"7 months of arm and leg cramps. I asked about blood clots. The doctor was certain I didn’t have a clot. Trip to urgent care. The doctor laughed when I asked about blood clots. On discharge: “You DO NOT HAVE A BLOOD CLOT.” I’m 50, healthy. I run a lot, averaging 12,000 steps per day. Resting heart rate is 56. She says it’s an overuse injury. The PCP agreed to an ultrasound and found a clot, not DVT, “superficial” in the thigh, 3 cm from the femoral junction. Hematology says 30 days of Xarelto. Took it at 8 pm for the first 2 nights. Pains and worse cramping than original. The next 3 nights were all Xarelto horror stories. Muscle pain, cramps, feeling like peeling muscles from thighs and calves like picking at fried chicken. I found this forum on the 6th night. Saw comments about taking Xarelto with dinner, not after. 10 days ago, I started taking the medication as I ate dinner. Holy smokes! 90% of the pains are gone. I do feel nauseous within 90 minutes after breakfast and/or lunch, which I chalk up as another side effect and it does go away as soon as I eat something small like nuts. Only 10 more days!"
