For Urinary Tract Stones "I also was prescribed Flomax, and had the same experience of passing out when I got up during the night after just one capsule. I had an anxiety attack and went to the hospital. My urine was already brown. The hospital told me that was toxicity, and also that I passed out because of an extreme blood pressure drop, caused by the medication. I will not be taking this medication again, and I am also female."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I get Kidney Stones on a near daily basis trying to pass. I've been in the hospital a total of 35 times in the last year. Each for Kidney Stone pain. After my third visit the doc gave me Flomax and it passed 5 stones all 3-5mm in size within 30 minutes of me taking it. Since then no other doctor would give it to me because 'I didn't need it'. Well, finally yesterday my doc agreed with me and wrote the prescription. I passed an 8mm stone 30 minutes after taking the Flomax. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who is suffering from a kidney stone. It reduces the pain and makes the passing a WHOLE lot easier."

For Urinary Tract Stones "The side effects that people are talking about, they think are from Flomax, they need to consider whether what they think are side effects from Flomax may have been from the kidney stone because severe pain can cause those symptoms. I’m on Flomax on a regular basis for bladder problems (Flomax is a common medication used in MS to help with bladder problems) and I have never had any side effects from it. When I had two kidney stones that were severely painful, it did not take me as long to pass them as it normally takes to pass a kidney stone, so please do not blame side effects on Flomax automatically. I am so thankful I was on that drug when I had the kidney stones. Because as painful as they were, I passed them quicker than I normally would. Like I said, I have never had any side effects from Flomax and have taken it every day for years."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Flomax improved my ability to pee, however, it also made me listless, and I experienced dizziness when changing positions suddenly. After a (1) month trial, I am giving it up. For me, the benefits are not worth the side effects."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Flomax (Tamsulosin hydrochloride) helped me to urinate normally. It did make me feel very tired and weak. I was taking one 0.4 mg a day. I started taking it with breakfast, but switched to taking it after dinner. That helped with most of the tiredness."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Started getting some relief within 24 hrs of starting, which is considerably faster than the doc said. Still some hesitancy, but flow much better. No side effects. Hard to complain. Just do it! I suffered too long, might have done some damage had I gone much longer."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 50, I began scratching my groin unconsciously. It was an itch I couldn't scratch. I was also dribbling urine a bit before I could make it to the restroom. My doctor prescribed a kidney/bladder ultrasound because I had high proteins in my urine. The ultrasound revealed a thickening of the bladder wall at the urethra. I was diagnosed with BPH, benign prostate hyperplasia. That sucker was huge. I was prescribed Flomax. From day one, it worked. Complete bladder emptying, no drips, and no more scratching. One major side effect: dry/retrograde ejaculation. When the wife and I get frisky, absolutely nothing comes out. It is backflowing into my bladder."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I am a 42-year-old woman. I was prescribed Flomax for kidney stones. I have been on this for almost 2 weeks, but I just can't take the side effects anymore. My head and neck hurt so bad, and it will not go away no matter what I do. I feel dizzy, weak, and very 'winded', it seems hard to catch my breath. I feel in a catch-22 because it helps the urine flow, but I just feel so awful otherwise... ???"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I was suffering for many weeks with pain, extreme urge to urinate, getting up 10-15 times a night. Urine volume was low, plus very weak stream. My doctor prescribed Flomax. Took the first one four hours before bedtime. Almost cried because all the symptoms disappeared. Finally a good night's sleep. Couldn't believe how fast it worked. After a couple of days, I was back to my normal self. Normal stream, no pain or urge to urinate. Thought it was a miracle drug. Then, after three days, the side effects started showing up. First a slightly sore back. Then overall general muscle weakness, dry ejaculation (reversed), soft erection, very weak orgasm at first, and finally no orgasm period. Stopped using this today. Day 5."

