"I called myself a dirty smoker, started around 11 years old, and pregnant at 26, was smoking 35 a day. I didn't like myself being so addicted. I had tried everything to stop but couldn't. My baby was 1 when my doctor gave me Zyban, and I smoked for 8 days, then on day 9, stopped. I knew from day 1 that I was gonna quit. Zyban worked amazingly well for me, and I'm still free of nicotine 22 years on."

"Started on 1 tablet a day for six days, all was fine. Then, a day after starting the two tablets, my life spiraled into a four-day and night hell of panic attacks, anxiety, racing heart, sweats, sickness, unable to eat, and a vile taste in my mouth. I was crying hysterically. While this product may work for some, it sadly didn’t for me, and the whole experience has left me totally against this drug."

"I will admit that the drug helps you quit. Unfortunately, I probably slept only a couple of hours a night while I was taking the drug. It all came to a head when I had a seizure at work, and fortunately, my colleague found me under my desk convulsing, and luckily I didn't choke myself with my tie. Scary times."

"My partner took Zyban to help him quit smoking. Yes, it did help him to stop, but the side effects have been horrific. I would not recommend anyone using this. For the past five and a half years, he has suffered terrible mood swings, to the point that he frightens me, and there has been a little violence (in the early days). He has had suicidal thoughts (and still does now occasionally). Our happy little family unit has almost been destroyed... we are still together by the grace of God, but for how much longer, I don't know. I know his health has probably improved no end due to no longer smoking, but his mental health has suffered greatly, and sadly I don't know if things will ever improve."

"I took Zyban 5 years ago. After less than 2 weeks, cigs tasted like sh//////t. Then went for 5 weeks without ever touching a cig. Then the misses left me, so I started again. I was smoking so heavily that now I find it hard to breathe. I did try Champix, but it did nothing for me. No urge to stop whatsoever. I'm now back on Zyban, and as I ain't got a missus, that's less stress for me to worry about. I'm only on day 4 now. It took about 10 days last time before I hated the taste of a cig and was butting them out halfway through. So I'm guessing 14 days, that is my quit time. Hopefully, they will taste like sh////t before then. I need to give up so bad. My lung has collapsed 3 times, still smoking at 60. As for side effects, I had none."

"Used it for smoking cessation and depression, but found it did not help with depression and landed me in the hospital hooked up to an EKG all night because my heart was racing and blood pressure through the roof."

"When I say I’ve been on every drug for my mental health, I’m not even joking. And with no success 3 years down the track, it led me to do my own research. Wellbutrin was what I had concluded too, but Australia only has the equivalent drug Zyban to treat smoking cessation. Same active ingredient. I was, in fact, smoking, but I requested this drug from my psych who prescribed it off-label for depression. BIG MISTAKE. If you plan on taking Zyban, I strongly encourage you to get a public prescription from your GP as a smoking quit aid. It will save you hundreds of dollars. It worked like a charm, gave me motivation to do things, stopped all the impulses like skin picking and overeating, and within 1 week, I was no longer smoking. Although you have to actively replace that habit to not feel so empty and anxious (stress ball, exercise, new hand engagement hobbies). The only side effect I experienced was migraines and light sensitivity. DRINK WATER to avoid haha!"

"My husband tried quitting several times on his own without any success. After 4 days of being on Zyban, he put his last one down and hasn't smoked for 18 years now. He had absolutely no side effects, was in good spirits, and actually stopped taking the meds after 2 months. In my opinion, this drug saves lives. And yes, I'm aware that for some people, it does sadly have side effects, just as all medications do for certain people. But in general, it gets my vote."

"I used Zyban years ago to quit, and it did help, but I started again after I went off it. I have been trying to quit for the last year but haven't made it past a few days. I am 36 and have smoked since I was about 20, 16 years of damage to my lungs. I decided it's now or never, I just want to be a non-smoker so badly. I went and got a prescription for Zyban 4 days ago and started immediately. So far, I feel okay on it, I definitely feel different, time feels slower, and I feel like I'm observing things differently in some way removed. Today is my first day taking two pills, and I'm a little worried I will feel messed up on the medication but going to stick with it. I'm still smoking but plan on quitting within the next week."

"I’m on day 4 of taking Zyban. Does anyone else feel really funny taking them? I feel like I can’t get a deep enough breath in, my muscles ache, and I just feel really weird, but it’s stopped me from craving a cig. I don’t know whether to stop them with the side effects or carry on."

"The first time I took Zyban was around 2004. I was on it for a week, and I was amazed how it stopped the urge to smoke, but the side effects were awful. I experienced anxiety and what felt like deep lows. I would wake up sobbing for no reason, but at least I didn't feel like a cigarette! I'm in Australia and pretty sure that we take the same levels of 150 mg twice a day."

"I used Zyban for two weeks. After five days, my head was heavy, I was nervous, slept a few hours, and all the time I was in some kind of nightmare, so I decided to stop. I’m not satisfied with this product."

"Not as effective as Champix. Really requires a lot of willpower during the first week of cessation. Stopped using Zyban after the first few days off the cigs, my motivation is high, but it definitely helped. Side effects were restless nights and strange dreams. Felt much worse taking Champix, but that is more effective. Give Zyban a go while Champix is unavailable, but be prepared to push through the first week or so."

