Atomoxetine for ADHD "80 mg enables me to concentrate. I take it at bedtime. I have noticed a change in appetite, but that's good for me because I am overweight. I do have dry mouth a lot. The doctor is moving me up to 120 mg. So we will see how that works. I am able to get more done while on this medicine."

Atomoxetine for ADHD "I have been taking this medication for about a week now for ADD at 40 mg. I had nausea the first couple of days and slight headaches. I decided to take one day off from it, and I have had a migraine all day. Medicine can sort of help with focus, especially for me since I'm severely scatterbrained and forgetful, and it definitely suppresses appetite."

Atomoxetine "This medication has helped me a lot in reducing bulimia symptoms. I have ADHD, but I also have bulimia. It reduced my appetite a lot throughout the day. People with bulimia or BED who also have ADHD should consider discussing this med with their doctor."

For ADHD "I've been taking 50 mg of Strattera every morning for nearly a month. I feel like it's working (though I was warned that it could take up to 6 weeks for me to feel the effects). My impulsivity has been much easier to get under control, and I do feel a slight increase in my ability to pay attention. The only side effects I can think of are increased thirst (manageable) and a slight decrease in appetite (this far, also manageable)."

For ADHD "I am a 34-year-old female. I have been diagnosed with ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, autism, and depression, and I am currently taking Wellbutrin and Lamictal. I have been on this drug for about 2 weeks now, and so far, I have experienced loss of appetite (personally, I like that side effect because I am obese and need to lose the weight anyway). I have noticed I have more patience, more energy, and am a little more focused. As a hotel housekeeper, I noticed I'm making fewer trips to my cart to grab items. Overall, I am liking this medication."

Atomoxetine for ADHD "I'm 30 and have taken several types of ADD medications since I was young. I stopped taking Adderall/Ritalin when I graduated from college (about 25 years old) because I did not like the side effect, particularly loss of appetite and jitteriness. I have since had to get back on meds because I have a sales job, and I was making mistakes at work. I started on 25 mg a couple of months back, and it worked great at first, but has tapered off some. I wasn't sure if it was still working, but at night when the morning pill wears off, I can't get anything done, and I'm super scatterbrained. That tells me it is working. I should probably take the doctor-recommended evening dose, as well. Only complaint on side effects would be extreme sleep spells."

For ADHD "On atomoxetine for ADHD, my side effects were painful orgasms, urinary retention, waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall asleep, little to no appetite. I think it helped with the original problems (ADHD), but the side effects left me feeling worse off. Don't recommend."

Atomoxetine for ADHD "Side effects are nausea, inability to eat, dry mouth. However, as a grad student, this is an excellent medicine to take for focusing on studying and exams. However, when I am in the clinic, I do not take it."

Atomoxetine for ADHD "Recovering addict, difficult time with focus and motivation - have bipolar. On Lamictal, Risperdal, and Celexa. Was on Ritalin extended release, stopped as it was too much even on a low dose. Due to addiction history, asked about a non-stimulant to help with focus and motivation. Dr. put on 30 mg of Strattera. 1st day was a nightmare. Had depersonalization effects and felt completely out of it 2 hours after the 1st dose. Was nauseated, lost appetite, and just felt scared. Focus was great, but the side effects were overly focused on causing horrific feelings. Took 2 mg Ativan and it didn't help. Finally took PM medication of the Risperdal and was able to sleep. Flushed the medication. The morning after, on the way to work, face and ears feel like they are on fire and still feel off. Hopefully, the effects wear off soon, only took 1 30 mg. Dr. informed if any bad side effects to stop ASAP, and that's what happened. It was a horrible experience, and for a non-stimulant medication, this was worse than any stimulant."

Atomoxetine for ADHD "This medication did not really work for me at all. It gave me massive side effects such as worsened depression, as well as significantly reduced appetite. The benefits to ADHD were minimal and are far inferior to that of stimulants. I would not recommend this as a first-line treatment for ADHD, stimulants are just overall more effective and have fewer side effects."

For ADHD "50-year-old male. I've been taking 80 mg atomoxetine for about 3 months and it seemed to work for a while, then all I ended up with was side effects. I couldn't sleep, had zero energy, was terribly moody, had no desire to eat, depression was worse than ever. I would cry for no reason. Felt paranoid all the time and didn't want to leave the house or see anyone. Everyone could see the difference in me, and it wasn't for the good."

