For Chronic Spasticity "I am incredibly grateful for Baclofen. I suffered a spinal injury a few years ago, and my leg cramping has made sleep impossible. I was struggling to stay alert at work. Within 2 nights, the cramps started to dramatically improve, and I was sleeping for up to 3 hours at a time. Within a week, I was sleeping up to 5 hours at a time. It's still not perfect, but I can function. Importantly, unlike the other options my doctors tried, there are no side effects I have experienced. I wake up fully alert, and my leg does not drag. I've heard about depression as a side effect, but I'm thrilled to finally be able to sleep and function."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "It is a fact baclofen took away my craving for alcohol. I am an alcoholic. It is amazing because I had no intention of quitting alcohol. I looked forward to 5 o'clock so I could have a few drinks. The alcohol provided better pain relief than the hydrocodone. With the baclofen, I just don’t need alcohol for my pain and have no desire for alcohol. I have a friend that flat out died from alcohol abuse. I wish I’d known about baclofen. How many alcoholics would quit drinking if they could? More doctors and psychologists need to know about baclofen for alcoholism. This medication can save lives. It’s going to save my liver for sure after many years of nightly drinking. I learned about baclofen and alcoholism first by experiencing it, not reading it."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Unbelievable! This medicine changed my life. I've been struggling to get sober for the past three years, rehab after rehab, always thinking I can control it this time, or that somehow this time will be different. I now celebrate 6 months of total sobriety! I've seen reviews of people saying that it makes them drink normally, and I am way too scared to try that. I've become too involved with AA to want to change my sober date. But who knows, maybe one day."

For Migraine Prevention "I have had migraines for 6 years and have tried every medication from Topamax to Zonegran to Depakote. Since I've started taking baclofen 20mg x 3 times daily 6 months ago, I have had one breakthrough headache and even then I was able to function. I'm not saying baclofen is the 'perfect migraine prevention medicine' but for me, it's been my miracle pill."

For Muscle Spasm "I was first given Baclofen in the 1990s for intractable muscle pain and neuralgia. Every other drug had either failed me, given side effects, or gotten me addicted. Initially, it was made for the use in MS and nerve pain patients. My doctor felt I had nothing to lose by trying it. Almost immediately, the difference was incredible. Initially, I was taking the brand name, then generics came in. They are not all created equally, either. I have been taking it for about 25 years, and while I go for periods without it, most of the time, I take 10mg at night. Daytime doses make me sleepy and feeling like a rag doll, so I avoid it. As a person who has side effects and opposite reactions to many, many medications, it has been almost impossible for me to believe this one has zero for me. I’m so grateful."

For Muscle Spasm "I've had sciatica for 20 years. On and off a number of different meds but had negative effects. Had a bad fall on Oct 30, 2013 (I'm 65 and use a walker and canes) and landed square on my coccyx. Oh boy. Doc gave me Toradol pills - nothing, then cyclobenzaprine - bad effect, then BACLOFEN 5MG 3X DAY DOES HELP ME SLEEP AT NIGHT. ON IT NOW FOR A MONTH."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Excellent for alcohol abuse. Never take too much on your first time. Start out on a low dose and slowly work up. You should not mix weed, sedatives, Coricidin, or any drugs while working up. I now take 10 mg 4 times a day. Used properly, it is a miracle medicine for alcoholism!"

For Chronic Spasticity "I had transverse myelitis damage my spinal cord in 2016. I can walk, but for years my legs felt like lead, my hips were in so much pain, and every time I'd get into a cold bed my legs would twitch uncontrollably. I refused pharmaceuticals for years and told myself 'it must not be that bad because I can walk', but eventually I was retaining urine simply because my pelvic muscles were THAT tight. My neurologist urged me to try baclofen and it has been nothing short of A MIRACLE. My legs no longer twitch or go rigid, the pain in my hips is gone, and I can pee! I didn't realize how bad things were until they weren't. I am taking 10mg 3x/day and experience no side effects. My only regret is that I didn't take it years ago!!"

Baclofen for Chronic Spasticity "I have been taking baclofen for years. I changed to this medication from Soma. It has worked well ever since. I was taking 20 mg/3x a day. I have since gone down to 10mg/3x a day. Just like any other medication, I had to become adjusted to it. Afterwards, I've had no issues."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I am a 38-year-old woman who has abused alcohol since 2004. I've been taking Baclofen (90 mg/day) for one year, and it has been a huge game changer in my struggles with alcohol. It has decreased cravings, general anxiety, and overall alcohol consumption. I have not upped the dose to hit 'the switch' that, for many, results in total indifference to alcohol. Along with my psychiatrist, I am uncomfortable exceeding the FDA recommended dosage by so much. But even so, this drug has really helped improve my life."

For Muscle Spasm "Was given this drug as opposed to Soma. Started taking 20 mg 4x a day. That was on a Thursday evening, by Friday night, I was not making any sense. My husband finally rushed me into the ER when I couldn't answer questions and would only answer in a single word. I was dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous, vomiting, dry mouth, at one point, I was doing stuff in the middle of the night. I was hospitalized until things resolved."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I managed to pull a muscle in my back during a particularly long binge. I was prescribed Baclofen for the muscle spasm/to help healing, but its major benefit was in the control of the shakes and sweats I normally get when I sober up at the end of a binge. I could barely write my name on the doctor's form before taking this, afterwards, the shakes and sweats were almost totally gone. I took one more 10 mg pill before bed and slept soundly for 10 hours straight (normally, I get persecution dreams and wake with leg/arm kicks, or just lie there in a pool of sweat). This ought to be prescribed for alcohol withdrawal as a matter of course. (I took 2 10 mg tablets about 4 hours apart, the last one just prior to going to bed)."

