"I am an outdoor type of person, but since taking 10 mg of baclofen 3 times a day as directed, I have to cover up at all times when outdoors. Causes the skin to burn even with less than 30 minutes of sunlight."

"Have been taking baclofen med for about three weeks at 10 mg. Helps with pain, but the side effects stop me from living and doing what I need to. I am dizzy, disoriented, sometimes feel like a small electric shock to the brain, and this is day two. I may need to take 5 mg and see if my body handles it better, waiting on my doc to decide what is best."

"I have been prescribed baclofen for several years now. My exact view is still cloudy, but here goes. First, let us review my potential sources for spasmodic responses. Head injury 1968, fractured C spine C1 to C7 inclusive. Two pro-disk implants and a C6/7 fusion. Fractured L spine L1 to L4 inclusive, deteriorating L5 S1 disk space. Severe tinnitus, 65 dB. Medications prescribed may be at issue. Emtec 30, 25 years continuous meds seem to work far better when electrolytes are balanced. Spasms reduced to 0. Spasms I take baclofen for. CIPN came on my list of pains in 2016 and made spasms greatly increased in severity. Spasticity of joints has increased from rare to permanent. In toes and fingers, hand and leg cramps are common despite medications. Electrolyte balance is critical to reducing spasms."

"I took this for 1 week, and not only did it do nothing for my muscle spasms, but it made me depressed. I had never been like this in my life! Thankfully, I realized what was happening and stopped taking them immediately. So, ineffective and severe side effect. Not taking ever again."

"I was using a walking stick 2 weeks ago. I don't feel like my legs are made of rubber anymore and am able to walk short distances without assistance. I am excited about this medication and the future of walking again. I am still working through the need to take an afternoon nap."

"I fell and have had muscle spasms in my mid and upper back. Couldn’t sleep, it hurt so bad. Had a massage. Took a steam shower. Took Advil. Went to my doctor and got this rubbish drug. I took it as prescribed, and it’s like a placebo. It didn’t do anything at all. Calling back my doctor for something else first thing today!"

"I have been suffering from a dull and persistent pain on the right side of my abdomen near my rib cage for several months. I had blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound with results indicating 'normal' appearance. The pain persisted, and I could control it to some extent (not great) with Tylenol Extra Strength. Then I asked my doctor to prescribe 10 mg baclofen, which I have been taking 3 times daily for about two weeks. I noticed my abdominal pain eased after 2 days of the medication. I haven't been experiencing abdominal pain except on rare occasions since I have been taking baclofen. I feel totally functional and thankful that I don't have to live in pain any longer."

"Baclofen is so good! Some drowsiness, although it could be from Lyrica, which I stopped today due to my new Fred Flintstone feet (side effect from Lyrica - needed ultrasound to rule out DVT - clots in the leg). Okay for pain after a short buildup period, but after that period, I started getting most of the listed side effects of Lyrica - including the ER visit with the swollen feet. I had spinal surgery and now suffer severe back spasms. (I'm worse off after surgery). I now have more nerve pain - so hence the Lyrica - and really bad spasms when I stand for short periods or lay in one position, and Baclofen is a godsend."

"After a typical ACL reconstruction, my central nervous system went haywire. It's thought that I might have had an adverse reaction to the Lyrica that I was put on shortly after my operation. Doctors have no idea why, and for months after, I had agonizing nerve pain all over my body. After a few months, the only pain I have left has been in my lower back. Although I can still function, it was bad enough that I dreaded simple things like car trips or sitting at my desk at work. My GP suggested Baclofen, and it's done wonders. I only take one 10 mg tablet at night, but it's enough that I have no muscle pain at all. It's been a miracle, and I've had literally no side effects (probably due to being on such a low dose)."

"I have a partially paralyzed left leg due to SCI, with extreme tone and strong muscle spasms. The first time I tried baclofen, the side effects were so severe that I could not tolerate the medicine at all. The second time, I worked up to 60 mg per day at 5 mg intervals over a couple of months. Virtually no side effects at all this time, but it takes a while. Baclofen with Botox injections to my hip flexor, hamstrings, and dorsiflexor makes my situation bearable. Baclofen works well at 20 mg, less than the prescribed dosage."

"Just took 2 10 mg tabs ten hours apart. It reduced my severe back spasms from a 9 out of 10 to a 1-3. I got the spasms from heavy lifting and twisting due to repairing cars. No known side effects. No drowsiness either."

"I have been using baclofen for about 2 years. I had a back and neck fusion, so I use it for the muscles in those areas. It reacts not like a sedative, but as a stimulant. Hyper energy, unable to sleep if I take it late in the day."

