"Been using baclofen for 2 months. Used to have shooting pains and would be unable to sleep because of throbbing muscle pain. I guess I am lucky one because I have had no side effects. I am unable to take NSAIDs because of possible liver damage and allergic to Tylenol. This has been a good medicine for me."

"As for pain: it's excellent. I'm only using it temporarily for sciatica. It really does help. Sleepiness: I can only take it at night. Primary side effect: nausea. I will not be using the medication long-term."

"I began taking Baclofen 14 years ago. I started with 10 mg three times a day. After six months, my doctor increased it to 20 mg, and I eventually went to 40 mg twice a day. Through all of this, I got only marginal relief. Last year, I had the intrathecal pump installed. So far, I still have had only marginal relief. My left hamstrings are very painful throughout the day. Massage is helpful, but very temporary. I'd love to find something that really relaxes my spasms."

"I've been taking this medication for so long I don't know if it helps or not. I have M.S. and severe muscle spasms in my lower back, as well as tightness in my legs. After reading the comments here, I've decided to ask my neurologist to either up the dosage or try another medication."

"I have lumbar spinal stenosis and pelvic floor spasms. Baclofen 20-40 mg/day was prescribed for the stenosis before the pelvic floor spasms were diagnosed. It worked PERFECTLY to prevent me from having horribly painful leg cramps at night that would make me cry. But once the pelvic floor spasms were diagnosed and my dosage was increased to 60 mg/day, I would get horribly sick: headache, abdominal pain, and nausea to the point where I went to the ER. I guess I developed a sensitivity to it, which is a shame because it worked really well!! Now, I take 20-30 mg/day of Flexeril, and that works great but makes me very tired."

"I've got arthritis in my hips and legs, and about two months ago, I was switched to this from Flexarell because it stopped working. Well, baclofen doesn't seem to help either. Been in bed for 2 days and can't sleep or even lift my newborn grandchild. I've pulled a muscle in my lower back now and am in so much pain."

"I had back surgery-severe, debilitating migraines (one per week)-a stroke at age 30 (8 years ago)-knee, shoulder, wrist, ankle, and hand surgeries. Call me Humpty Dumpty because I would have fallen apart, but Baclofen has helped put me back together again. It cuts down on the spasms and helps dull the pain. My migraines are down to 1 a month and over within 12-24 hours. I take 10 mg x 8 pills before bed. I take Ambien to help me sleep but have HUGE problems waking up and staying awake. I have fallen asleep at work (bad when you are a teacher). My doctor started me on Nuvigil 250 mg in the mornings, and it is a life/job saver. Also taking Seroquel, Nexium, Triliptal, Exalgo, Lexapro, 15,000 UI of vitamin D, and had to start Hyzaar since beginning Baclofen."

"I have been taking baclofen 5 mg 3x a day for about a year now for chronic neck and shoulder pain. It definitely takes the pain down a few notches, especially when combined with some Tylenol. Fortunately, I haven’t experienced any side effects from this drug, but I take a low dose. I would definitely recommend this drug to others. It is not a slam dunk on eliminating the pain, but it definitely helps without any noticeable side effects."

"Prescribed this by a pain management doctor, along with Roxy 15 mg. Made very sleepy-seeing no improvement with back pain/leg pain over just taking the Roxy. Side effects are just too many for the slight relief it may have given."

"This is going to seem strange, but I took baclofen for a year or so circa 2017 and don’t specifically remember why at the moment. But I had a lot left over. Within the past 6 months, I started getting strong, long-lasting muscle spasms in my calves. The type of spasm that involuntarily turned my ankle and twisted my pinky toe. Nothing helped. And then I remembered my leftover baclofen. I took it while a spasm was in progress at 4 am, and it stopped immediately."

"I was put on baclofen for muscle spasms caused by spinal stenosis. It works quite well for me. If I miss a dose, I can feel the difference. My doctor increased my dose to the maximum when I had more episodes of my leg spasming."

"Prescribed 10 mg pill as needed for back pain and spasms. It works okay, not great. It was prescribed because my insurance wouldn’t allow me to take the muscle relaxer that really worked. (So sorry, can’t remember the name.) If I combine baclofen with ice and ibuprofen, it will usually stop a spasm in 30 minutes or so. Little to no effect on pain. I don’t use it often. No side effects I’m aware of."

