For High Cholesterol "Oh my goodness! I have gone from being a very active 59-year-old to an almost crippled 90-year-old. Within days of taking this medication, I could hardly walk. That’s no exaggeration. My knees were completely broken. I hobbled. The doctor fobbed me off and said it’s osteoarthritis. I got knee braces to help, but it just got worse. My quality of life shattered. My darling sister asked me if I had changed medication, and I said yes, just 10 mg of rosuvastatin. So she read the reviews on here and oh my goodness! I stopped taking them just 3 days ago, and already I can walk! The muscles in my legs are still weak, but 1000 times better... Please, if you are having these side effects, don’t take it."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Crestor lowered my cholesterol, but the muscle pain in my back was intolerable. So I finally started taking CoQ10, and the back pain went away. But for the following two years, I thought I had shin splints. It was the Crestor."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "5 mg Crestor for about 3 weeks after becoming menopausal and having cholesterol spike even higher (family genetic condition) - no side effects at first and numbers started to improve. THEN - everything went haywire - rapid weight gain & all symptoms of pre-menopause have come back. Now having severe joint pain so have stopped taking it completely."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "I am 52 and have been taking statins for 25 years. From Mevacor, Zocor, to Lipitor, Zetia, and now Crestor. I am lucky to have had no side effects, but will say Crestor has worked best at 40 mg daily, it helps keep it down around 230. Had a 95% blockage at age 28 and 1 stent last year. I believe statins have protected my heart over the years! My brother cannot take them and had a quadruple bypass at 49. Also, everyone should have a calcium scan, simple and life-saving."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "I’ve been taking generic Crestor for about a year. It’s the first time I’ve lasted that long on any statin. I have familial high cholesterol. In the last couple of weeks, I’ve started having extreme fatigue, dizziness, and depression/confused brain. Don’t really know how to describe it. I’m due for blood tests this week but don’t know if I can take even one more dose. Will call the doctor tomorrow and see if I can come then for blood tests. I take 5mg every other day."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Experienced just about every side effect. Early on got rash and discomfort, physician waited to discontinue use. Progressively worsened; not being able to move. Physician then recommended to stop medicine. Several days later, most side effects gone. Alive again."

For High Cholesterol "Been taking 20 mg each night since Nov., and besides mild joint pain upon awakening during the first month (pain has since disappeared), I’ve had no other complications. I was prescribed these over a year ago for high cholesterol (265), but would not take them because I read so many bad reviews. I tried very hard for almost a year to lower my cholesterol with strict diet and exercise but could only lower it to 250. Then in Nov., I experienced pain in my chest and upper arms so bad, it forced me to go to the ER where I was found to have blockages to my heart. I needed 2 stents inserted and was put on this statin while in the hospital. I am writing this review mainly to let people know that not everyone has severe side effects. If not for being scared off by bad reviews, I would have definitely taken this med when first prescribed and maybe not have needed stents. This med worked great to lower my cholesterol down to 142 within weeks, and I am pretty much eating whatever I want."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Crestor was the worst medication for me. I developed hip pain, leg pain, knee pain, trouble moving around, tired, not sleeping, can't lay flat, and to top it off, it landed me in the ER with a swollen throat, trouble breathing, and a swollen neck. Let me not forget eye twitch. Such major bad reactions. Been off of it one day after being treated with IV and oral steroids. 85% better after one day. Looking forward to tomorrow."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "I was on Crestor for several years. I was also on Wellbutrin for depression, Trazodone for insomnia, and Topamax for headaches. In 2020, my headaches got steadily worse. By the beginning of 2021, I was on 4 migraine meds and nothing was helping. Then my doctor took me off Crestor and started me on Zetia instead. Within a few weeks, I started falling asleep in the evenings without Trazodone. Then I noticed my headaches were less frequent and I was in a better mood throughout the day. I was able to stop taking 6 meds — my antidepressant, my sleeping med, and 4 migraine meds — because almost everything I was being treated for was a side-effect of Crestor. I had been on so many meds, and I still felt awful all the time because of Crestor. I spent thousands of dollars in therapy trying to figure out why I was so depressed. My relationship with my husband was stressful, because I had absolutely no sex drive. Crestor cost me dearly for the past decade. I would never recommend this drug."

For High Cholesterol "I began taking rosuvastatin in conjunction with valsartan (about two weeks apart), and I was horrified at the reviews, but after being on it for almost a week, I'm impressed. The first few days on this are not that pleasant, but they are bearable. After the initial side effects wore off, I feel better than I have in so long. My only complaint is nausea (but again, it is bearable), and if you eat anything with a high-fat content, you will have diarrhea. I am 42, female, and am being treated for high blood pressure and high cholesterol."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Currently on Crestor 20 mg, but I cut it in half and only take maybe twice a week, and I'm experiencing mild joint aches, upset stomach in the AM hours after taking before bedtime the night before. I also tend to forget minor things, such as keys in the truck, lunch in the fridge for work, but not too often. I am 44 years old and have been on the med for about 3 years now. I believe I will ask the doctor to prescribe a milder med, if possible, on my next appointment."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Upon stopping Lipitor for elevated liver enzymes after multiple years of use, I was started on Crestor at 2.5 mg daily. Lipids were still high after 6 weeks, so dosage was increased to 5 mg daily. After 10 days I was seen in the ED for vertigo; CT and labs all OK; started on prn Meclizine and Zofran and Medrol pack. Dizziness and horrific nystagmus continued. After discussing with pharmacist, I learned 4% of Crestor users had to discontinue due to vertigo! I informed my PCP and also the ED docs."

