For Sinusitis "I was prescribed prednisone for sinus infection and ear blockage. My wife told me I didn't need a steroid. I was prescribed this by an urgent care 'doctor.' I was given a 14-day antibiotic and the steroid. While taking the steroid for 12 days, I gained 6 lbs, had severe insomnia every night, diarrhea 2 or 3 times a day, no energy at all. I was extremely irritable and very difficult to be around. I should've listened to my wife and requested what works for me, Z-Pak, and went on my way. No more doc in a box for me and no more prednisone."

"This is the most effective drug, but also the most physically and mentally deteriorating drug. I experienced acne, moon face, hair loss, depression, anxiety, increased appetite, but no weight gain. I recommend this but think of the side effects before you take it."

For Nephrotic Syndrome "Prednisone did help my 2-year-old daughter go into remission with nephrotic syndrome, thank God, and she was on Lasix and melatonin and blood pressure meds for a short time. The side effects were weight gain, spurts of anger and aggression, and a lot of whining. She completely changed! I'm definitely looking into other meds if this does come back. Do your homework and check statistics on meds and how many children have been tested using all the meds. Thanks."

"I’ve been on prednisone for almost a year now and have been trying to lean off for about half of that year. I started on very high doses and had no clue what I was in for, yet it did help my rashes and flare-ups. I don’t think the long-term effects are worth it. Just in a few months, I developed medication-induced diabetes, hypertension, and tachycardia, not to mention I’ve gained over 40 kg and have a moon face. If I was aware to be on a low sodium, low carb, high protein diet, I think none of this would’ve happened, and it quite honestly changed my life. So honestly, I would try as hard as you can to stick to a diet while on prednisone."

For Inflammatory Bowel Disease "Age 9, was told I had IBM ulcerative colitis. Was put on prednisone for 1 year, went into remission. Was told I may have to have my colon removed by age 18 years old, and would more likely end up with most side effects. Have had stomach troubles throughout the years. At age 19, my thyroid died. Was told it's like batteries drained of all juice. Started taking thyroid medication. Weight has been up and down for years. Now, at age 38 years old, the past few years have seen more weight gain and skin ulcers. My testosterone levels have been bad. Had to do the shots for this, but mood swings were horrible. Having so much trouble with my levels and thyroid. What else can I do, and are most of these true side effects? Also very high blood pressure, started after a bad accident which had a blood clot."

For Lupus "This medication works wonderfully! I have been taking it for about 6 months, and the only side effect I have had is some weight gain, about 25 lbs. But that's a small price to pay, in my opinion."

For Immune Thrombocytopenia "Prednisone works for a while. After long-term use, your body becomes immune to the drug, not to mention side effects include weight gain and brittle bones! Try to get off prednisone if you can!"

"I don't like the weight gain, but I like the fact that I am able to breathe better after increasing my prednisone from 20 to 80 mg per day."

For Inflammatory Bowel Disease "I experienced trembling, nervousness, weight gain, facial flushing, mood swings, puffy face and neck, leg and foot cramps, and loss of sleep. I was on this drug for 5 months. My stool improved somewhat on the high dose (40 mg), but when my dose was slowly decreased, my diarrhea and stomach pain increased. Now that I am completely off prednisone, I am back to square one. This product was not effective for me."
