"My wife has been on Navane since 1994. It has worked great except for restless leg syndrome. She had to switch to Quetiapine when they stopped making Navane. She had an episode and landed in the hospital. As soon as they started making Navane again, we went back to it. No problems since."

"I have been on 5 mg of Navane - thiothixene - for 30 years. I have bipolar 1 with PTSD. The nurse practitioner wants me to go on a '2nd or 3rd' generation antipsychotic - Zyprexa. I have been on lithium and Depakote with the Navane. I stay on the Navane. It helps me think clearly. I stopped lithium because of thyroid and kidney disease. On Depakote, I gained 38 pounds. I am still fighting weight gain. I will refer my nurse practitioner to this website to validate my staying on Navane. I am 67 now and worry about the side effects on older adults, but I am not having signs of dementia yet, so I feel safe on the drug."

Thiothixene "My wife was on Navane for schizophrenia for over 20 years, and it worked great. She used such a small dosage (5 mg) that she never experienced side effects. However, Pfizer quit making it, and now she's on Seroquel, which is not very effective. She had 2 bad episodes since being on it. I hear another company is supposed to be making it again, and it will be available in late 2019."
