For Sinusitis "I had a mild orbital fracture close to my sinuses, so I was given this medicine to take for seven days. While on this medication, I felt extremely ill: slight stomach pain, diarrhea maybe once, night sweats, extreme fatigue, sore throat, stiff neck, and itchy skin. After taking all of the medication, it took days for my body to recover and for me to feel normal again."

For Sinusitis "Ear infection, sinusitis - 10 days of this horrible pain in my stomach, sweaty palms, feet, chest pain. Urgent care had me drink... lidocaine with Maalox to kill the stomach pain. I thought I had a virus again... Dr. said if it doesn't stop hurting in a few days I needed to go to an upper GI specialist. This pain and other side effects are not worth it."

For Strep Throat "Had a fever about 38 degrees Celsius, really painful sore throat with excruciating joint and muscle pain for two days, was only on paracetamol, two tablets six hourly because I could not even swallow my saliva or walk to the bathroom. Private GP started me on it, and on day two, I could already eat and move around the house. I only had mild stomach pain and increased bowel movement instead of once daily, it is three times, plus slight nausea. Today I am on the third day and am feeling much better."

For Sinusitis "Took Augmentin for sinus and ear infection. After 3 days of stomach pain, I stopped. Called doctor and he said to take it on a full stomach. I did what he suggested and spent the night in the bathroom throwing up. This medicine is insane!! Throwing it in the trash. Don't you think I should get my $55.00 dollars back that I spent on it? But of course I won't."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "A lot of you seem to have stomach issues with this, me myself having inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and taking this didn't hurt my stomach at all. I saw one guy post he took 4 tabs in one day and complained on here of stomach pain. Please don't take more than 2 a day (depending on strength), otherwise, of course, your stomach will hurt. Antibiotics kill all bacteria, including good ones in your stomach. The max dose is about 875 mg twice a day, which I'm on, and no stomach issues, and I got Crohn's disease."

For Sinusitis "I lasted 6 days on this. 2 pills every 12 hours. I had severe stomach cramps, but it wasn't diarrhea. Eating helped a little bit with the vomiting feeling. I drank a lot of water as I felt dehydrated. I experienced insomnia every day up until 6 am, sleeping only 5 hrs a day, maybe even 4 with an hour nap. My skin became very itchy and broke out in hives on my elbows and upper arms. My lower back and ankles also broke out in hives. The headache is just so bad... within the first dosage, I had the headache immediately. I feel better from my ear infections, throat, nose, and eyes... but the hives are still there... follow up with Dr. asap."

For Sinusitis "I started taking this on Feb 28, 2017. After a day, I started having mild diarrhea, and then came stomach pains. Oh, it hurts so much! Feels like your stomach acids are eating away at your guts! So this morning, I decided not to take any more remaining antibiotics until I talk to my doctor about a different antibiotic. Not only did I have these few problems, I also felt fatigued all day for the last 2 days while on this. Everyone is different, so for me, this does not work. I still feel congested even after a few days of taking this!"

For Sinusitis "Three years ago, I was prescribed Augmentin for a sinus infection. Within two days, I was having terrible stomach pains, nausea, and severe bloating. Began vomiting, stayed severely bloated, and was in constant pain. Lost 40 pounds in 2 months even with eating regularly. Was not absorbing anything I was eating. After multiple misdiagnoses and exploratory surgeries, I was diagnosed with SIBO. One month later, I developed colitis and spent 5 days inpatient in the hospital. Still cannot tolerate gluten and have lingering digestive problems three years later. Also, now have a phobia of taking antibiotics and new medications for the first time. This took a year of my life from me. I had taken it several times prior and tolerated it well, and this time, it destroyed all of the healthy bacteria in my body. I will never take this drug again or anything similar to it. If you have to, load up on probiotics and yogurt and pray."

For Sinusitis "I was given Augmentin for a sinus infection that I had been dealing with for over a week. I was prescribed 2 pills a day for 10 days. Taking 1 pill was enough for me to know that I never want to put Augmentin into my body again. I took it right after eating a full meal, but that didn't help. About 45 minutes after taking my first pill, I was curled up in the fetal position with horrible stomach pain and chills. I also experienced extreme panic and anxiety. My heart was racing, and I was having crazy thoughts. There's no way I could get through 10 days of that, it wasn't worth the way it made me that night. Everyone is different, but I'd strongly suggest asking for an alternative if your doctor tries to prescribe it to you."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "I've had several antibiotics before in my life with no problem. If the doctors ever try prescribing me Augmentin again, I'm refusing. WORST EXPERIENCE of my life. I've been extremely nauseous with stomach pain. Some Pepto took care of the discomfort easily enough, but that's not my main complaint. It has destroyed my sense of taste and smell, everything reeks, I can't make out any smells, everything has the same disgusting odor. There's a putrid bitter taste in my mouth all the time. I lost almost 10 lbs through my 10 days of this antibiotic simply because of how little I could eat or keep down. Granny Smith apples and yogurt were the only things that didn't have that bitter putrid taste. Not to mention it took 7 days for my fever to break when the doctors told me 3-4."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed Augmentin (500/125 three times a day for 10 days) by my dentist for a tooth infection. The first day wasn’t so bad, but by the second day, I could feel anxiety and nausea creeping in. On the third day, I had a strong headache and stomach pain with loose stools, although I never vomited. Over the next couple of days, my blood pressure spiked significantly, I had a difficult time sleeping, and I felt very anxious along with the other above-mentioned symptoms. The good news is that my tooth, jaw, and ear pain went away, caused by the tooth infection. On day 7, I called my dentist and explained my side effects to him, and he advised that I go off the medicine. I have never had any severe reactions to any antibiotics in the past. Well, at least for me, this stuff is bad in my opinion. I don’t plan on taking it again, although it did help my infection go away."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Very effective on infection, but stomach severe pains in the upper stomach. Had to stop taking it. Severe diarrhea, non-stop to the toilet. May need to see the doctor now, and I stopped taking it, and stomach still hurts."

