For Skin and Structure Infection "Took Augmentin for a bacterial infection in my foot. This is rough stuff. During the 10-day cycle, although it cleared up the infection in my foot, I had begun to develop headaches, felt weak and tired, sleeplessness, and some stomach discomfort. It works well if you can endure all the side effects. Would not recommend if other options are available."

For Bronchitis "This antibiotic is the best when it comes to treating sinus infections. I have had bronchitis for about 3 months, and it’s clearing everything up! I have a very weak stomach and have never been able to take antibiotics and finish a full round, so this time I started taking Omeprazole 30 minutes before my dose is due and, of course, with food, and only once experienced stomach upset. I have read a lot of people complain about diarrhea. I suffer from constipation and have been to the bathroom very often, so I’m guessing that is my equivalent of that."

For Middle Ear Infections "This medication has always worked great for me whenever I have an ear infection... much better than the regular Amoxicillin too. However, be sure to follow your doctor's orders by taking this medicine with food while getting enough probiotics, as it will give you stomach problems along with diarrhea if you don't comply."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I've been taking this for about two weeks to combat cellulitis, and after first trying Keflex and Bactrim, which did not work, the Augmentin is working quite well. I haven't had any stomach upset or GI discomfort. I haven't had any diarrhea that couldn't be easily stopped with a normal dose of over-the-counter loperamide. Had a slight bit, but the loperamide fixed that right up."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed Augmentin for what my doctor thought was a skin infection on my right leg. Well, after taking my first dose, within 2 hours, my stomach became extremely upset... burning... nausea... diarrhea... bloating... and anxiety and panic have always been an issue for me, but after Augmentin, it was immediately 20 times worse. My doctor ended up telling me to stop taking it on day 5 because it was getting worse and worse. My skin infection cleared up with some hydrocortisone cream and antibiotic ointment, but it's been over 3 months since stopping this medication, and I'm still having major stomach issues and mental issues, so please be careful, people, especially if you have anxiety or stomach issues beforehand."

For Strep Throat "I had a terrible strep infection. My throat was so painful, and my body ached. Was prescribed penicillin. After 4 doses and no improvement, returned to the doctor and was prescribed Augmentin. I knew the side effects would be bad but was desperate to see improvement in the strep, which 2 doctors described as a really bad case. After 2 doses, NO SIDE EFFECTS, my stomach was fine, I saw improvement in my throat. After the 3rd dose, I started noticing some upset stomach and a bad headache. Hoping this headache doesn't last."

For Sinusitis "I am at the end of day 3 of the medication, and I can't do it anymore. The side effects are making life miserable, just in a different way than I started with. I went in because of the headache and congestion that would not respond to anything over the counter, plus vertigo. The vertigo went away after the first day of meds, but the headache is significantly worse. Additionally, my stomach hurts really bad and constantly feels like I have overeaten a massive amount all the time, whether I have eaten or not. I have also had some mild diarrhea. So not worth it for me!"

For Sinusitis "Was put on this for an ear and sinus infection. By my second day, I was having bad stomach cramps, excessive bowel movements, some diarrhea, nausea, body aches, joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, nerve tingling in legs and feet, constant headache. Also, I began spotting on my second day, and it was one week before my period was due, this never happens. I spotted until my period started. I have three more days left, and I feel worse than I did before I started it. My ear isn’t completely better yet either, my sinuses have cleared up some but not all the way. I called my doctor, and he said he is hesitant to change my script as my infection was/is so bad, and asked that I just push through side effects. Never again!"

For Sinusitis "Prescribed 2000 mg spread over two tablets a day for sinusitis. Lasted 2 days on the medication and had to stop. Severe nausea and wretched general ill feeling, incredibly upset stomach with excessive bowel movements, to the point mucus was being passed. Thrush and exposure to further infection resulted. Doctor took me off them with immediate effect and being put on something else tomorrow."

For Middle Ear Infections "This drug was prescribed for my 2.5-year-old for acute otitis media serous. The first two days were great, and he felt better within hours of taking it, but by the third day, his stomach was so messed up. Took probiotics and gave yogurt, but 4 blowout diapers in a matter of hours, followed by nausea, and his booty was so red that he couldn't even sit down. The side effects were too severe, and had to take him off as his little system could not withstand 10 days of it."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Don't know what's worse... the cellulitis infection or side effects of Augmentin. Headache, gassiness, bloating, stomach upset from day one. Horrible vomiting on day five. Thank goodness I only have a seven-day Rx. Calling the doctor tomorrow and will beg not to take the last two days or switch to something else."

