Rivaroxaban "3 1/2 years ago, I had a pacemaker installed due to LBBB (Lyme disease). After about a year, it reported AFIB. I was put on Xarelto as a precaution. Since then, my arthritis has gotten worse. I attributed this to growing old. I had a total right knee replacement a year ago for pain. Since the TKR, I have been having trouble with edema in my right leg, with chronic sores appearing. They would start as black splotches under the skin, then dry spots that, when scratched, would result in open sores. I stopped Xarelto for a week, and the sores began to heal. During this time, I had an appointment with a cardiologist who said to get back on Xarelto as soon as they healed. I had asked him for another Rx, but he refused, saying Xarelto was best (at $500+ per month). It's been another week off, and now my arthritis has also abated. My outlook is much better; I can walk without a cane. I am back to doing the physical activities I did before the pacemaker. The pacemaker did help."

Rivaroxaban "I have been taking Xarelto for about a year and has landed me in emergency twice. The first time I had heavy bleeding in my stool, urine, and mouth. This past Monday, I had an ambulance pick me up after having a really strange dizzy spell with numbness in my head and immediate heavy bleeding from the mouth. I will not take this medication anymore, I'm sure it will kill me if I continue taking it."

"Prescribed rivaroxaban in Jan, 18. This drug really needs looking into more. Headaches so bad never known anything like it. Also faintness, blurred vision, unable to walk straight. I've asked my GP to take me off of them, and she refused. Now I have to see a neurologist. I'm worried it may be too late. I'm terrified!"

Rivaroxaban "50-year-old female. Original symptoms: heart rate goes up to 200 (and sometimes higher) with exercise, shortness of breath, occasional feeling of my heart 'vibrating.' Stress test, EKG, etc., all came back normal. It was the Holter monitor that detected paroxysmal a-fib. Put on Xarelto. I've been on Xarelto for over a year. No side effects at all."

Rivaroxaban "I have been on Xarelto 20 mg for the last 2 years. I have AFib, and I had DVT in my legs. On my one-year anniversary, Xarelto eliminated my DVT in both legs, they were so painful, especially behind my knees. Xarelto eliminated that crisis. I've continued the Xarelto for my AFib along with metoprolol 25 mg, 2X a day. I have not had an AFib crisis since. I was in the hospital for my AFib. I'm shocked at these people who blame Xarelto for their problems. It can be many other things, like multiple drug interactions or other health issues. Xarelto saved my life. I buy my medicine out of UAE, $135.00 for 3 months' worth."

"I am 71 years old now, and I have had an irregular heartbeat for about 20 years. In that time, the doctor advised me to take 80 mg of aspirin every day, making my blood thinner. Years later, Xarelto 20 mg was advised. I can't tell if it works well because I have had no stroke, etc. I also have no side effects, like bleeding, etc. I live in Asia and pay 62 euros for 28 tablets of 20 mg. I see online how in a lot of countries, people pay a lot more-paying 3-4 times as much."

"In summer 2018, I had sudden and severe atrial fibrillation: heart pounding at 150, exhaustion. I was hospitalised immediately, and digitalis extract had no effect. Cardioversion was very effective, and rivaroxaban (20 mg daily) was prescribed with a beta-blocker (bisoprolol 5 mg). I had initial after-effects (a nosebleed requiring a plug with silver nitrate), but not much since: I wear gloves in the garden to stop small scratches bleeding. Now 82, I do tire more quickly, but can't blame the rivaroxaban. Over 6 years, it has caused no trouble, and certainly no fibrillation has occurred. I am wary of all lifelong medication, especially one you dare not stop taking, but on the whole feel positive."

Rivaroxaban "I’m on Xarelto too and have been for three and a half months. I was told that it thins the blood to prevent a stroke. (This is the main problem with AF.) Since starting it, I have loose bowel movements and ache terribly, especially at night. I’ve lost weight and AF has lessened. I really don’t know the answer. I know I’d rather not be on blood thinners. At all. I’m 65, other than this, I’m quite healthy."

"3 or 4 years of use, and nothing but a few small changes: spots on the skin of my legs/...that's about it. No problems with wounds - I am a craft person, having been a carpenter, and cuts and punctures are par for the course. Bleeding seems as usual as it was pre-Xarelto. The reason for my review is that I have been taking a generic 'ARX-Rivaroxaban 20 mg' for about 40 days and am having blood pressure issues - haven't yet discussed this with the pharmacist or doctor (GP), but will. Just wondering - as nothing else has changed as far as I can think. My stepbro is a GP and hates the Xarelto, but I find it quite a non-issue at 70 years old. Any comments would be welcome on the generic issue."

Rivaroxaban "I missed two doses of Xarelto and had a mini stroke, which doctors say came as a result of the missed doses. You must take this medicine every day. It does not build up in your system over time."

Rivaroxaban "Xarelto probably saved my life from a stroke with a fib. I feel great on a high dose. I adjusted well and feel better than before I started it. I don't fear a stroke anymore with Xarelto."

Rivaroxaban "I was diagnosed with AFIB about 2 1/2 years ago and immediately put on Xarelto. At first, it has few side effects other than bruising and bleeding of the extremities. After knee surgery one year ago, I began to get sores on the leg of the knee replacement. These would not heal. They got gradually larger and more numerous until I started reducing the Xarelto. I was on 20 mg and reduced to 15 mg, then down to 20 mg every other day. The sores slowly shrank. I finally quit because I wanted to heal my leg. After a couple of weeks off the drug, they are almost gone. Leg edema was moderate, but it has gone away. I have asked the cardiologist to try some other Rx, but they are adamant that Xarelto is the best. I am now going to insist on another Rx as, for the price, I am sure there are alternatives that will work as well. I will put up with the inconvenience of monthly testing."
