Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I was prescribed GaviLyte-G with electrolytes for bowel prep before a colonoscopy. While it seems like it would be hard to chug down a gallon of laxative, it wasn't that bad. I mixed it up with the lemon flavor packet and put it in the fridge the morning before I was going to use it. That evening, I started drinking it. I simply poured 8 ounces in a cup and drank it every 15 minutes. The taste was not bad at all. It wasn't thick or gritty like some people have described. I had no nausea or cramps at all whatsoever. I just simply had diarrhea for most of the night. Side note: The colonoscopy procedure was a breeze as well. The only complication I may have had due to the prep was very high blood pressure at the time of the procedure, which I had to receive beta blockers in my IV for. My blood pressure was the highest I've ever seen it. (I also have hypertension and take 2 blood pressure medications. Maybe they weren't absorbed due to the prep.)"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I used NuLYTELY in conjunction with a dose of mag citrate for a bowel prep for colonoscopy. Most people only share the bad. The hype is overrated. The truth is, it's a little uncomfortable, but it sure beats a stomach bug any day of the week! It worked for me quickly and effectively. I did struggle getting it down quickly and it doesn’t taste fabulous, but I was able to chug each 8 oz about every 30 minutes. I alternated chasing it with either Sprite or apple juice. I drank lots of Gatorade and water during prep. I took a few breaks to prevent nausea, which I did not get. The watery diarrhea is rough on the backside, so I used wipes and A&D ointment that helped a little bit. I finished about 2/3 of the bottle and was running clear in about 4 hours. (Your experience may differ)."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I am a fit 79-year-old. Walk 10 kilometers a day minimum. I weigh 51 kilograms. From the moment I started taking this obnoxious, aggressive Plenvu, I had diarrhea within the hour. Persevered with it. Vomited and diarrhea constantly until I was helped onto the theater table the next day. Had my colonoscopy (my 5th). I was and am still severely dehydrated. Rehydrated at A & E. I think this horrific drug dosage should be administered according to the weight of the patient. There is no doubt it was too much for my weight of 51 kilograms. I will NEVER take it again. Home ill in bed can only take liquids like Aquarius, electrolyte mixes, and tea."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "First dose took 9 1/2 hours for the first BM. 2nd dose started working immediately. Two days after the colonoscopy, I still have very runny stools within 10 minutes after I eat anything. I will never use this product again. I need to have colonoscopies every 3 years. There has to be a better product out there that does not have this disgusting taste."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This is not what my doctor prescribed, but the pharmacist didn't have what he prescribed, so a substitution was made. A horrible substitution. The taste, even with the lemon packet, was salty and not at all good. Still, I gulped down 3000 ml of it before I just could drink no more. The reason I could drink no more was that I was constantly on the toilet. I felt like I was urinating out the wrong hole. When the pain just got to be too much, I stopped. I consumed around 3000 ml, which proved to be more than sufficient for a 150# woman. Yes, it worked, but my rectum was so chafed that I made my daughter run to the store at 10:00 pm to get me diaper rash cream, which freakin' BURNED when I applied it. When things calmed down with my bowels, that got better, but I had painful diarrhea for days after the colonoscopy. If your doctor prescribes this, tell him or her that you refuse to use it. If you can't get a different prep, get a different doctor."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Started drinking this MoviPrep at 11 pm. It's the most disgusting thing I have drank. Every time I took a sip, I felt like throwing up, but had no choice taking it, so took it in big gulps. Finished the first liter within 1.5 hours. After 45 minutes, all hell broke loose. Went to the toilet about 10 times. It was all watery. It's worked absolutely fine, but tastes awful. I wish I didn't have to take the second liter."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "My times to take MoviPrep were 6 pm and 4 am. I, like many others, premixed and chilled before use. I also used a straw to help get past taste buds. Took as directed, 1/4 every 15 minutes. 6 pm drink went well. Approx. 10 min after finishing, I had to go to the bathroom, and soon it came to a point I could not leave the restroom for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I went to bed - should have put on a Depends. Lol. Lol. Up several times during the night. Had to wake up at 4 am for the next dose. Watery diarrhea started early, even before taking MoviPrep. Still sitting on the toilet, and it's been 2 and 1/2 hours. Think I'll have a red target ring from sitting so long. Lol. Lol. Hoping to stop soon to get up and get ready for a fun-filled day at the doctor's. This stuff works. Worst part is having to stay on the toilet for me."