For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Many friends have had various reactions to the shots. One had severe cramps and stopped using. In a couple of weeks, the cramps went away. I am on 2.5 going into my 4th week. I get some stomach gurgling, but the main reaction is constipation. I was very regular before usage. I use OTC drugs to manage the problem. After the 4th week, I am going on 5.0. My weight loss so far is 7 lbs. I started at 219. To go along with the shots, I put myself on a low-carb diet. Lots of protein and fiber."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This medication helps me to lower my A1C but gave me esophagitis, nausea, and a lot of stomach discomfort. I got up all to 7.5, and after the discomfort was really bad and not knowing what was going on with me, I got an endoscopy, and esophagitis was found; my doctor decreased the doses, but at the end, even the smaller amount, 2.5, gave me the same bad side effects, and she decided to remove it totally."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Dosage 2.5 mg. First week, had stomach problems for 2 days. Second week, have stomach issues, severe gas pains. This is day four. It is getting somewhat better. Needless to say, I'm not going to continue on this medication. In nine days, I lost one pound. Woop!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Firstly, with all new drugs, there are side effects, which I knew way before I started the meds - okay, stomach aches and being sick are manageable and ease when your body gets used to the drug - while a lot of my friends on the drug say they are drinking double what they used to - I'm not. I will drink the recommended 2 liters a day, maybe a few glasses more, but not excessive amounts - I'm eating more fruit, which relaxes my stomach - I get cold a lot, and my diabetes has improved with a constant level of around 4 to 5 during sleep time - I'm not snacking as much, and yes, it's down to this new drug - started Mounjaro in Sept 24 at a starting weight of 16.5 stone, and after 5 months, I'm down to 13 stone - I've dropped a couple of chest sizes and from a 36-inch waist to a 32-inch - started on the low dose of 2.5 mg and currently up to 7.5 mg as with other conditions my GP holds at a level until he is convinced it's working before he signs off on increasing the drug - concerned about those who don't really need it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Using this medication for over a year now, and at first, I experienced nausea and an upset stomach until I found that using different parts of the body to inject into may help with that, and bam, nausea gone. I had constipation, which was resolved with 1000 mg of magnesium. In the beginning, at my max dose, I had little appetite and ate to keep from getting low blood sugars. I lost 15 lbs and gained 20 back, but I didn't originally take the medication for weight loss, it was to control my type 2, which it has, so I can’t complain about that. My A1C is better and my blood glucose most days are normal. Now I just have to lose the weight I put on to feel comfortable again, which when I discussed this with my provider, she confirmed some people lose weight and keep it off, others will hit a plateau and gain some back once they hit their max dose."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "WOW! Eight months, and I have lost 80 lbs. I had constipation and took Miralax. I had an upset stomach and heartburn. Didn’t last long when on a low dose. On the highest dose, I no longer have an upset stomach and heartburn. I take Contrave, too. I have been overweight my entire life. I was taught to eat three times a day and clean my plate. Now I am able to not eat unless hungry and to leave food on my plate. My whole way of looking and feeling and thinking about food has changed. Life no longer revolves around food. Life-changing."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 7 days ago for type 2 diabetes and weight loss. Days 1, 2, and 3 were great. Appetite was almost nonexistent, great, right? Day 4, my vision started to blur. Days 6 and 7, reoccurring stomach aches and diarrhea. I’m now on day 7 and my vision is so blurry I can barely see up close or far away. My vision was 20/20 before starting this. The insert says it can make diabetic retinopathy worse, to my knowledge, I don’t have diabetic retinopathy. I have an appointment with a retina specialist tomorrow. Works great as an appetite suppressant, and it really lowered my blood sugar, however, I need to see. So it’s going to be a no for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has really helped to decrease appetite and feel full much longer, therefore, improved blood sugar readings. Few side effects so far, with the main one being acid reflux or sour stomach. Currently on a 5 mg dose, now in the 2nd month of treatment."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have only been on this for one week for Rank 18 on December 20, 2022, Diabetes, Type 2 (DMII). I have only gotten sulfur burps and gas. GasX has made that go away. I am overweight, so we will see if this also happens for that. I hope that this doesn't go out of stock like some of the others for people who are not extremely overweight and taking it to lose a few pounds. Some of those may experience bad side effects because this is a diabetic medication, not a weight loss miracle. The weight may partially come back once they are off of it. Those of us who need this medication to survive have to take it the rest of our lives. I do notice that if I overeat, I get an upset stomach. I am pretty sure this is how the medication is supposed to work."