For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "53-year-old male. Started on Flomax .4 dosage for two weeks for my BPH symptoms of urgency, weak stream, failure to fully empty bladder. Seemed to relieve those symptoms initially for a few days up to a week; tapered off the second week, however still improved initial symptoms by twenty-five percent. No noticeable side effects other than decreased ejaculation amounts and delayed ejaculation. Bumped dosage up to .8 after four weeks. Side effects now include minor lower back pain and minor sinus allergies. Seems to be working slightly better than .4; going to continue for another week or two. Was hoping for better results; maybe after more time on the medication?"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "While Flomax definitely helps with ease and volume of urination, the side effects are just too much. This is the second time I’ve tried it. The first time (about a year ago) I stopped for the horrible side effects and decided I would never take it again. This time I guess I forgot about those because I told my doctor I wanted to try it again. Within a day or two, I stopped getting up as much at night, I had a more powerful stream, and I didn’t feel the urgent sensation to pee as much. I also experience dizziness, nausea, headaches, toothaches, ejaculation problems, and for some reason, it makes me have a hard time breathing. I’m stopping it today for the second time. Hopefully, I’ll remember these side effects the next time I think I might want to take it."

For Urinary Tract Stones "This seems like a miracle for pain from kidney stones in the ureter. The first stone that I tried it on had given me several quite significant bouts of pain, and the 4-5 mm stone passed a couple of days after starting with no additional pain. I have since used it on two other stones that turned out to be about 3 or 3-4 mm and have passed them with essentially no pain after starting Flomax. So, that is 3 stones passed with essentially no pain after taking the Flomax and a total of 6 pills of Flomax used."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Been on Flomax for BPH for 2 years now. It's improved my urinary volume and flow rate tremendously. Most nights, don't even get up at all. Better now that I take it at 10 pm with a small snack. While it has also caused me to have dry ejaculations (my other half has not complained about this), I can maintain erection and have multiple ejaculations."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I had Flomax after I was diagnosed with a kidney stone of 6mm in my right kidney. After a couple of visits to doctors and the ER, my family physician prescribed Flomax. My stone passed out after 1 tablet. I would highly recommend anyone with a kidney stone. As I took just one and it worked, I didn’t experience any side effects."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been taking Flomax for a month for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. I had been getting up to urinate 2 or 3 times a night, suffering from severe pain during urination. Since starting Flomax, I have found myself dizzy if getting up quickly, blurred vision, decreased sex drive with abnormal ejaculate. I have lower back pain. I feel weaker and tired all the time. On the upside, I can go all night with no need to get up to urinate, and the pain while urinating is 50 percent less."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Has way too many side effects: dizziness, fatigue, myalgia, and it made me constipated. It really seems like our doctors don’t know anything. I’ve been using natural supplements and I actually have a quality of life that is bearable. Going to China to be cured. Alpha blockers are designed to make you stay on a life treatment with horrible symptoms. No thank you, I’ll stick with my own recipes that I came up with that help more than anything any doctor has given me. All the doctors think I’m crazy, but they’re just programmed that way and very textbook. Think outside the box, people, if your treatments don’t work, it is time to do more research."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been using Flomax (0.4 mg 1/day) for approximately 2 weeks, with a great improvement after the 2nd pill. My problem with urination wasn't too bad to begin with - slow start, weak stream, start/stop, up 2-3 times per night -- just inconvenient. I have experienced side effects with Flomax: get very dizzy when first standing up within 3-4 hours after taking the pill (feels like I'm going to pass out), so I take it at night; noticeable muscle weakness, but not severe. Also, sex is affected, weak orgasm. I tried Saw Palmetto (2,000 mg/day)--seemed to help some, but not very much."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I have frequent kidney stones and for a while was at a loss on how to deal with them. Eventually, after several horrible hospital trips, my primary doctor prescribed me Flomax and told me to take one a day during an attack. Flomax has been an absolute lifesaver for me. Within an hour, my pain subsides and I am normally able to pass the stone that same day. I carry Flomax with me everywhere now. It has helped reduce the anxiety I had about when my next kidney stone would occur because I know I have a pill that really works."

For Urinary Tract Stones "40-year-old female just passed a 6mm stone that caused 3 weeks of renal colic followed by 2 months of being stuck in my bladder. A CT scan showed it just outside my urethra. The urologist said surgery. I asked Google. This is where I came across information that indicated Flomax could help, though it is not FDA approved for use in women. I figured if the stone had already made it through the kidney and ureter to the bladder, it was certainly possible for it to travel just an inch further. So I asked the doctor if I could try Flomax before rushing into surgery, and she agreed it couldn't hurt. Well, it did hurt, but only briefly in comparison to the entire episode. Two pills (two nights) and my 6mm stone just kind of fell out. Long 3-month story short, I love Flomax!"