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I have to thank those who recommended chilling the preparation before drinking - much easier to get down. My experience was straightforward. It took about 1.5 hours after finishing the first preparation before I passed loose stools. Started drinking it at 6 pm, having taken two senna at 4 pm. My doctor said I would get a good night's sleep... he was wrong! Got up every 1.5 hours, and as the effect was wearing off, I started the second preparation at 7 am. This acted much faster, and I started passing what by then was liquid during the 1.5 hours it took to drink it. Not an unpleasant feeling, not much griping. Stopped going about 10:30 am. Some mild griping going on just before the procedure, which they said was normal."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Not as bad to take as they say. Not delicious, but tolerable. Didn't do anything for 2 hours after starting, then normal motion. Watery diarrhea started 3 hours in, failed to properly clear the bowel, and - 4 days later - is still going on! Embarrassing, smelly - now need incontinence pads. When will it stop? Very upset."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Absolutely NEVER take this. I got the first dose down with some serious struggling. The second dose at 6 a.m., and I started gagging after I was about 3/4 finished. Then I started vomiting and having diarrhea within minutes. I vomited more than I ever have in my life. No matter how many fluids I drank, I felt like a prune. -1,000/10"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Just used Plenvu for my colonoscopy today. Like others, my experience was extreme and extended diarrhea, which lasted into my procedure and after I returned from the hospital. Twelve hours between doses usually means no sleep, which was my experience. Lastly, it tastes awful and is hard to drink. There are better options with more desirable results. This is a new drug on the market, but two gastroenterologists I spoke to never heard of it."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This stuff is great! It wasn't so much the taste that was bad, more the salty consistency! I drank mine with a straw over 7 hours, and that seemed to do the trick! I started pooping after exactly an hour and didn't stop until 11 pm (I started at 2 pm). I was nice and cleared out, and they said I had a 'good colonoscopy.' The only problem I have now is that it's the next day, and food is going straight through me still, mixed with bright yellow bile, and it's so painful! This stuff has more or less left me incontinent the day after! Just hoping the diarrhea stops soon because 2 days of pooping out pure watery movements is more than enough for me!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "It has taken me 4 hours to drink one liter. I felt so nauseous drinking it and thought I’d throw up. Been having diarrhea throughout. Drank sips of water in between. Dreading repeating this in the morning. Surely they could create a tablet to do the same job? I don’t mind the toilet bit. The drink is vile. I cannot give a high score because, whilst it does its job, it is definitely very hard, at least for me, to tolerate while drinking due to nausea."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This was my 3rd colonoscopy, worst prep and aftereffects yet. Was barely able to keep the first night dose down. Morning prep was somewhat better but was severely dehydrated. Lost all color, weak, wobbly, had to get extra IV fluids before/during the procedure. After I left, I drank several large glasses of fluids to feel somewhat normal. Still had squirts that evening. I asked for NEVER USE PLENVU AGAIN to be in my file in red letters."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I took my first dose last night, took around 2 hours to take effect, and the next one at 6 am today. The first dose is a little salty but not as bad as some say, with a hint of mango. The second dose is thicker and stronger. I took 3 sips to 2 sips of water. Everybody is different, I know, and as I have had diarrhea for the last 8 months, my experience isn't too bad. I've had worse without the laxative. Hope this reassures people."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This was far the worst prep I ever had! Yes, less volume, but half of it was the powder prep. The taste was awful. Nauseated. Then, within an hour, diarrhea started which is expected, but I never felt the urge to go to the bathroom, it ran out of me, no warning. Didn't know I was going until I felt my butt get moist, and it was running down my legs! Thankful I had some kids' diapers I could use. Otherwise, I would have had to sleep on the bathroom floor. Did wake up due to a diaper full of poop. The second dose I could only get down 1/4 of it. Never again! This should only be used on constipated elephants!!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Horrible! The first 8 oz, okay, 2nd, okay. Got to the last 8 oz of the first liter, and I want to vomit! I am not one to throw up, but I am begging myself to keep it down. I am chilled. It's okay. Started at 5:45 and already watery stools at 7:26. I cannot fathom having to drink the next liter. Why can't I just take pills??? Tried hard candy-no, tried chilled-no, straw not helping! Look, I would rather be on a liquid diet for 3 days!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Started the prep at 12 PM. I was first given a laxative to take, within a couple of hours, had the runs. Within a couple of hours, I was already yellow to clear. At 5 PM, I started drinking the first dose of Plenvu, within a half hour, I was on the toilet. Five hours of nonstop going! Felt cold during the night, didn't get any sleep. Started drinking the second dose at 5 AM for an 8 AM procedure. I couldn't get off the toilet. I started shaking, so weak I could hardly stand, lightheaded, and my mouth so dry. Needless to say, I had to cancel the procedure. I will never take Plenvu again! Still feeling the aftermath, stomach is so messed up."