For High Cholesterol "I was prescribed Rosuvastatin/Crestor for high cholesterol (total 210 - 230). Started with 5 mg one month, then 10, 20, and finally 40 mg daily. Had regular lower extremity painful muscle spasms all during this time but assumed I had pulled something during a workout. I had monthly blood tests and my CK reached dangerously high levels (990's) and I had a distal bicep tendon rupture requiring surgery. My doc had me stop and refuses to attempt any more statin use due to my dangerous intolerance. My CK appears permanently elevated (700 - 800), I have permanent muscle damage to hips and thighs, but at least the muscle spasms are less frequent. This medication had very negative and permanent side effects for me. Glad it works for others."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) "I experienced muscle pain in my legs and arms while taking previous statins. I found out that if a CoQ10 supplement is taken every day along with the statin, the pain goes away. I tried that and it works! I now take Crestor along with the CoQ10 supplement and have no problems. Just so you know, doctors will not talk to you about supplements. At least mine never did!"

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I went from Zocor, which I had been taking for 10 years. When I started taking Crestor, my cholesterol went from 240 to 147 in 3 weeks and has stayed there. My triglycerides went from 340 to 135. I take 10 milligrams a day."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "After having unwanted side effects with two other statins, my PCP suggested trying Crestor. This was about 6 years ago. Since then, as he states it, I could be the poster boy for Crestor. At only a 5 mg/day dosage, my cholesterol level has dropped from ~290 to consistently below 200 with no side effects. My only concern is there is no generic alternative, and it is VERY expensive when the insurance companies declare that it's not in their formulary of preventive medications. I've been lucky that my PCP has been able to convince the ins co that I can't tolerate an alternative, so have not had to pay for the medication for the past several years (treated as preventative). That's changing now that I'm retired and have to go to new insurance."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Gained 8 pounds in two months, wearing a splint for my left wrist due to extreme tendon/muscle pain, can't lift anything. Also noticed that I can't lift any of the weights that I used to be able to at the gym as my upper body isn't as strong as it used to be. Had blood work yesterday, so I don't know if it lowered my cholesterol (300 range), but Dr. is taking me off (5mg) it for a month."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for Hyperlipoproteinemia Type IIa, Elevated LDL "I take 10mg Crestor EOD (Every Other Day). My cholesterol is 221, with HDL & Triglycerides normal, but an LDL of 169. 42 year old male, moderately active. The first 3 weeks were the worst, even taking every other day, with the brain fog and joint/muscle pain. But going on 2 months now, it has mostly resolved. I actually FEEL better after 2 months, I am not sure if high cholesterol can make you feel lousy, but I'm just stating I feel different in a good way. Side note: Crestor is supposed to lower your blood pressure a little too. Anyways, if this medicine bugs you, take it Every Other Day, or Every 2 days. It will still work good. It is a very strong statin. Best part, my insurance pays for it all! Cost me $0.00. If you want the benefits of statins, you have to take the bad with the good. The side effects will resolve, and aren't that bad. Stick with it!"

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Jonboy, in response to your concern over the cost of Crestor, I have been paying $50 for a 3-month supply of this medication, with my health insurance. However, the last time that I was at the pharmacy, a man online informed me that his wife pays $3 for the 3-month supply. And, no, I'm not kidding. I actually looked up the website on my phone (with a little help from the clerk). Please look at all the Crestor websites and research the coupon. Since the coupon is in the computer, I'm told I will be paying this amount for the next year. Good luck."

For High Cholesterol "Had 60% blockage of carotid artery 3 yrs ago. Dr. put me on 10 mg Crestor. I looked up side effects and didn't like them, so I suggested we start at 5 mg. Dr. said OK. 5 mg worked extremely well. I reacted to Crestor better than most. The latest ultrasound showed carotid as 'clear.' Bottom line is that I'm reading reviews where Dr. started out with the 40 mg and people experienced side effects. Wow. Not sure why you would start out with the highest dosage. Remember, the best dosage is the smallest dosage that works for you. Discuss with your Dr. Start low, as you can always increase the dosage."

For High Cholesterol "I am a healthy man, 67 years old, in good shape, had a stroke with no side effects. Was told to take the rosuvastatin 5 mg. My cholesterol was borderline, and I needed better HDLs. I have better energy except when awakening, I feel stiff. But it goes away after stretching. Been on it for 4 months. Had no negative side effects except it made my tinnitus a little louder. I put on a fan or air conditioner at night and can’t hear it then. I feel okay with it so far, and I am extremely drug sensitive."

For Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease "It's so good to know that other people are having these terrible side effects from rosuvastatin and it's not just my imagination. It is very scary stopping taking it post-heart attack, but the muscle pain and weakness, plus the bloatedness, especially in the stomach, etc. made me feel like I was being given a disease by this drug. I will take my chances and monitor with my GP, my cardio consultant won't like it, but this is the second one I've tried, and the side effects were the same but much worse."

Crestor (rosuvastatin) for High Cholesterol "Crestor was doing a very good job of bringing my total cholesterol from 247 to 171. However, after a year and a half, I could not stretch without pulling a muscle. I am 104 lbs, so the dosage was reduced to half of a 5 mg tablet, which did not work, my number came up to 219. I also have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Recently, I got a bad GERD pain in my chest, and I had to take an antacid before, during, and after I ate. When I quit Crestor, the pain and the head confusion went away. I felt great. Now my numbers from exercise and eating the right foods that help lower LDLs and raise HDLs have got my total to 236, with all LDLs in the normal range and my HDLs high. My doctor is now trying me on fibrates."
