For Sinusitis "Sick as a dog about 3.5 hours after taking my first dose of the antibiotic amoxicillin with clavulanate. I experienced severe vomiting and diarrhea. My doctor wants me to try again after 24 hours, no food, just Gatorade, then try again with food. I don't think I am going to do that because I have had a similar reaction to another antibiotic, but not as extreme."

For Bacterial Infection "Took this medicine 3 times a day for 7 days. Felt better. After finishing the medicine on day 9, got a serious allergic reaction and a rash that covered 30% of my body! Chest felt like getting crushed inside, throat being strangled. I rushed to the hospital twice. They gave me steroids for 5 days and cream to try and stop the itching. I've taken penicillin before and had no problem. Not sure why this medicine caused a delayed serious allergic reaction? There was no warning while taking this medicine; it just hit me on the 9th day (a day after finishing the medicine). Common side effects include diarrhea, vomiting, and allergic reactions."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "I was prescribed Augmentin for healing my ear infection. I threw up shortly after taking the first dose. I felt dizzy and very unwell. I will never take this medicine again. I feel worse than I did before taking it. Amoxicillin by itself should do the trick without all the side effects of Augmentin."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "After taking Augmentin, the very next day, I had the worst migraine of my life. I don’t know how I powered through school, but I did. The next day, the migraine was still very present. I woke up and vomited because my head was hurting so bad. I went back to the ER. They hospitalized me after that for four days. I had CT scans and everything. Worst experience ever on Augmentin, that is."

For Sinusitis "I have taken amoxicillin with clavulanate for 3 days and have not had much improvement. Funny thing, I did not know that this is the same as Augmentin. I took Augmentin years ago and threw up so bad I had to stop after one day. I have not had that experience this time. Odd that my doctor would prescribe it for me because it is on my chart as an allergy."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Oh my God. Worst experience ever. Though I had food poisoning, I have been on and off of the toilet at least 7 or 8 times within 5 hours at work with extreme, awful diarrhea. It is making me want to cry, it is so awful. For Middle Ear Infections "In a home of 6, 5 of us were prescribed this medication, me and the kids (16, 6 & 4) together and the hubby 4 days earlier, so we pretty much knew what we were getting: headache, sinus pressure, stiff neck, diarrhea and vomiting, exhaustion, stuffed nose, stomach ache, and cramps. Both my daughter and I got our periods early too. I was the one who made it out with the worst pains ever. (Female 46) Still taking it, but will never take it again! For Bacterial Infection "Taking co-amoxicillin for a kidney infection and vomited the first day of taking it, couldn't hold even water down. And now, day 3, I have the worst diarrhea I've ever had, watery stools every half an hour or sometimes 15 minutes. For Sinusitis "Back before my turbinectomy, I used to get nasty sinus infections once or twice a month. This medicine always got rid of these infections. No side effects other than feeling tired and very occasional diarrhea. Definitely better than my one experience with ciprofloxacin, which made me vomit and have incessant diarrhea."

For Pneumonia "I tried to stick through amoxicillin with clavulanate to the end, I mean I really, really tried. After having seizures during a procedure, I was on a ventilator for several days and developed a lung infection, so the hospital sent me home with Augmentin after I was cleared. Little did I know my woes had only begun, because this medication caused me some of the worst pain, diarrhea, and vomiting I had ever had. As the days dragged on, it became more and more violent. I begged my follow-up doctor for anything that would help because the usual methods were futile. She gave me some Zofran, which I recognized as helping at the hospital for the post-anesthesia nausea, so I was like 'score!' My dudes, that didn't even help. It did keep me from vomiting, but the nightmare of Augmentin that wants to leave your body whether it be from one end or the other. Thankfully, I switched. Anyway, I dreamed of incinerating this vile medication until I finally settled on throwing it as hard as I could into the trash."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "This was for an animal bite that might cause infection. It's a horrible medicine, late period due to the medicine. Horrible diarrhea and vomited one morning. For Bronchitis "I was first prescribed this antibiotic when I went to the emergency ward with pneumonia. I filled the prescription and finished it. I don't recall any side effects, but I will return to this later. The second time was six months later. I took the first tablet, and about 45 minutes later, I broke out in a cold, shivering sweat. I thought at the time that I was lucky to get the prescription when I did because my symptoms had radically worsened. The third time was last night. I broke out in the same cold, shivering sweat, but this time it was obvious it was not a symptom but a side effect of the medication. The second side effect was three hours of nausea and vomiting. Frankly, I'm afraid to take another pill. It's a mystery why I didn't notice side effects the first time I was prescribed this medication except to say that I may have confused symptoms of pneumonia, which I had never had before, and side effects of this medication. I cannot recommend this medication."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I really hated it at first. I vomited twice as it had the taste of metal. But then I tried something new and I didn’t feel the taste and had no problems. This is how I did it: First, you need to take the amount of Augmentin (it has to be in liquid form) you need, then take any type of apple juice, about 110 ml. Next, you add an ice cube. After you add the Augmentin with the apple juice, finally add more apple juice and add a straw. Now drink. Small WARNING: at the end, you might feel a little bit of it."