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Had my 1st liter of MoviPrep. Started it at 17:20 - finished the last drop at 19:20. I've been on the toilet since 1900 hrs, 1st quite lumpy poo, then diarrhea, and presently water boots of diarrhea, yuk. I found the composition slimy, the smell and taste foul.... However, I've had sips of water after each gulp of MoviPrep, which helped a little. That's the 1st solution finished. 2nd in the morning. I have set my alarm for 5:00 am as I now realize it will take me 2 hours to drink it, and then I'm allowing at least 3 hours before I get a taxi to the hospital for CT colonoscopy.... I possibly shouldn't say this on here, but hey ho, I'm going to in case it helps anyone else: I smoke cigarettes, hence, after 2 glasses of MoviPrep, I decided I'd smoke with the 2nd 2 glasses, and hey presto, it sure helped to take the taste away. I thought this information might be of help to any fellow smokers. I will see how tonight goes and give an update in the morning.... Wishing all well XX"

For Bowel Preparation "Have a colonoscopy at 7 am tomorrow. This is my 2nd time using PEG 3350, and this time I made a schedule. Started on the hour, then every 20 mins, another 8 oz glass. I used a straw while holding my nose! Don't let go of your nose until the glass is empty. I had a small capful of Listerine waiting-and gargled after every cup you drink! Works like a charm!! After the 5th cup, the runs will begin! Then don't leave the bathroom-except to drink every 20 mins! Happy pooping!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Absolutely foul tasting! Overly sweet, aspartame heavy, and just disgusting. Plenvu, just don't flavor it and let people add their own flavors with cordial or clear fruit juice because the taste of this is absolutely vomit-inducing. After trying to get this down, the explosive diarrhea started within half an hour, and I didn't get off the toilet for about 2 hours. Once I'd had a break for a couple of hours, gulped the second sachet down, and kept peeing out of my butt for another 4 hours. I felt nauseated and crampy afterwards. During the procedure, the doc said it hadn't even cleared my bowel properly, and they had to flush parts of my bowel. Absolutely useless. Moviprep is much better. Tastes just as bad but cleared my colon way more effectively. My tips are to do this during the day before the procedure and eat clear broths two days before. Also, just drink water rather than black coffee as it looks scary on the screen when you see it! I got this on NHS, so no fee."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Constipation, Chronic "Have had 2 1L solutions of MoviPrep in 12 hours. I've had constipation with overflow diarrhea but no real bowel movement for 2.5 weeks despite many laxatives, suppositories, drugs, and enemas. MoviPrep is the worst-tasting laxative of them all, and I've tried several recently. It tastes so bad even when I plug my nose I can feel it on my tongue and in my face. I managed them down fairly quickly but have had no luck."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "The worst experience of my life with a medication. The taste made me shudder every time I had to drink it. Several hours later, explosive diarrhea, and I didn’t make it to the bathroom in time. Refused to drink the second dose! Called to cancel the colonoscopy. If prescribed, ask for something else! Just awful taste and reaction."

For Bowel Preparation "I found the taste of this prep to be vile, and the consistency was like thick mucus. I gagged with each gulp and eventually vomited several times. It was harder to drink with each dose. I took 12 8 oz glasses rather than the 16 that was required because I just couldn't take any more. I chose to stay up all night and continue drinking as much as I could when I could stand it because I worried that I wouldn't be able to drink enough in the morning hours. I stopped drinking earlier than the instructions because I was afraid that I would have diarrhea en route to the hospital or in the bed waiting for the procedure. It was very effective - by 11 8 oz glasses, my bowel discharge was just yellow fluid. My advice would be to watch how your body responds and adapt the procedure to yourself and create your own pace. I found drinking a lot of water throughout the process really helped move things along. Best wishes to everyone who has to suffer through this."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Took this for a colonoscopy prep. I have ulcerative colitis, I've had it for 17 years (I'm 22, will be 23 this month), so I'm a veteran when it comes to colonoscopies and bowel preps. I tried Plenvu once before when I was in high school. This time, at 22, was an absolute nightmare. The first dose was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. If I could vividly describe it, it would have to be: someone poured an expired, flat Fanta into a puddle in the back of a parking lot. And now you're drinking it. Struggled not to barf but managed to get through. Had many, many gallons of fluid and stuff pour out of me for the next 4 hours. Had to get up at 4 for the second dose - that dose was awful. It tasted slightly better. I literally held the solution down for 30 minutes before violently barfing it up. Today, after the colonoscopy, still diarrhea and bad, sharp cramps until 3 pm. Then at 5 am, I was woken up with severe cramps on top of constant diarrhea."
