Minor Side Effects
Some guaifenesin side effects may not need any medical attention. As your body gets used to the medicine these side effects may disappear. Your health care professional may be able to help you prevent or reduce these side effects, but do check with them if any of the following side effects continue, or if you are concerned about them:Less common or rare:
- nausea or vomiting
- skin rash
- stomach pain

Guaifenesin (the active ingredient contained in Robafen) has been generally well tolerated.[Ref]
Gastrointestinal side effects have included stomach upset and vomiting with higher than recommended doses. Doses recommended for expectoration have rarely been associated with gastrointestinal upset.[Ref]
Nervous system side effects have occasionally included dizziness and headache.[Ref]
Dermatologic side effects have included rare reports of rash.[Ref]
Hypersensitivity side effects have included a report of an anaphylactic reaction.[Ref]
