Valacyclovir for Multiple Sclerosis "I can't say enough about this medication. The quality of my life is greatly improved: neuropathy, fatigue, low body temperature, and heat tolerance. The only side effect I have is that I get more dizzy if I get up quickly from a squatting position."

Valacyclovir for Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I was supposed to take this for suppressive therapy, but I stopped after my outbreak because I couldn't stand the side effects. This pill made me dizzy, and I could hardly function at work. I don't know if this or the HSV-1 is worse."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I have had genital herpes for the past 6 years. I caught it from my partner, so I didn't feel the need to use suppression, and my outbreaks did get less severe and less frequent over time. I recently got divorced, so I got on Valacyclovir as a daily suppressant since it can reduce my risk of passing it to a new partner (using condoms and paying attention to symptoms) to about 1%. I stayed taking it about 2 days into an outbreak and noticed a reduction in symptoms in a matter of hours. The only side effects I've had are a bit of fatigue and dizziness (I also take other meds that cause that, so it may be cumulative) and the occasional headache if I don't stay hydrated enough. Totally worth it to feel more normal though."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "I was diagnosed with herpes simplex virus back in November 2013. My first OB happened a few days ago. Only one blister around my genital area. My doctor prescribed valacyclovir 500 mg, 1 tablet twice daily for 5 days, and acyclovir 7 times daily for 7 days. As soon as I started taking the medicines, the blister decreased in size, and there is little to no pain. I'm going to see my doctor again this Friday so he can prescribe a suppression regimen. Lifesaver medicine with the possibility of suppressing the spread of the virus. Little to no side effects, mostly dizzy and tired. Worth it."

Valacyclovir for Herpes Simplex, Suppression "It does work without a doubt, but made me pretty sick in the process. It made me extremely dizzy and nauseous, and I just had to quit taking it. I felt so out of it for days and unbalanced. Yes, I would use it again if the sores popped back up, but wouldn’t take the whole course."

For Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Valtrex is awesome, however, the generic is almost like taking a placebo. I have to take a whole bunch of it for it to do anything. I really don’t think our country cares if a generic is as good as the real deal, as long as it saves the insurance money. I’ve also had reactions like stomach pain, rashes, some weird blood count issues, and dizziness. This drug, even if I take 1g, has so many fillers in it, it barely does its job. I’ve noticed that its price is coming down, that should say something. I also have herpes 5, and it seems like the real Valtrex helps with some of the discomfort, but IDK, the antivirals for that cost about $3500 and quickly ruin your liver function. Anyway, this drug should have to stand up to the standards of the brand, there shouldn’t be a difference!"

For Varicella-Zoster "Extreme fatigue, falling asleep while sitting, flu-like symptoms, unusual dreams, pictures going through my mind, chills, loss of balance, runny nose, lack of appetite, creepy feeling in my scalp, slurring of speech. After the fifth day, I am feeling better, but can't sleep tonight. Blisters are breaking and drying."

For Ramsay Hunt Syndrome "I've had great success with this medicine. I'm taking 500 mg per day. I've had a few bad incidents when my immune system was low, and I forgot to take meds a couple of days. I got the flu and had herpetic seizures in my face. Another time in my left ear. Both reactions were horrible, with extreme pain and vertigo. Get on the medicine and stay on it for the least symptoms."

Valacyclovir for Herpes Simplex, Suppression "Started the 1000 mg twice daily for ten days. Within the first day in, felt dizzy, headache, body aches, stuffy nose, cough, etc. I took the day off work and called the doc."
