For Sinusitis "Monday morning, I went to my doctor, and she diagnosed me with sinusitis and prescribed me Augmentin. I took my first dose at around 11 a.m. Four hours later, I was feeling terribly nauseous with awful cramps. Though the medication had helped subside the pain in my head, there was a newfound pain in my stomach. I stopped taking the medication on Wednesday because the stomach pains were unbearable. In my experience, this medication helped get rid of my sinus infection, but now I am suffering through daily nausea and cramps, and I have been off the antibiotics for two days."

For Bacterial Infection "I started Augmentin on Thursday morning because I had typhoid. My doctor insisted it would clear it and make me feel better. Since Thursday, I have experienced extreme diarrhea, nausea, and body pains. I wake up 8-10 times during the night to vomit and stool. Both happen simultaneously, and as of this morning, on the fourth day, I feel like I might never get better. I am going to stop it. I have no more strength to even puke or sit up. I can't lie on my belly or back either, and my two sides are aching seriously due to the constant support."

For Kidney Infections "So... I was so scared to take these tablets after reading the reviews. I have Crohn's disease and a very sensitive stomach, but I had a water infection for 3 weeks, which then traveled to my kidneys and made my pancreas swell, so I was prescribed these. First day I took them, I started to feel nausea. I am now on day 5 of these, and the side effects aren't as bad as what I thought. I have a bit of a fuzzy head and feeling nausea and just extremely tired. I have had no sickness or diarrhea. I think the key to this is I eat before I take the tablets, and I make sure to eat some yogurt about an hour after taking them, and I've had no problem, and that's coming from a girl who has a very sensitive stomach normally."

For Strep Throat "This cleared my throat infection within 2 days and made me feel so much better pretty quickly as far as temperature and discomfort were concerned. However, I did vomit with it and felt nauseous for about an hour and a half after taking it. The diarrhea is still with me on day 4."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I was prescribed this to treat my sinus infection. It's been almost two days now, and while I feel slightly better, the nausea and upset stomach are too much for me. I have eaten both yogurt and rice before taking it, and I still get very sick. It is also making everything I eat seem extremely salty. Even when I breathe, I taste salt. I've called my doctor, and they're changing my antibiotic to something else. Apparently, this one is making my potassium levels rise too high."

For Sinusitis "I was diagnosed 7 days ago with a sinus and ear infection. I had vertigo, terrible throat pain, exhausted. After about two days of Augmentin, the pain went away, and I started feeling better. I’m no longer dizzy, having throat and sinus pain or draining in my ear. However, I decided to stop 4 days short of my 10-day course because I’m having AWFUL side effects. Worst abdominal pain ever, constipation, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, back, hip, and leg pain. This doesn’t seem normal. Hoping my sinuses and ear are healed enough, or I’ll be back to the doctor for a different medication."

For Middle Ear Infections "The side effects of this drug were so awful I now fear antibiotics. It gave me severe headaches, extreme fatigue accompanied by an inability to sleep, nausea, itchy skin. It also affected my mental health. I felt sad and sat crying my eyes out for no obvious reason. Truly horrible experience."

For Sinusitis "As a sufferer of many sinus and ear infections, I knew with this 90-degree heat in ACs with poor air quality that I was going to get sick. Got sick last Wednesday with sinus issues, got worse, so went to the primary. The doctor said she didn't think I had a sinus or ear infection, so she told me to continue on neti pots and Sudafed 24. She did give me a prescription if I wasn't feeling better by Monday (today). After a weekend of still feeling miserable, I got the prescription. Usually, I get amoxicillin, and when I looked at the script, it had amoxicillin clav, so I didn't think anything of it. I pick up the script. Take the pill on the way to work. Sick within an hour. Googled and found I was given the generic of Augmentin. Never again! Threw up for an hour straight - not worth it!"

For Sinusitis "I was given this by an ER doctor for sinusitis. I took the first dose at the ER then didn't get a chance to fill the prescription for a week. Was still feeling a little bit of ear congestion from sinusitis, so I grabbed it. The first pharmacy dose gave me nonstop diarrhea and severe nausea, like my stomach was going to explode. So now, I drink probiotic yogurt with a full meal. Took it 2 more times, not as bad but constant anxiety. Had to stop, as I felt worse when taking it. Head congestion is pretty much gone, though I just decided to take Mucinex, and I feel like that has helped even though I'm still dealing with it a bit. Never taking it again."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I started this 6 days ago for an infection from a knife cut on my thumb knuckle. It seemed to work, and swelling is down, however, I was advised to stop using it due to the side effects. Severe nausea upon waking, chills, agitation, unable to keep still yet tired, lightheaded and fatigued. The panic attacks and constant catastrophic thinking really made me need to stop this med. I hope it killed the infection because I think I may need a medicated coma for my next round."

For Strep Throat "This medication did clear up my strep throat within the first couple of days being on it. However, the side effects were horrible. I had watery diarrhea for like 3 days, I always felt nausea after taking it even with food, and I had strong stomach pains. Also, by the 4th day on it, I had a yeast infection."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed Augmentin for what my doctor thought was a skin infection on my right leg. Well, after taking my first dose, within 2 hours, my stomach became extremely upset... burning... nausea... diarrhea... bloating... and anxiety and panic have always been an issue for me, but after Augmentin, it was immediately 20 times worse. My doctor ended up telling me to stop taking it on day 5 because it was getting worse and worse. My skin infection cleared up with some hydrocortisone cream and antibiotic ointment, but it's been over 3 months since stopping this medication, and I'm still having major stomach issues and mental issues, so please be careful, people, especially if you have anxiety or stomach issues beforehand."