For ADHD "I have been taking Strattera for 7 weeks. The first 4 weeks, I had terrible nausea and diarrhea, could not take meds without a big/protein-heavy breakfast. I immediately lost 5 lbs due to reduced appetite. I started noticing flat affect and low mood at around this time, and at week 7, I'm going off of it. It feels like I'm totally removed/disconnected from social situations, and nothing is funny/interesting to me. It seems to have made me more depressed than when I started simply because I don't feel present. Also, it has given me major fatigue. Oversleeping most days and having to nap during the day to keep my energy up to a functional level. Hopefully, I don't get withdrawal symptoms!"

For ADHD "I posted regarding my son's good experience, now for my own. After struggling with distraction all my life, which I thought was normal and many in my family are the same, I didn't get evaluated until after my son's experience. I was also evaluated and was started on Strattera. The first thing I noticed was feeling increased thirst, some constipation, and loss of appetite. I lost about 5 lbs the first month (yeah!) and found that I felt more 'calm,' less irritable, and less flustered at work. I am an FNP in a busy office, and I was more on task, less easily distracted on the medicine (80 mg). Waiting for a new script, I was off for 2 weeks and the old symptoms came back: forgetfulness, fidgeting, on edge. The med has been great for me!"

Atomoxetine for ADHD "30-60 currently 80 mg... 4 weeks in? Mental effects: I am very paranoid. I had suicidal uncharacteristic thinking, experience anxiety, and very low frustration tolerance for anything. I trust almost no one. However, my explosive temper and impulsiveness seem to be almost nonexistent, better described as sedated. My intrusive thoughts are calming but in an eerily quiet way. Definitely calmer, but many apps open in my head and none will close then. My hyperfocus is now like an intermittent hyperfocus, which is very annoying. Zero creativity, reflecting on my life before medication, leads to depression and very low self-esteem, which has gotten pretty bad. Physical effects: seriously debilitating nausea (TAKE THESE PILLS WITH FOOD ALWAYS). I have obtained what appears to be a bladder infection, but I believe these are something to do with this medication. Slow urinating, sore testicles, abnormal bowel movements. I have appetite loss, taste loss, vision has gotten worse... I don't recommend."

For ADHD "I started this medication about two weeks ago, and it is so 50/50 for me. In some ways, it helps, but in other ways, it is just awful. I feel like I have a stronger ability to stay focused, and I feel more motivated, which is a plus! But everything else is just horrible. I went from fatigued all the time to so much energy that I can't fall asleep, and when I do, I can't stay asleep. I have GERD and IBS, and it's so harsh on my stomach that I lost a few pounds. I don't have a strong appetite, and my bowel movements are more active than normal. My body is so out of whack that I don't even know if it is worth taking anymore."

Atomoxetine for ADHD "This medication sucks. I took 20 mg Adderall XR, which worked wonderfully for my ADHD, for a month, but had to get off of it because I have Tourette Syndrome, and Adderall aggravated my tics. My physician then put me on Strattera. It is extremely expensive since it is patented until May 2017, and I was given a sample 6-week starter titration pack (from 25 mg to 80 mg). I took a 25 mg capsule last night around 7 PM, and an hour later, I was nauseous and lost my appetite, and I experienced sexual dysfunction (it took over an hour to reach a burning, painful orgasm). The next day (today), I am constipated and depressed. I'd recommend clonidine or guanfacine before trying this garbage for ADHD."

For ADHD "On the plus side, I experienced no adverse effects except for appetite suppression and minor weight loss (however, these may not exactly be adverse effects in my case, as I'm a little overweight). On the negative side, atomoxetine seems fairly ineffective at treating my ADHD issues apart from treating the hyperactivity component of my ADHD. I am an adult in my 30s diagnosed with ADHD. My atomoxetine dose is 100 mg daily and have, at the time of writing this review, been on atomoxetine at 100 mg for a month. I live in Australasia (relevant to the question on monthly medication cost as atomoxetine is heavily subsidized for patients where I live.)"

For ADHD "I've been on Strattera for 5 days now, 40 mg in the morning and 200 mg of Wellbutrin SR 2x a day for depression. So far, I think for me it's been good. Only side effects are tiredness during the day, headaches, and loss of appetite. I believe the worst of the side effects happen in the first month of use, so I'd like to try 80 mg in a month to see how I do on that amount. More irritable at times throughout the day, but since I know that can be a side effect, I try to control my mood when I notice it becoming bad. I've not taken it on its own, so I don't know if that's why I am doing good on it, Wellbutrin and Strattera together, but so far so good."
