase in anxiety, irritability, and perpetual nausea. If you are new and looking to try something new, don't be afraid to try it. This is just my experience with it, there are plenty of others who have been helped by it. I have a prescription for a low dose of clonazepam (Klonopin) that I take sparingly as needed and works for me. I tried BuSpar because doctors are getting skittish about prescribing things like Klonopin and was hoping to find something that would help."

Buspirone for Anxiety "I was prescribed BuSpar for 7 months, and it was the worst 7 months of my life. I had constant brain zaps, memory loss, excessive sweating, and depersonalization. I didn't feel real when taking this. It was amazing how clear my head felt once I was off this medicine. I feel normal again. Please be careful with this drug."

For Anxiety "I was put on buspirone for anxiety after a severe panic attack. After about three days of taking this at 7.5 mg 2x a day, I noticed my stool had gotten significantly softer, and I stopped being able to sleep. I’m not even a full week in, and I’m deciding to stop due to the headaches, chills, and severe (almost unbearable) insomnia I’m experiencing due to this medication. In a mental sense, I feel it has maybe touched some of my previous anxiety, but alas, the side effects are just too much for me at such a low dose. I feel I should also mention that the confusion that comes with taking this pill is very unnerving and contributes to your anxiety as well."

For Anxiety "Took for antenatal anxiety. My OB said it was one of the least likely meds to give side effects. After trying to give it a go, the side effects have gotten out of control, and I can’t do it. I’ve been waking up with intense nightmares and been unable to fall back asleep, which isn’t helping my anxiety. My eyes have been itching nonstop since starting. The GI issues are terrible (nonstop nausea, burping, diarrhea, feeling dehydrated and unable to drink enough water). I’ve been insanely dizzy, exhausted, and foggy-headed to the point where I can’t get anything done or concentrate (also having ADHD, this is making it 10x worse). My chest keeps getting this weird pain shortly after I take it, I have ringing in my ears, and the headaches have been so severe I’ve had to take multiple headache pills every day. I also just feel really out of it and uncomfortable in my own skin. I do feel slightly happier from this medicine, but that slight pro is not worth all the cons."

Buspirone for Anxiety "This medicine has made me so sick, it's given me terrible vertigo for months. The side effects have not stopped until I stopped taking it: weight gain, a very upset stomach, terrible vertigo, and dizziness. I will never take this again, I'd rather have anxiety than this."

For Anxiety "Taken for generalized anxiety disorder. Unfortunately, this medicine wasn’t the one for me. Within 2-3 doses, it was very clear to me I was dissociating pretty badly. It was unsettling, and I felt as though people weren’t real or that I was living in a dream. On top of this, I had constant throbbing headaches and dizziness that never went away. I also had some dream disturbances, the dreams became so vivid I would wake up “hungover,” and some were scary enough I was scared to sleep. Many people would say, “you quit too early,” but enduring these side effects, particularly the dissociation, is not something I was prepared to do for a month. Good luck."

For Anxiety "So my side effects of buspirone are that I am sick, just sick all over, my head feels sick, my stomach feels sick, I am irritable, I can't sleep, I am shaky, and my heart races. I feel as close to death as you can get without being dead."

Buspirone for Anxiety "Why oh why does anyone take all these medicines? They are all as dangerous. Benzodiazepines are the ONLY one that works. The so-called doctors that write their junk meds that don't work - BuSpar is awful. Why be a doctor if the federal drug policy makes you write these dangerous pretend drugs?"