For Aspiration Pneumonia "Augmentin caused severe neurological issues with my mother, where she exhibited stroke symptoms without having one and was very lethargic and lacked motor function. My father became very nauseous with severe headaches. I don't know why this drug is pushed on elderly people and want to tell everyone to beware of it!"

For Sinusitis "Was put on this for an ear and sinus infection. By my second day, I was having bad stomach cramps, excessive bowel movements, some diarrhea, nausea, body aches, joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, nerve tingling in legs and feet, constant headache. Also, I began spotting on my second day, and it was one week before my period was due, this never happens. I spotted until my period started. I have three more days left, and I feel worse than I did before I started it. My ear isn’t completely better yet either, my sinuses have cleared up some but not all the way. I called my doctor, and he said he is hesitant to change my script as my infection was/is so bad, and asked that I just push through side effects. Never again!"

For Bacterial Infection "Taking this for an unknown bacterial infection - confirmed with CBC, but I personally suspect it's early onset of appendicitis. I'm on a pretty high dose according to my doc (500 mg 3x daily), and oh man. The brain fog is maybe the worst symptom. It starts in about an hour after taking it and settles in for a few hours. It just feels hard to focus on anything, like my vision is blurred almost. Between that and the insomnia, nausea if I eat food anytime between doses, and diarrhea, what a fun medication!! Loss of appetite too I've noticed. I think it's increased my anxiety too, but I'm a bit of a hypochondriac to begin with, so I don't know, my anxiety might be increased just because this drug is whacky. I'm on this thing for 10 days. Today is day 3. Noticed an improvement in my infection symptoms I think? Much less abdominal pain, but it's hard to get a good gauge on that when you're having diarrhea so much!!"

For Middle Ear Infections "I took 875 mg 2 x per day. It cleared up my ear infection, however, I had diarrhea for most of the 4 days I was taking it. It was a constant diarrhea too, and a few times it just happened, I wasn’t able to control it. I took it with a probiotic each day. I felt nauseous each day and each time I took it. I also felt very out of sorts mentally and felt like I struggled with doing my job and felt anxiety. The day I didn’t take it during work, I felt much better and back to normal. I dropped it after five days and do not intend to take it again. This was a terrible experience."

For Sinusitis "Was prescribed the 875 mg for 2 weeks for sinuses. I developed progressively bad nausea starting day 6. Yesterday, drank water when feeling like I'd throw up, and it helped. Couldn't get to any in time today and threw up for the first time in decades. Don't know if water would have prevented that. I do try to drink a lot of water while on it, but it is difficult when you feel so bloated. Nausea peaks around three hours after taking. I've never had any problems with medication before. Will try to persevere with 5 days left and also try to not be away from home at peak symptom time. If I need antibiotics again, I will certainly ask for something different."

For Sinusitis "So today I started Augmentin, and I’m 18. After I took it, I felt lightheaded and very nauseous. Like so nauseous I was burping a lot. I haven’t made a bowel movement since I’ve taken it, so I don’t know if I have diarrhea. My stomach just hurts. Should I stop taking it?"

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed this twice a day for 7 days. I'm halfway through, and I recently developed severe headaches, decreased appetite, decreased urination, and shortness of breath. No diarrhea yet, but I did feel nauseous this morning. I hope not to get diarrhea because I'm trying to heal an anal fissure. I tested negative for some common STDs, so I don't know what I have, but my groin lymph nodes still seem to be swollen. :/"

For Sinusitis "Prescribed 2000 mg spread over two tablets a day for sinusitis. Lasted 2 days on the medication and had to stop. Severe nausea and wretched general ill feeling, incredibly upset stomach with excessive bowel movements, to the point mucus was being passed. Thrush and exposure to further infection resulted. Doctor took me off them with immediate effect and being put on something else tomorrow."

For Middle Ear Infections "This drug was prescribed for my 2.5-year-old for acute otitis media serous. The first two days were great, and he felt better within hours of taking it, but by the third day, his stomach was so messed up. Took probiotics and gave yogurt, but 4 blowout diapers in a matter of hours, followed by nausea, and his booty was so red that he couldn't even sit down. The side effects were too severe, and had to take him off as his little system could not withstand 10 days of it."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I was prescribed Augmentin several months ago for a severe sinus and upper respiratory infection. Eight days into a 10-day course, I was even more sick than when I started. I ended up on Levaquin and steroids for 14 days as a result. Once again, a few days ago, my primary care prescribed Augmentin for another sinus and UTI despite my protests. Within two days, my chest is considerably worse, and I am also experiencing terrible stomach pain and nausea. I will be on the phone tomorrow insisting on a new medication."

For Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Throughout the whole course, I had horrible nausea and diarrhea. :/ Two weeks after finishing the course, I'm still sick! So fatigued, flu-like symptoms, chills and sweats, terrible cramps, and always in the bathroom. I've now been diagnosed with colitis from Augmentin. I'm more sick after the course than I was before I actually needed the antibiotics! I've never had a reaction to any other antibiotic, so would never take that again."
