For Major Depressive Disorder "This drug is an absolute lifesaver for me. Things are so good for me right now. I've been on it for about 2 weeks now at 5 mg at bedtime, along with 50 mg of Amitriptyline and 150 mg of Sertraline. The first week was kind of rough because it made me gag easily, and I was constantly nauseated. I felt really weak and tired. This is the end of the 2nd week, and the side effects have subsided for the most part. I have regained my sex drive, and I can feel emotions again. I recently bought a house with my fiancé, and when we heard the news of our clear to close, I actually cried from happiness (mind you, that's NEVER happened to me before). If you feel like the side effects are unbearable, stick it out. They seem like they go away."

For Borderline Personality Disorder "I have taken it for 3 days now, but can’t handle the side effects. The worst thing about this drug is the crazy headache and nausea it gives me. I also can’t sleep at all cause everything is so itchy. But some drugs aren’t meant for everyone. I have also tried Seroquel, and it made me really sleepy, but after having slept for a few hours, I felt so much better and in control of my emotions."

Aripiprazole for Bipolar Disorder "DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE ANXIETY. It was a never-ending panic attack. It made my mania worse because of the anxiety and restlessness. It also made me extremely nauseous to the point where eating my favorite foods was a chore. The only positive was that it got me out of my depression that Seroquel put me in and made me feel like a normal human being again. The weight loss was a plus too, considering Seroquel made me gain so much weight."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Aripiprazole was used as treatment for Major Depressive Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and ADHD Inattentive Subtype. Took it for 6 days in the morning. The drug induced a strong sense of sedation, mild anxiety/restlessness, and nausea. Moreover, I felt the urge to go to sleep every hour or so. In summary, the effects of the drug didn't suit my problems very much as it made me unnecessarily more tired during the day. The constant restlessness increased thoughts of suicide for me. Wouldn't recommend unless you have the conditions aripiprazole is usually used for."

Aripiprazole "I dealt with nausea and overheating the summer of 2008. That winter, she gave me 15 mg, and it made the difference. I'm active-minded. I sleep 6 to 8 hours. I have energy to mow 8 lawns a week and work twenty-seven hours a week. Exercise is normal, but I tire when I mow too many lawns at once. Three average lawns work per day, the doctors are ecstatic and hopeful. One thing I did is lose 35 lbs in seven months-5 lbs per month. I'm 5'5" and was 235 lbs, and now I'm 203 lbs. Everyone I know says how great I look and feel! I'm me again, thanks ABILIFY!"

For Schizophrenia "Day 1 of taking it, and I seriously can't stand it. It's worsened a couple of aspects of my symptoms, and for the first time in my life, I can't sleep. I can't think straight. My hands have been numb for hours. I'm nauseous, and if I get up, I'll just vomit everywhere. And so much more!! Looks like I'm bedridden until the effects wear off. Not to mention I took the 2 mg. Could you imagine if it were the standard 10 mg dose? Just be forewarned if you take it, this is my first time trying a mood medicine. Everyone has different reactions."

Aripiprazole for Bipolar Disorder "I was on 0.5 mg of Abilify for two weeks. I couldn't stay still, couldn't sleep, couldn't smell food without getting sick to my stomach. I feel like I have to be doing something constantly. I get bad shakes all the time. I couldn't even eat, I lost weight, I only weighed 118 lbs to begin with. I was nauseous, I had to take nausea medication for something. I was in a constant state of anxiousness, and it was horrible. I'm glad it has worked well for other people, but this just wasn't for me. I'm off of it, and it took me a month to get out of my system. My psychiatrist changed me to Latuda 40 mg at night, and I have my life back. It took about two to three weeks for me to see the changes, but they did come. I enjoy everyday life now, I feel normal now. Your doctor can give you a coupon to pay no more than $15.00. I am on Latuda 40 mg at night and Klonopin 0.5 twice a day or as needed. No side effects."

For Bipolar Disorder "I'm on Lamictal for half a year now for bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety and started heavily dissociating a few weeks ago. I got 5 mg aripiprazole to try, and the side effects immediately started on the first day. I've got a sensitive stomach, and the combination of those two meds made me incredibly nauseous. Then I got really tired, slept the whole day, and felt like having a fever. But the worst one is the photopsia at night. I constantly wake up, and when opening my eyes, I see pulsating flashes of light. During the day, my eyes feel dry, and some pressure is there too. I think that this is just bad luck. Sometimes meds work, sometimes they don't. I will go off aripiprazole as soon as possible, but I can see it working since I've experienced short moments of clarity. The side effects, sadly, are just too much for me."

For Bipolar Disorder "It was fine, but had heaps of trouble sleeping on it. Could fall asleep easily but couldn't stay asleep and would wake up about 4-5 times in the night. Got worse with an increase in dosage, and I ended up just not taking it after waking up at 2 a.m. feeling very nauseous. Reduced my hypomania incredibly, but doesn't do much for depression on its own."

"I was prescribed aripiprazole for severe panic disorder, and all I can say was it made me 100 times worse. I'm currently coming off of it, and the withdrawal is the worst I've ever had. Shaking uncontrollably, nausea, mild diarrhea, insomnia, and I was on a very low dose of 3 mg. I would not recommend this drug to anybody who's experiencing the same as me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I took it for the first time, and it made me violently ill. I felt nauseated, so I stood up to get my phone and felt like I was on laughing gas: my vision was completely black, echoey sounds, lack of balance, no sense of time. I stumbled around like a drunk for a while and then threw up everywhere. I will never take it again."
