Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have a prostate infection with an enlarged prostate and urinary issues. I was given Flomax (30 days) initially with antibiotics, but the Flomax made me dizzy and had a bad stuffed-up nose. I was then given Rapaflo to help treat the benign prostate hyperplasia and felt only a slight stuffy nose and, of course, the most common side effect, no ejaculation. These side effects are common. This medication is important in treating BPH and infections. I now have no discomfort and urinate freely. I still have two weeks to go. I won't stop taking it until the 30 days are up per doctor's orders. For those people who are worried about the no ejaculation side effect, I have to say stick through and win the war. It will come back. Skipping or less sex for a month is worth it to get back to normal."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "To make a long story short, Rapaflo worked, making it easier to urinate and cutting the frequency in half. However, if you still enjoy sex, well, there won't be any. You can forget having any meaningful ejaculation. After taking it for less than a week, there was absolutely no ejaculate. The frustration of trying to have sex is worse than the frequent urination to me. So if you're not interested in sex, it's a good drug and it works well, with little or no other side effects. I also tried Flomax and it's merely a little brother to Rapaflo, with pronounced dizziness and muscle fatigue. Neither is realistic for me. But give them a try, they may work better for you."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I've had increasingly annoying symptoms for years. In the past, I've tried other medications (Uroxitrol and FloMax) and had some improvement in voiding my bladder and a somewhat increased stream. However, the side effects were unpleasant. My blood pressure dropped severely, and standing up from a sitting position would cause extreme dizziness from hypotension. So, I stopped taking them, and the symptoms went away. Recently, my problems voiding became significant, so I went to see the urologist again. He prescribed Rapaflo. I had immediate relief. Within a couple of hours, I noticed a difference. It's been two weeks, and I'm noticing a bit of a decline in flow, so I'm going to ask if there is a slightly higher dose. No unpleasant side effects yet."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have a somewhat enlarged prostate and was diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago following an initial biopsy. Three successive biopsies over the years have not shown any cancer. However, my bladder has apparently not been voiding as it should, and after my last visit to my doctor, I was put on a 14-day trial of Rapaflo. It has been moderately successful, but not so overwhelming that I think I will stay on it. I have had some slight dizziness... as well as no ejaculate and a slight decline in orgasm sensation! Since I am still in my mid-50s, I would like to continue to have sexual relations that include ejaculations and a more intense orgasm. I am assuming those sensations are a result of the Rapaflo."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 66 and have been getting up 6-7 times a night to urinate. Previously, I tried Flomax, but this made me dizzy. My urologist suggested Rapaflo, which I have been taking for 5 days. I now go 3-4 times per night. No side effects, but I noticed I feel a bit lethargic and my nose is runny. I have been using only 4 mg size and may ask to try the 8 mg as I am a big guy (6'3", 205 lbs)."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "After many months, I lost my entire sex drive, had hair loss, very rapid heart beats, shortness of breath, all over muscle weakness, sick to my stomach, and rapid weight loss and loss of balance. I had to stop driving! I caution anyone about how the benefits outweigh the risks! I will never take this ever again!"

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Rapaflo for 2 weeks. Prior to taking Rapaflo, my urine stream was weak. It is now far stronger; I can pee twice as quickly on average. Very impressive. Flomax caused me to be dizzy; Rapaflo doesn't. Two side effects: 1) as many others have written, absolutely NO sperm during ejaculation (a really weird thing, and I am glad I read this forum; otherwise, I would have panicked). 2) Nosebleeds that last 5 minutes, probably due to the pill lowering blood pressure and/or thinning the blood."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Benign Prostate Hyperplasia for about 5 years. Flomax worked but horrible side effects (muscle aches, dizzy, stomach pain, dreams), so switched to Rapaflo about 8 months ago, works very well on a small tab of 4 mg, but some side effects: dry sex, lack of interest (which at 65 isn't that bad), so I quit medicine for 3 weeks, but my flow is so slow I developed an infection, so then I started again for a month or so, but this time I am developing heart pain and stomach churning, gas, etc. with it, so don't know what's next."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I am 35 years old and went for a cystoscopy a week ago. This was due to weak urination, urgency to go to the loo, and not completely emptying my bladder. This was for +/- 4 years. It was only until this year that it got worse... hard to pee. After two days in the hospital, I was prescribed silodosin. The first two nights it made me pee every hour. With hardly any sleep, I consulted the doctor, and he told me to change to taking it during the daytime. Then the side effects kicked in... I felt dizzy, pain in lower back, chest congestion, first constipation and later diarrhea. I know this may sound like way too much... however, I never had these issues before. It's making it really difficult to live a normal life. I just want to know if anyone else has similar issues?"

"To the point: my experience with silodosin is bad. My doctor prescribed it so my kidney can get rid of small kidney stones (1.0-1.5 mm), and he gave me the 8 mg dose. Well, I don't know yet if it helped me with the stones. Actually, I think it might since I felt some kind of discomfort similar to the one you feel when stones are traveling your ureter. However, I took the pills for 8 days (skipping one day once due to a conference), and the side effects were (and still are - I stopped taking the pills today) very bad: dizziness, photophobia, muscle pain - to the point I wasn't feeling safe driving my car or going to the supermarket. Of course, also no ejaculation - I wonder how reliable the stats/studies are since I believe that, in reality, almost everybody has no ejaculation while taking this drug. Maybe it helps in the case of BPH, but if you have really small stones like me (smaller than 2 mm), I suggest dropping this drug if you feel bad after taking it. It's not worth it."

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Within 10 minutes of taking 8 mg of silodosin, pelvic pain was gone. However, I did notice an immediate sense of relaxation. A little dizziness, but not too bad. I will take it for 1 month and see how my body reacts. 1 dose, 8 mg, before bed."

Silodosin for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Rapaflo works just as well as Flomax in terms of flow, and I don't get as dizzy or congested. It felt weird having no ejaculate, and my orgasm was not as intense as it was with Flomax."