For Urinary Tract Stones "You all are going to think I'm crazy or a genius but either way I'm relieved. I've been in excruciating pain for months & my doctors were thinking it was from a herniated disc but my gut instinct told me it was something else. Although the disc is painful I know it's stones, I had all the symptoms. I don't have a mm or cm to share because they never sent me for CT. I was an in-home health aide and the patient I cared for passed away & he had Flomax, I had a feeling I would need them someday. I was at the doctor's office today in tears crying & honestly just couldn't bear it anymore. He handed me a tissue and gave me a referral to a pain management clinic. I did research on stones, took Flomax & in 2 hours passed it & no more pain. Praise God!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Only the brand Flomax works for me. After falling asleep on the seat a few times, I switched to Flomax brand and it made all the difference in the world. If I do wake up to pee, I pee. It's like having a 30-year-old prostate (not 65). But I can pee, whee!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "A miracle drug. Thanks. I didn't realize how much it had changed my lifestyle. I was always looking for a bathroom. My wife and I stopped taking long drives in the country for fear I would have to suddenly go, and worst of all, I stopped going to sporting events because I was afraid I wouldn't make it home in time. Lastly, I was getting up four or five times a night to go to the bathroom. That is all over now, and we are enjoying our lives again."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I tried to pass a 5.5-millimeter kidney stone for four days. Finally went for help. Two days of Flomax and the stone was out. I felt nothing except a brief slice at the urethra opening as it exited. I am a woman, so the Flomax is prescribed off-label. It did give me a bit of a headache, but nothing too bad. Not sure how that would have worked out with a longer run of Flomax. I’m very grateful my ER doctor prescribed it."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am currently almost 65 years of age. For several years, I suffered off and on with symptoms of BPH (frequent urination, difficulty urinating, weak stream, etc.) day and night. Sometimes, I would wake up 8-10 times a night for bathroom visits. Not being a person who goes to doctors regularly, I tried about every OTC and home remedy I could find. Two months ago, I finally visited a doctor and described my condition. He prescribed Flomax, and I started noticing improvement within a few weeks of taking it. After about five weeks, I was sleeping 6-7 hours between bathroom visits. I have noticed no side effects other than slight occasional headaches, which may or may not be related to the use of Flomax. Thank you, Flomax!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have mixed feelings about Flomax. The sexual side effects should by now be well known, and doctors and pharmacists should be discussing but sometimes fail to do so. Flomax is very seldom given to young men, commonly, it is given to those 50+. If you are sexually active, the side effects can be problematic. If you are not sexually active, the sexual side effects can be a good thing. I fall into the latter category, and a diminished libido, combined with a gentler ejaculation, is a good thing. But, after being on Flomax continually for about a week, the back and joint pain starts. Not good. The nasal congestion and headaches, also not good. I discussed with my doctor, she suggested that I try taking it every second day. So far, so good."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I went to emergency 7 days ago with kidney pain. I had a stone in both kidneys, 5mm to the right and 3mm to the left. Two doctors talked to me, one was experienced and the other was a fresh graduate. They told me I am going through surgery. I am self-employed. I had a bad experience with a fresh grad doctor 2 years ago. He operated on me for lithotripsy and put a stent in me. The stent was not placed properly and I know how I spent 2 weeks with the stent. Now, I refused to become their practice animal. They prescribed me Flomax 0.4mg for 7 days. I passed a small stone within 5 days, and the next two days I passed a second stone. The only discomfort was shortness of breath, a little bleeding from the nose, and frequent urge to pee. I continued my business during this duration. Thanks, Flomax."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Suffer from uric acid stones on an average of every 4-6 months. Was given a prescription for Flomax last ER visit; filled it to keep on hand. Two days ago had an attack and decided to try the Flomax. Amazingly, the stone passed in an hour and a half instead of the next day! This has never happened before and it really shortened the terrible pain, which usually lasts many hours. I will definitely try this next time I have an attack, which I KNOW will happen again."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I had a 4.8 mm stone that had been plaguing me for 3 weeks. I had been taking pain medicines off and on as needed and drinking plenty of water, but I could tell (plenty of experience) that the stone was hung up just before entering the bladder in the narrowest part of the ureter. I called the urologist to ask for a prescription for Flomax. They were hesitant - didn't think I could pass it. Long story short, they prescribed it, I took it, and the stone passed less than 24 hours later. Flomax, pain medicines, and plenty of water = passing kidney stone quickly and inexpensively."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "AVOID THIS DRUG! After taking only ONE pill, I was sick as a dog and felt like I had the flu! Almost 24 hours later, feeling better, but not 100% yet. I don't doubt the drug's effectiveness for BPH, however, as far as I'm concerned, the particularly nasty side effects simply aren't worth any of its so-called benefits. I will be seeking alternative, more natural treatments for my minor BPH case. NEVER AGAIN Flomax!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 62 years old and have been on the generic Flomax for about two years now. I have noticed a big improvement in my ability to urinate, and I no longer have problems starting a stream. Also, it no longer takes a long time to fully empty my bladder (no more starting and stopping several times). My only problem is the sexual side effect of no ejaculation when I have an orgasm. It bothers me that this is not normal!"

For Urinary Frequency "I am a woman taking Flomax for severe urinary retention. Flomax works wonderfully, although it did not start to work for me until I had taken it for about 3 weeks. Initially, there was some mild drowsiness and dizziness, which has mostly subsided. Make sure you talk to your doctor about getting on a bathroom schedule so you can eventually stop taking this. I was going 15 to 20 times a day and not able to empty below 200 ccs. This combination has gotten me down to going only 6 or 7 times a day and completely empty."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Flomax has improved my urinary flow and comfort and reduced significantly the number of distressing dribbles at the end of urination. Unfortunately, Flomax also quickly reduced my sexual ability too, with softer, less frequent, and shorter lasting erections, and sometimes appears to cause premature ejaculations that never occurred before. Taking zinc along with multivitamins appears to help. I'm still getting up at night to urinate, but at least the flow is good. My wife isn't thrilled about this, but I must be able to pee to live, and I can still live without much sex."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I will recommend Flomax to anyone with kidney stones. Mine was a sharp, intense pain on the left side of my back. I haven't had this kind of pain in my life. It's worse than child labor pain. Been battling with the pain until the urologist prescribed this medicine. In less than 2 weeks, I passed it out with no pain."
