For Type 2 Diabetes "I am 5'9", 64 years old, and female. I weighed in at a high normal body weight, but my A1C was nearly 13. My doctor tried Metformin with fast and long-acting insulin and also Januvia, and my blood sugars were horribly unstable, dropping to 45 in the middle of the night and waking up over six hundred. I also have fatty liver disease with stage four cirrhosis. I've been on Mounjaro for eight weeks and lost 24 pounds, which still leaves me at the higher end of normal body weight, but my A1C fell to 7 after a month. I am on the 5 mg but wish I had stayed at 2.5 for a while, as the side effects like bloating, indigestion, and diarrhea have started again, and I don't really need a lot of weight loss. The fact that it breaks down fat in the liver and controls my diabetes is the best thing. The worst thing is the waves of nausea, fatigue, and dizzy spells I get in the first few days after taking it, but it's still worth it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've only had 2 shots and 2 days until the next one. I find it very convenient to administer. However, I have had some nasty side effects! I've had diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fatigue. I will continue taking the medication hoping the side effects will 'calm down.'"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I had insulin resistance and was overweight. I started taking Mounjaro and have lost 34 lbs and am now within 8 lbs of my goal weight. I have not increased my physical activity. My A1C has gone from 7.0 to 5.4. I started taking it 7 months ago. I have been on the 10 mg dosage for the last 2 months. I find that it is very easy to use. The side effects at first were nausea and diarrhea. They were very severe at first, but have calmed down and now I might experience some slight nausea the day after my injection. I also find that I really do not have any interest in food and do not feel hungry. I need to eat small meals of mostly protein and get full on very little food. Another side effect that seems to have gotten worse in the last 2 or 3 months is extreme fatigue. I find that I have very little energy."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I began my journey on April 12th, 2024. I'm currently on my second dose of 7.5. A bit more stomach issues, diarrhea, and extreme fatigue. No desire to eat whatsoever. Since I've started, I have lost a total of 50 lbs. as of 9/2/24. Yes, I'm Type 2 diabetic, but I wanted to give this medication a try to see if it would be of any help for me to lose weight. It has far exceeded my expectations! It's been a bit rough, but I'm seeing great results. I'll continue on this journey with hopes of meeting my own personal weight loss goals."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I am nearing the end of my 3rd week with Mounjaro 2.5 mg. The side effects in the first week were awful: heartburn, sulfur burps, nausea, and slight headache. These side effects lessened by the 5th day. The second week was a little better. The side effects were somewhat better and only lasted for 4-5 days. Fatigue crept in the second week. Now I am on Day 5 of my third week. The main side effects now are acid reflux, slight nausea, and extreme weakness and tiredness. My appetite is really suppressed on Mounjaro. I don’t get hungry at all. So far I have lost 13 lbs in 19 days. The weight loss is great, but the fatigue and weakness are really bad. I am a 63 y/o male, type 2 diabetic for 25 years, currently 252 lbs. This medicine is not for everyone, and I don’t think I will be taking another Mounjaro injection."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Began in March 2023. I have very little appetite and eat but experience lots of shakiness. At first, it caused severe belching and indigestion, especially in my upper mid/right back, but it has gone away, shakiness has increased. I still feel fatigued, hoping that will go away!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro on July 19th, 2024. I started the medication because I was pre-diabetic, my A1C was high, and if I could lose a few pounds, it would be a plus. In my first week, I had the following side effects: nausea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, and some fatigue. I went to my doctor for a follow-up and had lost 5 pounds in my first two weeks. This was good, and I loved the weight loss. My A1C was 5.5, wonderful. Yet, I talked to my doctor about the fatigue. It had worsened to the point where my body didn't want to go up and down stairs. He suggested it was my sleep, however, my sleep habits hadn't changed. I'm planning to take Mounjaro 2.5 to see if the side effects lessen. Updates to come."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Lost weight in the first few weeks. Some issues with belching and diarrhea for the first several weeks, which declined over time. But then, after approximately 6 weeks, no weight loss was noted. Still eating less, so hoping that the decreased intake of calories would reduce weight. Then had COVID, so had to miss a week, stayed on original dosage, no weight loss. Then, when dosage increased after the 3rd month, symptoms returned: upset stomach and diarrhea. During the same period, slightly elevated temperature, fatigue, headaches. Lost from 240 to 218 in 4 months, so cost was $100 per pound."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro 9 weeks ago and lost 12 lbs in the first 5 days. Since then, I haven't had an insulin injection, and my blood sugar levels are good. I've been insulin-dependent for almost 20 years and overweight for just as long. I've now lost 33 lbs in 9 weeks, which is great. However, I've experienced some negative side effects, such as nausea, heartburn, dizziness, and fatigue. Despite eating what I should and drinking lots of water, I still feel nauseous and dizzy most days, which makes it difficult to exercise. I only get 2 good days out of the week where I feel like doing something besides sitting. I've only vomited once, but the feeling of needing to do so is always present on a daily basis. Since starting this medication, my weakness has increased instead of declined, which is frustrating because it limits my ability to exercise properly. Overall, while weight loss and improved blood sugar levels are positive outcomes, the negative side effects make it challenging to maintain a good quality of life."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "This medicine has made me so sick. I will never take it again. I have not eaten in over five days. I am so weak, I feel like my blood sugar is low. I am not a diabetic, I only wanted to lose a few pounds. I have been sick, nauseous, vomiting, fatigue, diarrhea. Until I got everything out of my belly, my belly felt full, even when I did not eat. Constant belching. My food does not taste good. I am miserable. I’m sure it has great benefits. My other family members took it, as for me, whom is diabetic, extremely curvy, but just wanted to lose excess belly fat. I probably should’ve just gone to the gym, exercised more, or even worn a waist trainer. To me, in my opinion, it’s not worth it."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve lost about a pound per week, starting with the smallest dose and leveling up every month. I started at 187 pounds and am down to 172. Side effects: constipation, belching, and fatigue (probably due to not eating enough). I like the pens and got over my fear of the needle. Sometimes it leaves a red welt in my tummy, but not usually. The worst part about it is the cost. My insurance doesn’t cover it, even though I was obese, had pre-diabetes, and sleep apnea (which I didn’t have when I was thinner). Imagine how many health issues could be solved if people could use this to lose weight."
