For Pain "I was prescribed a low dose for my IBS-related pain. It did help my stomach, but I suffered badly with the side effects. I would take it at night before bed, but during the daytime, I experienced shakes, anxiety, severe trouble focusing, and could barely string sentences together, so I stopped taking it two days ago. I am still suffering from bad shakes and difficulty concentrating. Be very careful with it."

For Pain "My doctor prescribed this drug to treat my severe, chronic migraines. It was a horrible experience. I had vivid nightmares every night and stopped caring about anything. It felt like I was in a fog half the time."

For Depression "Elavil works in my case as a pain killer/antidepressant. It does have some cons that I was not warned about. I was told by my doctor to take 150mg before bed, so I did as told and woke up only when my wife shook me. For a second, I would eat and go right back to sleep. This happened for the first 24 hours, the next day, I had no choice but to stay awake. Being awake, I had problems with balance and depth perception. My mind was racing with what felt like hundreds of thoughts. My ability to speak was reduced to short sentences. It felt like my jaw was not moving fast enough to make more than a few sentences. After taking that dosage down from 150mg to 37.5mg, I am able to speak clearly, but my mind is still a little foggy. The back pain is not as bad."

For Fibromyalgia "This medicine did not help my fibromyalgia at all. I had doctor after doctor ask me to take it as I searched for answers and relief. I finally had to stand up for myself and refuse to take it because it has such a strong effect on me. I felt like a zombie each time I tried it. This is regardless of how small the dose was. The medicine did nothing to ease my pain or any of my other fibromyalgia symptoms."

"I had a terrible experience with these pills. I've never experienced side effects on a medication before, and I trusted my doctor who told me that I was taking such a low dose I shouldn’t have side effects. This medication made me feel like a zombie all day, no matter how much I slept. It caused me to feel spaced out and exhausted and also caused me to experience visual hallucinations before bed one night. Awful pills I would never try again. There are a million people online desperately trying to taper down their dose and get off the pills but having withdrawal symptoms. To each their own, but I wish I never even tried it at all. By the way, I was put on this for functional dyspepsia."

For Migraine Prevention "Did a decent job of preventing migraines and shortening their duration. Couldn't take full dose as it made me zombie-like for a full 24 hours. Also made my heart rate 20-30 bpm faster than normal."
