Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "I've had terrible motion sickness, and nothing has worked until I used this medication. It worked perfectly the first few times. I took it every time I traveled in a plane. However, I've noticed the more I use the patch, the worse the side effects have become. After using the patch, I now experience extremely dry throat, eyes, nose, blurred vision, and even nausea. Although it has successfully kept me from becoming sick while traveling up until this point, I'm not sure if this effect will always hold true."

For Motion Sickness "I used the patch for a four-day cruise. I put the first patch on Thursday, the day we left port, left it on for three days, then removed it on Sunday and put on a new patch. I took that patch off on Monday when we hit land. The scopolamine patch worked great while on the ship, I did not have any motion sickness. However, about 8 hours after removing the patch, I started having very blurry vision, followed by dizziness, nausea, palpitations, and fatigue. Requiring two days off work because I could not drive or read close print. After 2 days, symptoms resolved. I would use this patch again, but for a four-day cruise, I would leave on the first patch for one week and let the dose gradually decrease to avoid the scopolamine withdrawal symptoms I experienced, which were quite debilitating."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "Used the patch while on a trip overseas, where I would be on a boat and also being driven around. I get seasick and carsick. This worked well for the most part, but I had blurry vision and light sensitivity. I did have the patch fall off a few times while showering and replaced it right away. I used this for a 14-day trip. I stopped after the area became irritated on day 10, and the area is still slightly swollen."

For Nausea/Vomiting "This patch gave me very scary side effects like blurred vision, extreme dizziness, paranoia, and extreme numb tingling of my extremities. I wore it for less than 24 hours. Didn't even help with the post-op nausea."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was prescribed the scopolamine patch when I realized that Dramamine pills didn't work. The patch did work well, I felt minorly disoriented the first few hours of having it on, and on my flight, I still felt a little nauseous, but not nearly as bad as it usually is with Dramamine. I surprisingly did not vomit the entire 6 hours of flying I experienced. During the flight and after, my vision was blurred for a while, but I would rather have blurry vision than nausea from an airplane. I would definitely recommend this product to people who are sensitive to motion and get sick easily."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "Second time I have used, first was for a 3-day cruise this time for 5. I was OK while wearing it, but a few hours after I took it off, I got dizzy and very nauseated with blurred vision. Dramamine helped some. Next day I felt awful but ran a half marathon and ended up in urgent care because I was so nauseated after, and my arms were tingling. He gave me meclizine, which has helped some, but it's still going in 4 days later. Hoping it ends soon."

For Motion Sickness "Do not use this! Our whole party of 7 had an adverse reaction. Dilated pupils, blurry vision. All-around sick feeling. This is 4 days after we removed it. I took this med before without problems, this time was much different. Never again."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have a history of postoperative nausea, and right before having general anesthesia, the nurse put one of these patches behind my ear. She told me to leave it on for three days and that there are typically no side effects, just some slight dizziness. After surgery, I had no nausea. I removed the patch after the second day because I had read about possible withdrawal symptoms and didn't want to get them. Sure enough, after about 9 hours, I woke up in the middle of the night nauseous and dry heaving. Other side effects I had were extreme dry mouth, blurred vision, and hallucinations. Nausea lasted for several days, and I took Dramamine and Zofran to try and fight it. It wasn't worth the benefit, in my opinion."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have had the scopolamine patch a few times now, but I was given them to control the nausea/vomiting after surgery. The first time I had it was in January 2014 when I had surgery. I took off the patch 3 days later, and I ended up in the hospital for uncontrollable vomiting about 24 hours after the patch came off. However, neither me nor the doctors connected it to the patch. In November 2014, I had to have emergency surgery. I was given the patch again, 3 days later, I took off the patch. 48 hours later, I was in the ER and admitted that night for uncontrollable nausea/vomiting. Saturday night, they put the patch back on. I took the patch off Wednesday, now I'm waiting to see what happens. Noticeable side effects: dilated pupils and blurry vision. Huge problem for me."

For Motion Sickness "I was given this drug for abdominal surgery. As a patch. Within 6 hours, I couldn’t see texts on my phone. Took the patch off 24 hours ago and still can’t see close letters. The blurry vision is terrible. Avoid at all costs."

