Crestor (rosuvastatin) "I was prescribed Crestor after a triple bypass. 40mg daily and I finally weaned myself off of this drug after 7 1/2 months due to side effects. I was to the point where I could barely walk, my knees and feet were extremely painful. My shoulder joints had me in rehab therapy also. No energy, weight gain, and a thumb that now locks in place which is anything but pleasant. All these symptoms have significantly eased up and hoping to get back to 95% of my old self!"

Crestor (rosuvastatin) "Took Crestor for four months and it lowered my cholesterol. Took it until my feet, shins, and calves went into cramps. Couldn't sleep, and could hardly walk. Cramps ended two days after quitting. Cardiologist put me on it and my family doc took me off it and told me never to take it again."

"Rosuvastatin 5 mg 10 months ago. Stent in heart January 2018. Cholesterol down from 6 to 3.2 within 2 months - GREAT. 4 months progressively worse 10th month - weak + aching muscles like I've walked 20 km a day + 5 kg weights on each leg, last 2 months cramping in pool, feet + calves. Urinating 8-10 times a night. Weight gain + not budging. Piercing pain in left-hand side of the brain. Memory loss. Rash on forearms. Breathlessness. The worst depression, REALLY down. One morning, shuffling to the bathroom, hips, legs, back so painful, I read about the rosuvastatin side effects and decided to stop taking them. Within 3 DAYS my muscles feeling BETTER. NOW - 2 weeks - walking 6 km, running on a mini-tramp 40 minutes, swimming 90 laps of a pool - 25 strokes across - I'm effortlessly gliding, no cramps, enjoying experience. No memory fog, sharp twangs in the head, gone little more each day. I KNOW I HAVE to be strict re: diet, but after having bad side effects I just want to stay off things."

"It's so good to know that other people are having these terrible side effects from rosuvastatin and it's not just my imagination. It is very scary stopping taking it post-heart attack, but the muscle pain and weakness, plus the bloatedness, especially in the stomach, etc. made me feel like I was being given a disease by this drug. I will take my chances and monitor with my GP, my cardio consultant won't like it, but this is the second one I've tried, and the side effects were the same but much worse."

"I took one rosuvastatin pill, a few hours later, dizzy, one leg swelled a lot, very dry mouth, very bad headache. It took 24 hours to ease, and I never get headaches. Never will I ever take even one more of these. The drug store refuses to give any kind of refund."

"I am 47 years old and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which caused my LDL (bad) cholesterol level to increase to 144. Prior to this, I had no history of cholesterol problems. My doctor prescribed me Lipitor, but after a couple of weeks of taking it, I started experiencing jaw pain, as well as upper back and shoulder pain on my left side. This was concerning, so I brought it to my doctor's attention. They switched me to Crestor, but the back and shoulder pain has persisted. Although I exercise 3-4 times a week, the muscle soreness caused by these medications is different from the soreness I normally experience after workouts. I also sometimes experience brain fog and wake up feeling unwell due to muscle pain. I plan to talk to my doctor about alternative options."

"I was on another statin for a couple of years. I started to have side effects: leg pain and weakness. Couldn't lift my grandson, he was 9 months old. I stopped the meds and got better within 2 weeks. The doctor started me on Crestor 5 mg every other day at bedtime. I have been waking up with headaches (something I don't suffer with) and deep muscle pain in my arm. I'm done. I refuse to take a statin ever again."

"I have Type-2 diabetes and my cholesterol has always been normal to the high end of normal and GP wanted me on a statin. I was on rosuvastatin for quite a while and then began having severe leg cramps at night. I had to quit this med."

"My doctor prescribed rosuvastatin, which I took for a year and a half. As a result, I suffered from low energy, memory loss, stiffness, and worst of all, severe muscle pain in both shoulders. I could not raise my arms without intense pain. The pain would flare up at night. I did not have a full night's sleep for 6 months. Pain medication did not work. It has been 1 year since I've stopped taking the statin medication. Most of the pain is gone, and my energy is back. It was a long, painful year that I will not repeat. I quit taking statins and quit seeing the doctor that prescribed them."

"Started with a low dose of generic rosuvastatin 5mg per day due to various heart disease risk factors. LDL-C fell from 135 to 70. ApoB fell from 125 to 82. So, the lowest dose did the job exactly as advertised. I have no side effects, except possibly occasional constipation, but I'm not sure whether it's related or not. My father has been on 10mg of rosuvastatin for decades without many side effects."