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro since October 2023. My A1C was at a 9 at my last appointment. Sept 18, my A1C was at a 5. As an added benefit, I have lost 60 lb. and have been able to review my journey with food, make smarter choices because I don't have the crazy urges to just EAT anything. I did have issues with my stomach the first 5 months on the medication, but I was able to adjust my eating to ease the discomfort. I avoided spicier foods, and very sweet food seemed to cause discomfort, and taking/drinking Activia probiotic dailies really helped. I also noticed I really had to pay attention to my water intake because I didn't feel thirsty and I would forget to drink water, so I set my water out at my desk to make sure I didn't get dehydrated. I did at the beginning, but as I am figuring that out, it's less of a problem. And I am able to move more as the weight comes off. I do experience more headaches now, but I believe that is because I am not always drinking the water I should be drinking."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with 2.5 mg, then increased the dosage to 5.0 mg, and then 7.5 mg without any success. Skipped 10.0 mg and then moved up to 12.5 mg, and that is when the success came! I lost 25 lbs in 3 months, and it brought down A1c from 8.0 to 7.0. I had minor side effects such as diarrhea and some stomach upset. Overall, a very positive experience."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Not long after I began taking Mounjaro, my A1C dropped from 8.1 to 6.7. Finally, something that's helping. I’ve also lost some weight, although it's been a slow process. Now I’m beginning to have stomach issues along with diarrhea. Just makes me feel sluggish. I’m on the 10.0 dose, and the doctor said I may need to drop down to a lower dose. It's very easy to use. Giving myself a shot is not a problem."

"I had high A1C levels and was borderline diabetic. During the first few weeks on 2.5 mg and 5.0 mg, I had minor stomach cramps for an hour or two per day. Those have gone away. I am now on 7.5 mg and will likely go to 10 mg. I am also doing KETO and working out. In early February, I weighed 252 lbs. This morning, I weigh 213 lbs. I feel much, much better and feel like I will be able to get to my goal weight. I hope to get off my medications for high blood pressure and A1C as I get near my goal weight."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I began my journey on April 12th, 2024. I'm currently on my second dose of 7.5. A bit more stomach issues, diarrhea, and extreme fatigue. No desire to eat whatsoever. Since I've started, I have lost a total of 50 lbs. as of 9/2/24. Yes, I'm Type 2 diabetic, but I wanted to give this medication a try to see if it would be of any help for me to lose weight. It has far exceeded my expectations! It's been a bit rough, but I'm seeing great results. I'll continue on this journey with hopes of meeting my own personal weight loss goals."

For Type 2 Diabetes "7.5 dose will cause a distinct slowing of all digestion to the point of causing violent stomach upset (especially if the person overeats). Blood glucose levels dropped significantly at both the 5.0 and 7.5 dosages. I’ve taken 4 - 10 and they have all put me to bed for 4 days. Easy to use following injection instructions."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was skeptical to start the treatment. However, I started and I am happy with it. The first week I lost 4 pounds. After 3 months, I have lost 26 pounds. My glucose is in check and I feel great. No side effects for me, besides some stomach discomfort."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The nausea and bloated stomach I experienced during the first few days are awful. I have increased my dosage to 10 mg now, and 7.5 mg was not as severe. However, I never feel good at all. Each day is better than the previous one, but I never reach a state of feeling 'good' or 'great.' I have also developed sores in my mouth, and I'm not sure if it is related. My tongue feels as though it has been sandpapered. Additionally, constipation is simply terrible. On the positive side, I do appreciate not having constant thoughts about food. Unfortunately, I haven't lost much weight, which was one of the side effects I was hoping for. Taking the injections is easy for me. However, I really wish someone could assure me that if I continue taking this medication long-term, these unpleasant side effects will eventually go away. To alleviate the nausea, I have tried ginger hard sugar-free candies. I genuinely want this treatment to work for me, but three months of feeling unwell is taking its toll. If I had been losing weight, I would at least see some benefit. On a positive note, my A1c has decreased to 6.5. However, I hate feeling sick all the time."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Had to stop taking after 7 weeks of use. Total loss of appetite, very weak. When I try to eat, cannot do it due to gagging. The smell of foods upsets my stomach. Getting scary now, haven't used Mounjaro for 2 1/2 weeks and no improvement. No energy at all, hard to function."