For Motion Sickness "As someone who gets sick looking at water and rides that go around and around, this patch was great for my first cruise. The boat swayed, and I felt nothing. Thirty-six hours after the patch was removed, after using it for eight days, switching out a new one after four days, I feel horrid. My nausea is constant, and I am on day three of the patch being removed. I am also suffering from severe exhaustion. I had blurred vision, but that was much better to deal with than motion sickness. Will I use it again? Not sure. I have not thrown up, and I don't have severe headaches, so maybe the end justifies the means."

For Motion Sickness "I used this for 9 days [3 patches] and won't use it again! It worked for seasickness, but I was getting very tired by the 6th day. I have been off it for 10 days and still not feeling right. Some of my side effects are extremely tired, confusion, blurred vision, weakness, and not being able to get back to doing what I did before! I have needed a vacation from my 'vacation'! No more cruise ships for me!"

For Motion Sickness "The patch is extremely effective for motion sickness. I am extremely sensitive to any kind of motion, but when using the patch properly, I felt no motion sickness whatsoever. I took several flights, trains, and bus rides without any motion sickness whatsoever. The side effects are downright scary, though. My doctor did not tell me all of the side effects or the severity of them. My side effects include extreme dry mouth (so much so that it made eating very difficult), drowsiness, and blurred vision. My vision was so bad I could not see anything up close. I took a trip alone to Italy, and when I arrived, I could not even read a map. I still felt the effects of the drug several days after removing the patch (I used it for 4 days). I also experienced a sensitivity to light due to dilated pupils. I still gave it 5/10 since it is extremely effective for motion sickness."

For Motion Sickness "While the patch made it possible for me to sail the Caribbean with no motion sickness (I wore it for 4 days), when I removed it, I experienced severe blurred vision, felt dizzy and nauseous, and weak and could hardly stand! This drug is poison."

For Nausea/Vomiting "So I got breast augmentation 2 days ago. And they gave me the patch before the surgery. I woke up and went home. I was a tad nauseous, but it wasn't bad. Didn't last long. But the first thing I noticed was cotton mouth. Then I started to experience farsightedness. I couldn't see close up. I found myself focusing like an old woman who holds her reading material way out in front of her. At first, I blamed it on my pain meds. But even when those would wear off, I still had blurred vision. I really hope this doesn't last long. Not worth it for me. Won't be taking again."

Scopolamine for Nausea/Vomiting "My doctor prescribed this Transderm patch prior to an outpatient procedure. I was very careful and followed the instructions, making sure to wash my hands before and after placing the patch behind my ear. Only to wake up 10 hours later feeling so dizzy and nauseous. Worst of all was my vision. When I arrived at the hospital, my vision was so blurry I couldn't even read the paperwork I was signing, couldn't see the time on my cell phone, or read any messages. My pupils were very dilated, this lasted for 2 days. I'm on day 3, and my vision is back to normal, but upon doing too much, I'm still dizzy and nauseous. I always read thoroughly before I take anything, so I know I did NOT get this in my eyes by not doing as directed. Scary stuff!!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "This patch worked great for nausea management after abdominal surgery. I remember after my first abdominal surgery I had really bad nausea, and this eliminated it this time around completely, despite having more extensive internal surgery. However, I did develop blurry vision and dilated pupils on the second day of wearing this. I was told this could happen if I touched the patch then touched my eyes, which I made sure not to do. I read that this was not normal if you had not touched your eyes, so I took it off immediately. After thoroughly cleaning my eyes just in case it had somehow come in contact and taking it off, my vision began to clear. It took maybe a full day until I could see clearly again, so be cautious of this when using this, and either contact your doctor or immediately take the patch off if you have these symptoms."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Please do your homework on this before using. This patch was placed behind my left ear prior to my procedure to help with post-op nausea. The only side effect I was warned of was dilated pupils and double vision. After my outpatient procedure, I had no nausea. The following day, I experienced extreme blurred vision and dry mouth. After 45 hours with the patch on, I removed it. That was 5 days ago. I am still nauseous and fighting vertigo and imbalance. The day after I removed this patch, I experienced what felt like a bad acid trip... I was also insanely sick, experienced vertigo (which I have never had in my life), and was unable to eat for days. My insides hurt as if I had a virus (like someone is twisting your intestines). Day 5 of removing the patch and day 7 post-op, I am still experiencing nausea with no signs of it letting up. I am wondering if maybe the dosage in the patch was just too much for me. So please do your homework before using. I would have rather dealt with the post-op nausea than this."