For Urinary Tract Stones "Prescribed Flomax for a possible kidney stone. Took around 6 pm. Didn't notice much, became a bit drowsy, pain seemed to be better but remained a bit. Around midnight, when trying to sleep, is when the terror started. Couldn't seem to sleep, but when I finally started to doze off, I suddenly awoke with a full-blown panic attack. Hard to breathe, racing heart, room spinning, going in and out of consciousness while on the phone with 911. EMS showed up and stuck around a while. I decided to stay home and try and sleep again. Again, the same thing happened. Right before falling asleep, panic attack again but this time less severe. By now, it's 5 am. I decided to try to sleep once more. If not, I was going to the ER. I somehow got about 2 hours of sleep and woke up with a massive headache. After taking some painkillers, I managed to doze off, and by noon, the nightmare was over. I do NOT recommend this medication!!!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This helped with urination flow but was bad on sex life. After being on it for a short time, only 4 days. It has caused trouble with very little painful semen release, and problems staying erect during that time. The side effects outweigh the benefits."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Went to ER with 5 mm kidney stone. Excruciating!! After 7 hours, I finally stopped vomiting, and then they were able to give me Flomax. I peed every 30 minutes like a river!!! 3 hours later, I felt something strange, and sure enough...the stone came out. This stuff works wonders!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been using Flomax for two years. It keeps me going but I still get up at least three times a night. Flow is not normal, light stream. My PSA is under 2.0 and always has been. I'm tired, sore, and not getting any better. I have not had sex for a long time. I'm going to try a new drug."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "My PSA went from 1.2 to 5.4, but after taking FLOMAX for over a month, my PSA is back down to 2.0. It definitely eased the difficulty in urination, and most nights, I don't have to get up. I have noticed my urine is very dark and strong-smelling first thing in the morning."

For Urinary Tract Stones "I get stones frequently, have had lithotripsy for two of them. Finally, I saw a new urologist and she gave me Flomax. I had zero side effects. It didn't make me pee more often, but when I did go, it was like a raging river and moved my stone right on out quickly. I will never have another stone without being prescribed Flomax, and I tell any of my friends who get stones to use it. Also, when I did pee, it completely emptied my bladder/kidneys and relieves so much pressure. Life saver for sure!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "For a while, I’ve had to get up to pee 3 or more times a night. Recently, I noticed my stream weakening and an urge to go when there’s very little urine. I tried Saw Palmetto and a multi-vitamin, but they had little effect. I’ve cut back on caffeine and limit fluids in the evening. None of this seemed to make any difference. I finally went to the urologist, and he started me on Flomax. The first night, I noticed an improvement in my stream, and the urge to go when there’s no need was gone. The first two nights, I only got up twice, however, the next two, I was back to 4 times. The fifth day, I woke up with diarrhea and had severe stomach cramps all day that finally went away in the evening. I did take the pill that night and woke up the next day with flu-like symptoms that worsened throughout the day. This may be an effective medication, but the side effects are not worth it for me. I’m on to searching for something else."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Just started taking Flomax (generic)... waiting to see what happens. On the web, most of the reviews are very negative and not encouraging. Why does this drug still get prescribed? With all of the negative reviews I have just read, it really amazes me this drug is used for BPH."

For Urinary Tract Stones "Was diagnosed with 5 kidney stones, 3 on one side and 2 on the other, in September of 2018. I had one blasted, and two were very small, and they passed quite quickly. The other two remaining were one in the left and one in the right. Doctor prescribed Flomax to help pass as they were large. One passed about 3 months after discovering it. It was approx 6mm in size. The other one went from my kidney to my bladder in October 2019. I passed that stone today (Feb 1, 2020), and it’s approx 10 mm. I’m lucky that passed, and Flomax I am sure helped to be able to pass a stone that size."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "This medication helped with the symptoms from an enlarged prostate. After several years, my doctor had to increase the dosage to 0.08 mg, which again relieved the problems. I’ve been on it for over 10 years with very little side effects. It was well worth the relief."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I used this for BPH. I took it for 9 months before quitting due to side effects. It helped some with getting up at night, but not worth it. My ejaculate almost disappeared before I realized it was happening. Also, my sexual desire decreased. Replaced Flomax with doxazosin, which was a little better, but not much. Stopped everything and had the Rezum procedure. Now I am back to normal. Meds with negative sexual side effects are not for me."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Upon starting on Flomax, urination flow was 100% improved. After 1 month, urine flow somewhat diminished but was still much better than without taking Flomax. I am trying to work through side effects, including a mild headache, lightheadedness, diminished libido/sexual desire, diminished volume in bowel movements, and gas. I am in my 3rd month of Flomax and am not sure the benefits will outweigh the many side effects I am experiencing."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I started taking tamsulosin in the middle of September 2019. After a few weeks, I started to develop a loss of appetite and debilitating weakness. I became nauseous and was unable to eat. This was not tiredness or drowsiness, but a profound weakness that prevented anything associated with normal activities. I stopped taking tamsulosin on Thursday, 10/10/19. I guess I will know better in a few days."