For Type 2 Diabetes "2 weeks in and at 2.5 mg, WOW! My blood sugar is usually 150-200 even on several other meds. I stopped all meds other than Metformin/Glipizide combo, and once on Mounjaro, now it's pretty consistent 70-80 and only 150 after meals! Very little side effects. Once in a while, I feel a little upset stomach, but not bad at all. I'll take it!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Fatigue like I’ve never had before. My blood sugars are not too low, so that’s not causing it. I’ve been on for 5 weeks. Very, very loose stools and stomach cramping. I’m going to change medication in three weeks when I finish my supply. I’ve lost 10 lbs, but not worth all this fatigue. By 3:00 each day, I’m done."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Lost weight in the first few weeks. Some issues with belching and diarrhea for the first several weeks, which declined over time. But then, after approximately 6 weeks, no weight loss was noted. Still eating less, so hoping that the decreased intake of calories would reduce weight. Then had COVID, so had to miss a week, stayed on original dosage, no weight loss. Then, when dosage increased after the 3rd month, symptoms returned: upset stomach and diarrhea. During the same period, slightly elevated temperature, fatigue, headaches. Lost from 240 to 218 in 4 months, so cost was $100 per pound."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been taking Mounjaro since December 2022, beginning with the lowest dose of 2.5 mg, and increasing to 5 mg, briefly going to 7.5 mg, and currently back at 5 mg. Anyway, I had already made huge changes to my diet and reduced my insulin, but couldn’t quite get my glucose levels where I wanted them. For the most part, it’s been great. I’m now off all other diabetic medication, including insulin, and am able to keep my blood sugars within range. I have some issues with constipation and definitely need to use a little help to keep things moving. Occasionally, I have a headache for several hours after injecting. I have gotten a little bit of a sour stomach after some meals, but not bad. I have lost a little weight, not a lot, but I’m not in a hurry to lose. I think I’d probably lose more at a higher dose. My last HbA1c was 5.3, and I would like to get it lower. I had more stomach trouble at the higher dose. I'm glad that I’m on it. An injection once a week is better than daily."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am very happy with the weight loss (35 lbs). I generally tolerate it well. Upon each increase, side effects returned but were manageable. The benefits certainly outweighed the few side effects and brought my A1C down to 5.2. Side effects: rapid heartbeat, nausea, headache, acid reflux, belching, and stomach upset."

For Type 2 Diabetes "When I first took it in January 2025, I did have diarrhea and stomach issues. That has all abated and I have no more issues. It has really helped me with eating smaller portions than I was doing before. I've lost 22 lbs. since January. I had an A1C done recently at 5.5, which is outstanding. For me, this has been worth taking. Next week, I will be taking the 12.5 mg dose."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro on September 1, 2022. My starting weight was 192 lbs, I'm 38 years old and 5'3". By February 2023, I weighed in at 135 lbs. I experience severe nausea, sour stomach, sulfur burps, and constipation on every dose I was on. I was only able to go to 5 mg, as 7.5 mg about done me in. I went back to the 5 mg. I've always been active, worked out, etc., but after a few life events, I struggled to lose 10 lbs! This was a game changer for me. It quieted the food noise, the cravings, etc. I was able to eat just a few bites of whatever meal and then done. I didn't want to eat! My nighttime snacking is gone. I didn't even like the smell of McDonald's french fries. Now, my mom tried it also, but she never had any of the horrible symptoms, and the food noise quieted a little bit. She got up to 7.5 mg but couldn't get anything in stock for the 10 mg. She didn't lose the significant weight that I did and has now switched to Ozempic due to stock issues."