For Motion Sickness "I put the patch on the night before a planned mountain excursion. The morning I woke up, my vision was extremely blurry (couldn't read), I had severely compromised mobility (stumbling and tripping), decreased ability to comprehend what was being said to me, as well as a very dry mouth. I also began hallucinating, so I took the patch off. Within 1 hour, I started to feel a little more in control, and after 10 hours, the side effects seemed to be gone. I had the patch on for a total of 8 hours, and felt like the patch was WAY too strong - to the point of overdose. I made sure to wash my hands after putting on the patch. I also take Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, propranolol 60 mg for migraines, and Zyrtec."

Scopolamine for Motion Sickness "I used the patch for 5 days before taking it off because it didn’t help nausea, and I was starting to get blurry vision. 2 days later, I was dealing with significantly worse nausea than I had when I was prescribed the drug, my vision was blurrier, I had a strong, painful sensitivity to light, and it felt like my eyes were burning. My doctor failed to disclose withdrawal and adverse side effects of the medication. I feared I was going blind, and I began forgetting things, feeling disoriented, and dizzy. Now it’s been a week since I stopped, and I haven’t been able to keep food down in 6 days. This may be a safe drug for most people—my reaction to this medication isn't common, but it’s an intense drug and can cause debilitating symptoms for weeks after using the patch for only days. Be sure you trust your prescribing doctor and that he or she discloses possible side effects and risk factors, because I assure you that you will prefer motion sickness over the withdrawal symptoms of this medication."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I put this patch on before I went to bed last night. What a mistake! I woke up and felt drunk. I have blurry vision, nausea, dizziness, and dilated pupils. I wore it less than 8 hours. I am on vacation and was supposed to go snorkeling, but I am not sure I am going to be able to go. I wish I had put it on during the day so I would have known this was occurring without wearing it so long. I strongly believe this drug should never be used. Awful."

Scopolamine for Nausea/Vomiting "Never take this drug! I was on a 7-day cruise and took the ear patch. At first, I had blurred vision, and after removing the patch off when the cruise was done, things went horrible. I had nausea, dizziness. Went to the doctor and was told I had vertigo and couldn't get back to work. I had to suffer because of the side effects of this patch. Not sure how the FDA approved this, this is a dangerous drug and should NEVER be prescribed."

Scopolamine for Nausea/Vomiting "Long history of post-op nausea (PONV) here. Excellent care team applied the patch about an hour before surgery (along with IV Zofran) to stop the nausea. Really hoped it would help. The dizziness, blurred vision, and very dry mouth made me feel worse-dying of thirst. Drank too fast post-op and had some of the worst PONV ever. CRNA said to wear it for 3 days; I took it off after about 36 hours; my doctor switched me from oral promethazine (did not stay down) to meltable Zofran, which was much better. Hope it works better for others."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I've been taking it for about 6 months straight due to nausea on TPN. It really is just a motion sickness med to me though. It doesn't help me much with the TPN nausea, but it does help with being car sick. When I first started it, my symptoms were pretty extreme that I called my doctor and told him I'm not taking that again. (But after trying multiple different nausea meds, I landed back on scopolamine). I got extreme dry mouth and throat, lost my voice, could only drink liquids, and anything solid I would choke on due to dry mouth. What I assume was my lymph nodes swelled in my throat to the point you could see red dilated blood vessels under my chin, my balance was off, and I couldn't see anything within a 2-foot radius. But I kept replacing it every 3 days out of desperation to stop throwing up. Now I only get a dry mouth which varies in severity, and I can't see my phone for the first day, but by day 2 the symptoms tend to dissipate. (They might have adjusted my dosage a little, but I'm not sure)."

For Motion Sickness "Went on a cruise years ago, very calm seas, got extreme motion sickness for two days until someone gave me a patch. Got total relief within one hour! Have been on numerous cruises since, including one that was in violent seas and never got sick while wearing the patch. Causes a little dry mouth and slight blurred vision. Recently, the patch has been causing the skin under it to become extremely itchy and burny feeling, and it gets raised. I will try cortisone cream on it. Not sure if I get an after effect when removing it or I just have jet lag! It has saved me from sleeping through my cruises due to the vertigo feeling I get without the patch! Hoping I can get the itching under control!"