"I was given this because I fell and landed on my ribs against a day bed, which is a very little bed and mostly metal. Not sure if it worked since the side effects were such a problem. I was very emotional and bawled like a baby for 3-4 hours. I had chest pains, weight gain, stomach pain, unsteadiness, and blurred vision. I quit taking the drug on the 5th day after I googled the side effects (since the drugstore information didn't say anything about any of these side effects). Oh, and I still have what feels like a bad yeast infection with blood."

"I was taking baclofen for a few months when I noticed it made me sweat like crazy. It seems that after the initial start of the medication, it just became ineffective. I felt relief for the muscle tightness and random spasms, but now I don't want to take it because it makes me sweat so much. I am hoping I can try Soma. There seems to be a lot of positive reviews."

"Have been using as needed for muscle pain in my neck and shoulder for about a year. I take it at night, and it helps prevent waking up with headaches. I do have bouts of nausea, but I’m unsure if it is due to the baclofen or the copious amounts of ibuprofen I’ve taken over the years. I try not to use it in the daytime if I can help it, as it makes me drowsy."

"Baclofen doesn’t work as good as some of the other medications. I prefer Tizanidine, known as ZanaFlex HCL 4 mg tablets, 3 times a day. I don’t feel Baclofen really doesn’t work as well, maybe because my back is too far gone."

"Baclofen is the only drug that has helped me regarding my lower back spasms. Was in horrendous pain for 4 years until Baclofen was prescribed. This has helped me so much. 8 / 10. Made me feel tired on and off throughout the day. Slight confusion at times. But Baclofen works for me. Only on 5 mg 3 times a day, so I can still drive and carry on working."

"I have stiff, trapped muscles that I used to take Klonopin off-label to help relax them. PM doc won't prescribe them, but will write for 20 baclofen 10 mg a month. I have the worst tendonitis and neck spasms ever from taking them. Can't win."

"Since Costco Pharmacy switched providers to Zydus, my muscle spasms/spasticity due to MS have become worse. When I took the Baclofen I found from another pharmaceutical company, I noticed a decrease in spasms within 24 hours. It makes me wonder about the purity of their (Zydus) drug."

"Nothing else prescribed has worked for tight cramping muscles. Really hoping to be able to replace the very expensive medical cannabis oil with my free prescription for baclofen so I can sleep and not be locked up with spasms and cramps. CIPN and muscle spasms post-chemo are exhausting. Will follow up later. Dose 1 and sleepy two hours in… fighting to stay awake. Yay!"

"No significant benefit. Shoulder spasticity. Left. Perhaps a bit worse with increasing dose: 5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg. Will continue working out in the gym and try acupuncture. 14 months out from a minor stroke. Good luck all. Keep trying. Never give up?"

"I got up one morning, my eyes were swollen shut. As the day progressed, my lips started swelling. I thought it was due to my allergies. Then my face got a rash, and my tongue started to swell along with my throat. I had to go to the ER."

"Was Rx'd baclofen by a psychiatrist during an intense 'P/T Mngt' program for cervical spine. Found it ineffective as a muscle relaxant, and when my upper body would seize together in a 'lockdown', baclofen did not budge a fiber loose. I give it a 0 in comparison to Valium (diazepam), which was Rx'd by my psychiatrist who saw my physical distress. Valium is in the benzo class (Ativan, Xanax), but it functions primarily by relaxing muscles. For me, no dependence or withdrawal symptoms."

"I personally will NEVER TAKE THIS RX AGAIN!!! I'd just gotten a Rx for a 30 days' worth at a dose of 3 times a day. I took it one day and ended up in 2 different ERs, and then I was admitted for 2 days! All the tests I was put through, first of all, 4 out of 5 of them weren't too bad, and one was a living nightmare. It came down to, that was the ONLY thing I'd had that was different. It's now a med that I have to put on a severe allergic reaction to. So, thanks ever so much to the manufacturer of that med for totally putting me through the worst experience."

"I've only been on the medication for a few days, but it's the first time in years that I haven't had those seized knots in my back. So I am fairly happy with the medication, despite the drowsiness it's causing. I hope that in a few weeks, the drowsiness will go away. At least it doesn't knock me out like rosuvastatin or tizanidine does."
