"I have had depression and PTSD that has been resistant to antidepressants for at least one year. I take 2.5 mg of Saphris at bedtime, and it has been a miracle med for me! I fall asleep within 30 minutes and sleep deeply with no bad dreams. The slight bitter taste and tongue numbness after the medication dissolves is no big deal at all! You can eat/drink after 10 minutes, which removes the taste and numbness. I have no weight gain and no sugar cravings, which I had with other meds in the same family! I am not experiencing any other side effects. I am functioning in a way that I haven't been able to in years! I awake in the morning hopeful for the first time in years!"

For Schizophrenia "I'm on month two of taking Saphris generic, moved from 5 mg once a day to 5 mg twice a day. For the first few weeks, everything around me felt numb and unfeeling, but this went away, and now I've noticed some improvement, especially with thoughts that bothered me at night. I feel like I have more personality. I'm on 4 mg Risperidone, 600 mg Seroquel, and 1 mg Rexulti, as well as the asenapine. I still have episodes where I hear the voices and where my brain turns to mush. I'm hoping this eventually improves. The taste isn't bad, just a little bitter. Running out of options as I'm already on high doses of antipsychotics."

"I have tried so many medications for relief of my OCD and panic attacks, and so many of them failed until I tried Saphris. I've been on it for about a month and never felt better. I didn't want to take benzos because I hated the memory loss and was afraid of addiction, but aside from the awful taste (which is worth it for how much it helps me), Saphris has been the best medication for eliminating intrusive thoughts and constant anxiety."

Asenapine for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "Can't give a real good rate for this drug since I'm only taking it for the second time today. It tastes bad, tongue numb for a few minutes after taking it. So far it is just making me tired and loopy and having some gas tonight. But then I have been very, very tired for many months now, and perhaps the extra sleep this allows will help me get back to normal again. I have had noises, shadows, racing thoughts, and flashbacks to deal with that may have been due to anxiety, etc. Hope I don't have stomach upset in the future as someone else mentioned that happening to them. I will have to return and give a new rating after I've been on this a while longer."

Asenapine for Bipolar Disorder "Taking for Bipolar Disorder II and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Works nearly immediately and works wonders. Never had a quieter head or felt better. The horrible taste is worth it."

Asenapine for Schizophrenia "I love this med. It does taste horrible and makes my tongue numb, but overall it is very helpful and helps with the voices."

Asenapine for Bipolar Disorder "Saphris works extremely well for me to suppress my mania. As for the bad taste, it is possible to get the tablets in black cherry flavor."

For Bipolar Disorder "3 days on it, so far, so good, my sleep is great, no racing thoughts or paranoia. The only con is the taste, but the benefits outweigh it. Will try to post an update in about a month."

Asenapine for Schizoaffective Disorder "I'm not good with any atypical antipsychotics. After the third day, I swelled up 7 pounds, my face, hands, calves, and feet were swollen. I was VERY asthmatic. I'm schizoaffective, depressive type. Mentally, for three days on 5 mg morning and evening, I didn't feel half bad. But I got a little strange mentally that I cannot quite describe. Almost as if it made me somewhat loopy. It never made my tongue or mouth numb, had a bad taste for about 5 minutes. I don't know quite what happened, but it was lousy waiting out the half-life of the drug. I don't know if it interacted with one of my other medications."