"A drug that was highly recommended for my anxiety, however, I find drugs like clonazepam to be far more effective for severe anxiety issues, like anxiety caused by PTSD or previous traumatic experiences. This drug is better for people trying to get off of benzos, opioids, or to help with alcohol withdrawal."

"For three years or so, prescribed 10 mg three times a day for extremely painful muscle spasms in feet, calves, thighs in several places, abdomen, forearms, and hands. Toes and fingers will curl grotesquely as though I have extreme arthritis; ankles turn on their sides. You want to SCREAM! I take just two of the three, as they do the trick (I resist overmedicating). BUT, if I miss a dose, the symptoms reoccur within hours, at which times the spasms cease in 20-30 minutes. I've experienced no negative side effects. Frankly, I couldn't live without baclofen!!! (Or, gabapentin; but its potential side effects are potentially more scary.)"

"My doctor prescribed this medication for my elbow. I've been having pain with extension/flexion, and I have psoriasis, so I think that may be the cause. Anywho, I started this last night while I wait on my dermatology referral. I slept great last night. However, I woke up in a fog. I could barely function at all. Luckily, I put it all aside just to take my kids to school. After I got home, I got ready to go to the gym and fell asleep on the bed, with my shoes still on. I am still feeling the effects of it, and I will not be taking it again."

"I have been on baclofen for 3 days, and I'm having more spasms than ever before - to the point it's cramping. I am not able to use my right arm, and I'm right-handed. I get spasms when I use the bathroom. I'm ready to go to the ER, that's how bad it is. I drink more water, thinking that will help subside the spasm, but that's not working. Are these side effects? I have had headaches, also, it causes blood pressure to go up."

Baclofen "Loss of leg with riding lawn mower. Still have side effects! The leg I still have jerks, and I still feel the pain of the lawn mower going over my leg. Not at all times, but when they do, I can't get the pain or the spasms to let up!"

"The baclofen I took for muscle spasm spiked my tinnitus considerably. I had to stop taking it after just a few days, and my tinnitus has returned to the point before starting this drug. I honestly could tell no reduction in my pain while taking it."

"I had a spinal fusion in July 2015 and have had extreme nerve issues since then and numbness on my left side. I have been on everything with no relief. Tried Baclofen 10 mL 3x a day. Had some pain relief the 1st day, since then, nothing but very sleepy. Why would it work on the 1st day and then nothing?"

"I have very bad muscle spasms and cramps that turn my foot completely sideways and splay all my toes. It’s excruciating pain. Baclofen made it worse. The day I tried it, I had the spasms 12 times during the night. Won’t be taking it again. I guess crying and screaming is my option."

"First off, to the people expressing relief from this atrocity, let me say that I am glad it has worked for them. That being said, my back pain has gone from severe to excruciating. I have no clue as to why, but I am discontinuing this Rx immediately. Dosage info: 10 mg 3x a day."

"I have tried many spasm medications since 2002 for major muscle spasms. I was in a car accident, and now I'm left with very bad, uncontrollable spasms. This is the only one that worked, but after 6 years of taking it, it doesn't work anymore. But for short-term usage of this medication, it works very well."

"I have been using baclofen for about a year now, and I'll say it's not as effective as Soma (carisoprodol), but it takes the edge off painful, constant pain in my legs. I use three 20 mg tablets daily. Due to the narcotics I'm taking and Valium, my doc and I agreed that Soma would make me way too sedated. Haven't had to make any adjustments to my med regimen since starting the baclofen. No side effects of the med, occasionally, I'll get a brief headache. I'd recommend it to people suffering from painful spasms."

"If you're taking baclofen for general back spasms, beware. There are so many other medicines that do a great job instead of baclofen. This is from 'side effects': 'Do not use baclofen at a time when muscle tone is needed to assure safe balance and movement for certain activities. In some situations, it may endanger your physical safety to be in a state of reduced muscle tone.' Well, muscle tone is needed to stand and do normal activities. Beware: do not take it when drinking alcohol."

"I was prescribed Baclofen for intermittent spasticity in my thoracic back. Also for neck and low back spasms/nerve pain, but it's been the thoracic pain in the past 2 years that more often than not is at times literally unbearable. My thoracic back at its best is constant aching/stabbing. Baclofen stinks, it makes me severely groggy (but so do many medications), and no pain relief even having tried between low to high dosages. 1500 mg of Methocarbamol before bed is an oldie but a goodie. It'll put me to sleep during the day too, but at least it works and doesn't have the bizarre loopy-type side effects. However, I DO NOT take it with any other medication that causes drowsiness, no narcotics, no alcohol, etc."
