Bismuth subcitrate potassium / metronidazole / tetracycline for Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I had food poisoning in July 2021, recovered in a week but had persistent diarrhea for some reason (frequent bowel movements, not watery stool). My doc checked for H. pylori and it came back positive. I didn’t have any symptoms, but he said it’s better to treat it. Took Pylera, and I have to say it is a very tough medicine. The first two days were the worst: headache, nausea, neck stiffness, loss of appetite, fatigue, dry mouth, mood swings, feeling like I would die and depressed, the worst feeling ever. Then my body started adapting, and symptoms started to come and go throughout the treatment. Black stool, dark urine, and frequent urination. I just finished it 2 days ago and will check if I still have the bacteria or not. Advice: take with food, avoid dairy and alcohol during treatment, water, and good luck."

I have experienced so many awful side effects that I started keeping a journal. I have extreme fatigue, my arms feel heavy, I can't really grip things (dropped my toothbrush in the sink 3 times last night), cold sweats, complete loss of appetite, dizziness, nausea, a slight ringing in my ears, feeling like there's a buzzing sensation in my scalp, minor headaches, cramps, dark stool, and finally this morning I threw up an hour after taking my first 3 pills. On top of all these horrible side effects, I am really struggling to fit in the 4 doses and the two doses of omeprazole. I am also prescribed pain medication 3 times a day for a separate issue, and the last two days I have only taken 3 total pills.... I can't figure out timing to safely take everything. Two nights ago I simply skipped the 4th dose because I could not fit it in. I am praying that Pylera works, because right now in the middle of it I am questioning, is this worth it!?"

This is day 5 and the side effects are really bad, I lost weight completely and don't have an appetite for food. I'm weak and feel miserable. Still have 5 days more and hope to go through successfully, please pray for me, and I wish everyone the best..."

After reading others' experiences, I am on day 9, one more day to go. I was about to quit on the 5th day, then I found other people's reviews who experienced the same side effects. My side effects were terrible starting day 2 till the 7th day. I had nausea, vomiting, dizziness, loss of appetite, and headache, plus stomach acid before bowel movements. On day 9, still loss of appetite and nausea, but less from all other side effects. I used Nexium twice a day plus Pylera. Will update after a few weeks with the end result. But without a doubt, a very hard drug and a bad experience going through the 120 pills of Pylera."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I'm on day 11 of 14, and damn, it's a disaster. Constant nausea, lightheadedness, fatigue, crushing headache. No appetite. Feels like I can't eat because I'm nauseous, and I'm nauseous because I can't eat. I've been self-force feeding myself crackers. Couldn't keep it in a few times after taking meds, but I've been better since. Hopefully it won't void the treatment. I've been missing work the past couple of days and will likely miss more. The first 6 days were fine, but it's just downhill. I'm also an emotional wreck. Huge ups and downs. Strangely, very heightened sense of smell and taste."

My stomach is bloated, and I don't have an appetite. Palpitations, bubbly feeling in stomach. I just can't go on. I also have IBS. I've been dealing with H. pylori since 2002. It progressively got worse. The stomach pains are the worst. I could go days without eating. This medicine is NOT for me. The objective is to feel better, but that's not what's happening. For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "This is by far the most brutal treatment I’ve ever been on. The amount of meds that need to be taken creates anxiety in itself. I experienced black stools, white tongue, dizziness, depression, loss of appetite, metallic taste in mouth, and insomnia. I pray I am not affected long term by using this medication. By the time I found out about natural remedies, it was too late. I recently had lab work, and liver enzymes were off by a couple points, whereas the month before they were normal. No doubt Pylera was the culprit. Hopefully, this treatment worked, and I can continue healing!"
