For Alcohol Withdrawal "Baclofen saved my life. I had been drinking and drugging and other addictions for thirty-five years, and after a few months getting dosage correct with occasional relapse, I am now booze-free. It is a miracle. You must fight through the side effects (sleepiness, lethargy, etc.) as it will eventually work. I now take it five times a day, totaling 225mg, but will slowly reduce now that I have reached the 'threshold' (Amiesen). I had tried years of AA, rehab, moving to alcohol-free countries, yoga, meditation, extreme fitness routines, years of therapy; nothing worked. Several DUIs, lost jobs, marriages, relationships... And then, Baclofen! Thank you Dr. Amiesen, I love you!"

For Muscle Spasm "I have a lot of different pains due to fibromyalgia, nerve damage, sciatica, a stroke, and spinal cord disease. I take 1 20-milligram tablet at night only because it does make you very tired. The only time I really noticed it working is when I don't take it, then my pain is much worse."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I am taking baclofen, have stopped craving alcohol for some time now. I have side effects: feeling tired, shortness of breath, seeing things, twitching, etc. I’m so happy with the change in my life, thanks to baclofen, the side effects don’t even come close to the side effects of drinking. I am happy, and life is amazing, the best thing I’ve ever done, and I am in control of my life now. Amazing and life-changing."

For Temporomandibular Joint Disorder "I have moderate/severe TMJ, and I get a lot of relief from Baclofen. It's not indicated as a treatment for TMJ, but it works for it very well. The muscles in my face and jaw area are very tight, and the tightness causes jaw pain and tension-type headaches. Previous to trying this Baclofen, I tried Cyclobenzaprine, Orphenadrine, Tizanidine, and they all seemed to achieve their 'muscle relaxant' effects by making me tired. I take 20 mg of Baclofen at bedtime, and it relaxes my muscles very well and helps me sleep. The muscles in my face become less tight, and I do not grind my teeth as much, and my jaw feels so much better. Also, the painful muscle spasms I suffer from are reduced. The drug improves my quality of life greatly. I recommend it."

For Neuralgia "I have been taking baclofen for 5 years for my sciatic pain and neuropathy, it has helped me a lot. I take it daily, 3 times a day. It helps relieve my back pain better than any other relaxer and doesn't get me dizzy or tired or affect me in any other way but helpful."

For Spasticity "I take baclofen due to a brain stem tumor outcome, it left me with right-sided hemiplegia, so I'm full of spasticity down that side! Ouch! I find baclofen to be a great relief from spasms, not addictive, and pretty easy to take. If I forget, I’ll know it, the cramps start. It does make you a little tired, but I’ve been on it for 3 years, so I’m used to that. I feel like long-term use, like I will be doing, could probably benefit from a baclofen pump (under the skin). But for now, the pills are okay. I guess the only problem I have with it is that it’s short-lived, wish there was a slow-release pill. I’m in Australia and on disability, hence why meds cost $5.40 per month."

For Periodic Limb Movement Disorder "I was prescribed 10 mg of Baclofen twice a day for muscle spasms after a fall a year ago. I didn't really experience any relief from pain by taking it and consequently had many left over. My Restless Leg Syndrome has gotten worse recently in spite of taking 0.5 mg of Pramipexole, and I've had trouble falling asleep. I decided to try the Baclofen to help. It definitely helps me fall asleep and stay asleep, but it makes me incredibly tired, lightheaded, and dizzy the next day. If I take it around midnight, I sleep until around 3 pm the next day. When I wake up to use the bathroom, I feel like I can't move and have forced myself to get up."

Baclofen for Neuralgia "I have been taking Lioresal (baclofen) 10 mg 3 times per day for 3 days now. The side effects are immense! After 20 minutes, I lose all sense of balance, get a major headache, and need to urinate frequently (which is difficult when lack of balance screws up walking ability!) It knocks me out for hours. Side effects last approximately 6 hours. I have cut down to twice a day now because I can't handle the side effects. The only positive is the pain eases (I have intercostal neuralgia), but not 100% pain relief-maybe 70%. I plan to visit the doctor and get off it as soon as possible."

Baclofen for Alcohol Withdrawal "At 125 mg, greatly helped reduce the craving but had to lower the dose due to side effects such as sleep apnea and extreme tiredness. Currently at 60 mg. In conclusion, it helped me a lot, but I had severe side effects."

For Muscle Twitching "Have MS and sometimes legs feel like I gotta itch, then leg twitches... have difficulty walking already, but I don’t actually acknowledge benefits being that twitching happens rarely. I have noticed it makes my mouth severely dry at night, and my gums bleed daily when I brush my teeth. I read online that medication causes dry mouth, which in turn causes gum disease. Some days I take medication and get severely tired 20 minutes after taking it."

For Muscle Spasm "I have lumbar spinal stenosis and pelvic floor spasms. Baclofen 20-40 mg/day was prescribed for the stenosis before the pelvic floor spasms were diagnosed. It worked PERFECTLY to prevent me from having horribly painful leg cramps at night that would make me cry. But once the pelvic floor spasms were diagnosed and my dosage was increased to 60 mg/day, I would get horribly sick: headache, abdominal pain, and nausea to the point where I went to the ER. I guess I developed a sensitivity to it, which is a shame because it worked really well!! Now, I take 20-30 mg/day of Flexeril, and that works great but makes me very tired."

For Muscle Spasm "Baclofen is the only drug that has helped me regarding my lower back spasms. Was in horrendous pain for 4 years until Baclofen was prescribed. This has helped me so much. 8 / 10. Made me feel tired on and off throughout the day. Slight confusion at times. But Baclofen works for me. Only on 5 mg 3 times a day, so I can still drive and carry on working."

"If you are struggling with insomnia, this medication helped me greatly. I have extreme anxiety, occasional insomnia, and really bad restless leg syndrome. Sometimes my entire body will twitch and feel restless, making it impossible to sleep. This medication works fast! It only takes about 15 minutes to feel the effects. I was prescribed it for anxiety as a last-ditch effort, and I suppose it works because it makes you sleep quickly and deeply. I wouldn't recommend it for daytime use - you will be too tired. The first medication that has ever worked for my restless leg syndrome. I experience zero side effects from this medicine, perhaps a little tired the next day, but you can always take a smaller dose to combat that. I'm only giving an 8 instead of a 10 because I was prescribed it for anxiety, and it doesn't really target anxiety for me."