For Bacterial Infection "I have taken regular amoxicillin before, but my doctor put me on this to clear up a sinus infection. BCBS covered it, and I took one dose when the prescription was filled with yogurt, milk, and chicken soup, and 2 hours later had intense diarrhea, and I vomited every 2-3 minutes from 4 pm to 9:30 pm. I thought I was literally going to die or have to have my stomach pumped or something. Made me severely dehydrated, and from all the vomiting, I had the most intense stomach pain I have ever felt in my life. Going in for a shot today and getting off this medication."

For Bacterial Infection "This medicine was so bad. I gave it to my son for a sinus infection. During 6 to 7 a.m., he came to me and complained about stomach pain, and then all of a sudden, he ran to the bathroom and threw up a lot, five times. We found out about the side effects when we all woke up!! This all happened, and it was day one of the medication. Please refer another medicine."

For Sinusitis "This is by far the worst antibiotic I've ever taken. Hours after my first dose, I had severe stomach pain and was up all night running back and forth to the bathroom. My Fitbit has also been telling me that my heartbeat is faster than normal. I've been in fat burn mode while laying in bed. I've definitely noticed insomnia, as I've been up until 3-4 am all week. I'm always tired as well. I'm only halfway through the pills, and there is no way I'll ever take them again, as today I woke up with more severe stomach pain. My sinuses do feel better though."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "Never again. Actually, I have taken this before, no problems. This time, a different story! Not sure why they gave me such a high dose. The doctor told me to wait a few days before starting to see if the ear pain cleared, as my ear really wasn’t inflamed. I did just that, though, but then figured I would just take it. I got 5 doses in me before the stomach pain started. Now I also have weird tingling and leg pains. So I dumped them! Hopefully, my side effects resolve as quickly as they came. I also am starting to get a yeast infection!"

For Sinusitis "I have a nasty sinus infection, went into upper chest. Thankfully, I called my doc before it went on to bronchitis, which has happened times before. I have taken Augmentin numerous times, and it works great and very quickly! My only problem is trying to keep it down. Hurts my stomach, and I eat Greek yogurt with it, still, many times I can't keep it down. I just got some tips on this site and in reviews to eat a light meal, not large, and not to take a probiotic at the same time as I take Augmentin. Alternate. Trying these suggestions. Thanks."

"On Amox-Clav 875/125 for 7 days following an open appendectomy procedure. I’ll assume this is to kill any possible infection of the tissues or anything in the lungs post-surgical. I’m currently on day 4. As far as antibiotics go, this isn’t terrible. I prefer regular amoxicillin as this has more marked side effects. The only real complaint I have is it hurts my stomach, and I go to the bathroom about 8 times a day. The GI effects are pretty wicked. And I always get a yeast infection, never fails. 4 stars because it’s neither great nor bad. -1 because of the side effect frequency. Having stomach discomfort on top of a stomach incision is never fun. Can’t wait to finish this out."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "This caused major bleeding issues for me. After taking for a few days, I started bruising really bad and had problems eating anything because my stomach felt like a fire (I took it after eating to try and prevent that, but it didn't work). I was stuck with water, bread, and tiny-cut plain spaghetti. A week into the treatment, I developed a spontaneous LARGE hematoma on my backside that put me in the ER for a night. I may need to have it surgically removed in the next few days."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Oh my God. Worst experience ever. Though I had food poisoning, I have been on and off of the toilet at least 7 or 8 times within 5 hours at work with extreme, awful diarrhea. It is making me want to cry, it is so awful. I can't drink water, I already threw up for about 13 minutes, and my stomach is hurting like no other. DO NOT TAKE THIS ... TORTURE."

For Sinusitis "Day one of this medication, I started getting stomach pain. However, by day two, it was gone. Thought I'd gotten lucky. How wrong I was. I managed four days of a seven-day course on this drug. The headache? Man, let me tell you, it was like no other headache I've ever had in my 38 years of life. It felt like a band wrapped around my head, getting tighter and tighter to a point it was making me dizzy and nauseated. I feel more unwell now than I did before starting these antibiotics. I will never ever take them again. If you're prescribed these, all I can say is good luck. You're gonna need it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "Honestly, the worst drug I’ve ever taken. A doctor prescribed me this after a second strep throat infection, and after the third dose, I'm experiencing stomach pain like never before and throwing up every five seconds (dry heaving included). Do not take this drug, do not let a doctor prescribe you this if you’re sensitive in any way whatsoever, and always do your research before taking an Rx."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I just started Augmentin antibiotic yesterday for a sinus infection and have had 3 doses, but it's the worst antibiotic ever. I have had really bad stomach pain and terrible diarrhea, and today I only took one dose, but it didn't get any better. My dentist prescribed this to treat a so-called sinusitis that was coming on due to issues with my teeth, of which I haven't felt sick at all. So yes, I agree that this is not an antibiotic that should easily be the first choice for everyone, especially for people with sensitive stomach linings like myself. I already have it bad most of the time, so I don't need a medicine to make it worse. I will be calling the dentist tomorrow ASAP for a change. I do not recommend this to anyone, especially those suffering from gastroenteritis. Be careful."