For Bacterial Infection "I have 3 days left of Augmentin for a sinus infection. I have had a mild headache and stomach cramps since taking this medicine. I forgot to take a pill at dinner and instead took it before bed. I couldn't get to sleep since I became very stuffy to the point that I couldn't breathe out of my nose. I started to feel heavy in my chest, so I had to get up to get my breathing under control. I didn't realize that others have had similar side effects. I will call my doctor and see if she recommends I finish the medicine. No Augmentin for me next time."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Was prescribed the 875 mg tabs every 12 hours for an infected cyst. Right from the 1st dose, I experienced stomach upset, severe bloating, and diarrhea that burned. Within several days, I also developed a vaginal yeast infection and severe yeast rashes in both armpits. I normally have a cast iron stomach and can take normally any medication without meals and have no problems. The Augmentin caused bad side effects even with meals. Stay away from this drug, it is well known to cause stomach problems."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "The pharmacist, physician, and nurse told me Augmentin could or may give me diarrhea. So I started eating the BRAT diet, yogurt, and drinking a lot of water. Mild, dull stomach discomfort with mild cramping on days 1 and 2. Day 3 is when diarrhea started. On the 7-day order."

For Urinary Tract Infection "UTI symptoms were alleviated after day 1, together with fever. I woke up on day 2 feeling fine, started feeling worse again after 1st dosage in the morning. TAKE WITH FOOD! What I noticed is that when the antibiotics stay in my system, I feel worse, e.g., I take it every 12 hours, so by the 8th hour, I feel better and fine until I take it 4 hours later. Bloated stomach and intestines, always passing gas, luckily, no diarrhea yet. Will remember to update this review hopefully by the time I finish the 5 days in 2 more days."

For Bronchitis "Scary. I had taken this a year ago and had to stop after 2 days because I was getting really bad palpitations. Last week (I figured I'd give it a second try), I took 1 dose of Augmentin before bed and ended up in the ER about 4 1/2 hours later with a full-body rash (after only 1 dose!). My skin was on fire. Purple blotches all over. Stomach upset. Back pain. Spent the next 3 days with a terrible rash and hives. Turns out I'm allergic to anything penicillin-based (amoxicillin). I'm sure it's a very good/strong antibiotic for those that can tolerate it, but if you've had any type of adverse reaction in the past, whether stomach upset or rash, etc., I'd highly advise staying away. Could be that you have an actual allergy and that it's not just a bad side effect of the drug. Stick with Levaquin!"

For Sinusitis "I've taken this briefly before but don't remember having side effects like this time around. I wake up in the middle of the night with nausea. I've had stabbing headaches that are worse than my usual vertiginous migraines. My stomach is so bloated and just very upset all the time. My ears feel better, but I started another allergy med at the same time, so I don't know if it's due to that or this. I certainly wouldn't take this med unless you really need it. Can't wait to finish."

For Strep Throat "In 2015, my doctor prescribed me Augmentin 625 for 10 days. After completing this course, my strep throat problem was gone, but I haven't been able to sleep for several months, sweating, feeling like my body is shaking and having nightmares. The next 6 months, acid reflux with too much burping, with lots of air coming out and stomach cramps and problems with my throat and colon, and from time to time, ear pain. I started treatment like GARD and IBS, but my health became poor, even my immunity power went down. In the next 6 months, I stopped all drugs and started taking a healthy diet and regular exercise. I feel better and better."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed Augmentin 875 mg every 12 hours 2 days ago. Today (after 4 tabs), I began to have diarrhea and stomach aches. I was prescribed this drug because my indoor cat got loose outdoors and scared and scratched my hand and bit me. I am a senior lady who has had a blocked intestine before, and after surgery got C. diff and am afraid to continue this drug as I may have a reoccurrence. I'm stopping the dosage tonight and will see the MD tomorrow. I want off this drug! Oh, the reason I had C. diff was because I got Salmonella in the hospital and was given so much IV antibiotics."