"I use Skoal (moist smokeless tobacco used for dipping). I took Zyban for 8 days: 1 the first three days, then two the rest. I ran out of Skoal and said today’s the day. I was dipping 3 cans a day. I haven’t had a dip in 20 days. I wish I’d done it sooner. Added it up, I was giving the tobacco company $3,600 a year. Zyban 150 mg is a great drug to help stop you from dipping tobacco."

"Absolutely useless. My desire to quit was high, and I didn't get any relief from my cravings at all. Sent my second planned pack back for a refund. All I did get were restless nights' sleep. Champix works for me, but it is unavailable. Come on, Pfizer, sort it out!"

"In my first week of Zyban. Need to give up as I smoke a pack a day. Feeling nauseous, last night had a severe headache and woke up thinking I could levitate and fly after having the weirdest out-there dream - it really felt believable. Anyway, going to continue and pray it works, will report back at a later date."

"Day 1, a bit of feeling 'doped up.' Day 2, OK; nothing significant. Day 3, the nausea started. Ciggies tasted horrible, but even worse than that, just the thought of food, and I all but headed to the john to throw up. This was the three-day, one-pill-a-day phase. Side effects of Chantix (including nausea) were not as severe as this. I'm still waiting to see if, after 24 hours, that last dose will finally wear off. Cold turkey, bad as it can be, is way better."

"I was prescribed Zyban for depression and smoking cessation. I had been on a different antidepressant immediately prior for 1 month (during which my depression had worsened). I had immediate relief from depression upon starting Zyban for about a week (until the other drug had left my system). In the last 3 weeks, there has been little effect in alleviating depression and no effect in reducing cravings for smoking. Somehow, I managed to put on a few kilos in the month I took it. Not a good drug for me."

"I started Zyban exactly 1 week ago, and on the third day of taking it, I stopped smoking. Everything seemed fine, then the dosage went to 300 mg a day, and that's when the bad side effects kicked in. I have not been able to have a decent night's rest at all. I have messed up thoughts, I'm not an angry guy at all, but I just keep snapping at my partner. I punched a wall in anger, and that's not me at all!!!!! Also, be careful, search up Zyban and tinnitus. I have nonstop ringing in my ears, which I never had before. Champix was much better. My advice, guys, is quit cold turkey or hold out till Champix because this Zyban is no good for you, honestly. Before you start taking it, just think to yourself: do you really want to mess with your brain chemicals? Please do your research before taking this horrible pill. Day 7, and I'm not taking any more of the Zyban."

"I took this pill back in 2001 after trying everything else on the market to stop smoking, as I had no willpower to stop. In fact, I liked smoking but didn’t like smelling like an ashtray or having smelly breath. Within eleven days of taking Zyban, I just didn’t feel like a cigarette again and just stopped. I haven’t smoked since, and nor will I, it’s so good not having that smell on my clothes and breathing it over everybody else."

"December 1999. Boxing Day. Already signed up for Zyban course with group meetings for 1/1/2000. Started course and never smoked since... or wished to. Truly amazing and immediate. Didn't even have to complete course, it was that good. Always smoked socially from 18 to 44. A true lifesaver with no side effects. You must attend class/discussions, it's a mental commitment that's essential to success and really works. Don't hear too much about it these days, but go for it!"

"Works fine to stop smoking and stops the cravings. However, the side effects are taking their toll. I only get a maximum stretch of 2 hours of sleep. This will happen about 3-4 times per night. I have a constant ringing in my ears, and I am also getting heart palpitations. I feel absolutely terrible. I suggest finding a better way to stop smoking. Unfortunately, the doctor wasn't exactly forthcoming with the side effects. If I knew about them, I would never have used them."

"Heavy smoker for 40 years. Cost to wallet and body too much to bear these days. Went on Zyban and stopped after 2 weeks. Has now been 6 months nicotine-free. Had reduced to only one tablet a day after 3 months and will now stop taking Zyban. Very few side effects, just a bit dizzy and felt I slept more for a while. Found that a few vapes a day made the transition easier but will stop that in time also. Overall, feel much better and many thousands better off. Wish I had known of Zyban years ago. I am sure it would have altered my life completely. I effectively smoked my retirement funds away, but no more."

"I'm 57 and quit smoking in 2000, and it's been more than 22 years! I was skeptical I would be able to quit, but Zyban worked like magic! The good thing is I could still smoke while I was taking it, but 2 days later cigarettes tasted awful, and I had no urge to smoke. Quit completely and never went back. I'm here to share my experience and help others. You can quit with Zyban. Side effects: felt lightheaded and dry mouth, but drank a lot of water."

"I have smoked since I was 12 years old. Started smoking daily at age 15. I am now 51. Quit a few times for 3 or 4 months but always went back to it. On day 2 with Zyban and still smoking but looking forward to finally quitting. First day I took one in the morning. Felt a bit funny but also was getting pains in chest and arm. Not sure if this was just a panic attack or what but going to keep going. If it gets worse I will have to stop taking Zyban. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it was nothing more than a panic attack."