For Muscle Spasm "I'm taking baclofen for extreme tightness in my neck and shoulders, works fine. However, it is more of a stress relief and sleeping pill, especially if you are already a bit drowsy. I take 10 mg currently, and I personally don't think it's enough because it doesn't do too much, especially at night when I need it to work fastest because my muscles tighten at the end of the day."

For Muscle Spasm "Baclofen gave me terrible dreams/nightmares, and I would 'walk in my sleep' during them, that is, getting out of my bed and literally trashing my bedroom, knocking everything off the nightstand, flipping over my computer chair, and trying to crawl under a TV tray... crazy stuff that I NEVER did before. As soon as I quit the baclofen (thinking that must be it), those dreams never happened again. PS, since baclofen did this to me, they tried prescribing Tizanidine/Zanaflex, and I had the SAME reaction from those, so I just don't have a muscle relaxer anymore."

For Trigeminal Neuralgia "I am on 300 mg daily oxcarbazepine (Oxtellar 24 hour) with mixed results for my nerve damage/trigeminal neuralgia as a result of a crushed cheekbone in a motorcycle accident where the initial fracture was right down the frontal trigeminal canal. One hour and 10 minutes ago I took 5 mg baclofen and the results are very positive for neuralgia and also (and very importantly) my perpetually swollen left sinus, which is very painful. I am going to do 5 mg three times tomorrow and see how it goes - I was supposed to take 10 mg twice a day to start and then 10 mg three times a day but want to be cautious. I expect even better results when I increase my dosage to 10 mg three times a day. I will report again in a couple of weeks."

For Temporomandibular Joint Disorder "After all the usual drugs did nothing to prevent my migraines, I did a deep dive and found baclofen, which my neurologist then prescribed. Not only did the intensity and duration of my migraines decrease, but it had great side effects. I hardly ever had to go to the chiropractor (from going once a month), and when I did, barely needed much of an adjustment, and my 25 years of moderate, constant dull pain in my TMJ got so much better that I rarely notice it and hardly ever need to medicate it. I told this to my neurologist, who has subsequently prescribed baclofen successfully to other patients for TMJ. I take 30 mg in the morning (it doesn't make me drowsy and didn't help me sleep when I took it at night)."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Fantastic for Xanax withdrawals. 12 years on Xanax, 4 months trying to come off. Worst 4 months of my life. Baclofen solved it overnight. Blurred vision & dizziness is a small price to pay. 90% of the inpatient rehab industry could be replaced by Baclofen."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I had very unpleasant side effects but persevered because I was desperate to stop drinking. Started on a low dose in Sept 2014 and built it up till I stopped drinking altogether - effortlessly - on 11 Dec 2014. I have not taken baclofen since then (though strongly advise to reduce the dose gradually as withdrawal symptoms are extremely unpleasant and dangerous) and have had no desire to drink since - just relief that I am free of this addiction! If this treatment could be recognized and prescribed in the UK it would save much suffering but it is a very powerful drug and should be used with care."

For Neuralgia "I have suffered with pain from lower back disk bulging for several years. The nerves being pinched send pain and extreme stiffness to my left hip all the way down my leg to the front of my shin. I am very active, and my job requires a good deal of physical work. Baclofen in combination with Gabapentin has given me such relief without the side effects of opium-class drugs. I urge you to speak to your doctor about these medications. They may help you with your pain. By the way, I am 50 years old."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "I read about Baclofen in Dr. Ameisen's book regarding the use of Baclofen for alcoholics. I am a long recovered alcoholic but have struggled with opiate addiction for 5 years. After an accidental heroin overdose from which I was very near death, having needed IV Narcan because 8 doses of the Narcan spray did not work, I followed up with my PCP 2 days later. I brought up the fact that I had been clean prior to this short relapse and therefore did not want replacement therapy such as Suboxone, Subutex, or Methadone since I had no physical dependency, and I told him about the Baclofen and asked if he would consider giving it to me as a last resort. I have been 100% clean ever since. This needs to be studied further and utilized to save lives!"

For Chronic Spasticity "I just started taking baclofen in March of 2014 with almost immediate relief. I had a mini stroke back in 2007 and have been dealing with spasticity in my right leg ever since. I was at the point where my leg was so tight it was hard to walk. Anyway, after two days of taking baclofen 10 mg twice per day, I feel like a new man. My muscles in my right leg have just completely relaxed after taking baclofen, and it's just an amazing feeling after seven years of tightness in my leg, and the last two being just agonizing."

For Alcohol Withdrawal "Baclofen saved my life. I was drinking 24/7 for ten years, up to four bottles of wine a day. I had tried everything to quit drinking. Then I read 'The End of My Addiction' by Dr. Ameisen, which started me on the road to sobriety. I had a lot of side effects and had to increase my Baclofen dose very, very slowly, but it worked! I am now totally free of any craving for alcohol. There is a new website with lots of good information at baclofentreatment.com. This was created by an emergency room physician that was treating her patients with Baclofen."

For Migraine Prevention "Honestly, after reading all these terrible reviews, I know I am not crazy. Since starting baclofen 10 mg 3x a day, I have had tons of panic attacks. My BP has skyrocketed, and I get so sick to my stomach I have thrown up. The panic attacks are the worst. It makes my heart race like crazy. I’ll nod off like I’m passing out, only to jerk up awake again with my heart pounding. This medication is absolutely terrible. I am stopping it immediately now that I saw on here I am not the only one."
