"At 54 years old, I was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia, then had a catheter electrophysiology study done, which resulted in a specific diagnosis of multifocal atrial tachycardia. An ablation procedure followed about the same time after the study. Several irregular rhythms were knocked out, leaving a few others untreated due to their location inside the heart. I was prescribed propafenone 150 mg three times daily and atenolol. A pacemaker was implanted to control my bradycardia, which then made it possible for me to take propafenone. One cannot take propafenone if they have bradycardia unless they have a pacemaker implanted. I am relieved and very satisfied with the outcome of the procedures and the effectiveness of propafenone."

"19 years old now. Since I was 14, I have had PSVT beats up to 250/min. Maneuvers not working! Used almost every beta-blocker agent. Since I was 16, I started propafenone, low dose 150 mg 3x1/2 in combination with metoprolol 50 mg 2x1. NO SINGLE EPISODE of PSVT for about one year. After that, I was switched from propafenone to Verapamil 80 mg 3x1. My heart didn't respond to Verapamil like to propafenone. Started back on propafenone, a 150 mg 3x1, 1 more (if needed). Planned ablation. I have to say that I DON'T HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF PROPAFENONE."

Propafenone "I take 150 mg propafenone twice daily for prolonged VT. My heart has been steady for five months. But I now see that this drug should not be used if there is a heart conduction problem. I have both LBBB and RBBB. I can find no guidance on whether to keep on or stop it."

"I take so many meds - Rhythmol, Coreg, levothyroxine, aspirin, statins - all of which have some of the listed propafenone side effects that I simply cannot know which is causing the effects or whether I have some other problems not shown in tests. I have paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia, CAD, one stent placed May 2010 RCA, hypothyroid, and God knows what else. I'm 85 and can still do 30 mins of aerobics daily and the same day feel sick as a dog. There must be thousands who cannot pinpoint their side effects. Come forward and comment please."

Propafenone "This medication has allowed me to avoid the ER/hospitalization for several years. Prior to taking it, I was in the ER 2 to 3 times a year for uncontrolled tachycardia episodes."

"Propafenone has been very effective in reducing incidents of tachycardia, though of late, I've had an increasing number of breakthrough events (perhaps once a week), especially after going to bed. My heart rate reaches 120-130 bpm. I usually return to sinus rhythm following carotid massage. If necessary, I take a small dose of metoprolol, which works within 15 minutes. I find it necessary to drink alcohol, coffee, and chocolate in moderation. Before an ablation procedure, my main problem was periodic atrial fib."
