For Bowel Preparation "Despise this stuff. I have the generic PEG 3350 and electrolytes with lemon flavor. Can hardly choke this stuff down. Terrible chills. Feel like I am outside in -25 degree Fahrenheit winter weather in northern WI. Cannot stop shaking and shivering, with chattering teeth. I would rather chug a bottle of mag citrate than drink 2 liters of this disgusting stuff. Not sure I can get through this entire 2 liters. 1.5 hours in and nothing has moved yet."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Will never, ever, take this again. The doctor canceled my colonoscopy as MoviPrep didn't work well. I drank 4 liters of it (split into 2 doses) - tasted like thickened saltwater contaminated with lemon soap. Gagged so much but got 9/10ths of it down. Toilet trips after the first dose were loose. But after the 2nd dose, they were almost solid! Hence, the colonoscopy was aborted and I'll have to go through the process again (with a different lax!). Side effects - gagging, nausea, shivers, fatigue, weakness, poorly timed diarrhea (suffering now - 3 days later)."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Oh my God, this stuff is hell in a packet. Took the 2 sachets at the designated times, 6 pm and 9 pm, along with 500 ml of water, followed by more water. Went to bed with no sign of it working, but 1 am all hell broke loose. I was going to the loo every 15 minutes for 9 hours, resulting in severe dehydration, nausea, chills, uncontrollable shaking. Procedure was canceled, and they said they would reschedule it. Not blinking likely they can forget putting me through that again."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I read these terrible reviews obsessively the weeks leading up to my colonoscopy, and if you are doing that too right now, let me tell you: stop right now. It's not healthy. Anyway, I had to take the two doses in the same day since my appointment was scheduled at 6 pm. I took the first one at 7 am, having mixed it up with water I've had previously left cooling in the fridge. Passed the time by watching TV series on my tablet. Second dose I took at 2 pm, with the rest of the water from the fridge. Side effects: the desired diarrhea, a very, very sore butt, and I got a little bit of chills while taking the second dose. Helpful tips: -Take the water very cold, but not agonizingly cold. -Take your sweet time or you'll get nauseated. -Take a warm bath/shower if you feel chilly. -Try to relax while watching Netflix or something. -The worst side effect was the sore butt, so try to take it easy on that part. Hope it turns out well for everyone!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I am currently dealing with this. I'm on the second dose and can't finish it, I just can't drink anymore fruity saltwater, I really want to be put out of my misery. I have dizziness, chills, nausea, and headaches. It is 4 AM, and every part of my body hurts. I'd rather stick my hand in and swish it around the toilet bowl that I'm sitting over without flushing first than drink another drop of that stuff."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "First off, Plenvu is expensive. Other brands may also be expensive. I attempted to have a colonoscopy a few weeks ago, but my colon wasn’t clean enough, so I had to do it again! This time I didn’t eat anything for the two days prior to my colonoscopy. I’m writing this between doses, and as it did a few weeks ago, it did the same this time. I may have something wrong with my intestines because it took 7 hours from drinking the prep until my last BM. I had to go about every 30 to 45 minutes. I read that other reviewers didn’t have this problem, so it might just be me. I’m taking the second dose 6 hours before I have to leave, so that I will be through this time before arriving for the colonoscopy. I agree with others, the taste is really awful. Another thing is that it makes me feel cold. I have on extra clothes and still cold this time as last time. Other than the above, it’s about the same as I experienced 10 years ago."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I was worried after I read the reviews. However, my experience was not bad at all! I started my first dose at 5:00 pm yesterday, sipped slowly with a straw over a 30-minute period, alternating with sips of water and liquid IV electrolytes. At about 6:40 pm, the urge hit me and I went for the first time. Wasn’t terrible or painful. I did feel a little chilled after drinking a lot of cold water, so I got in the bathtub in the master bedroom and got out every 20 minutes or so to use the toilet. I kept drinking my water and electrolyte solution up until about 10:00 pm. My need to use the toilet ended around 10:15 pm and I went to sleep. I slept without waking up until my alarm at 4:00 am so I could start dose 2. The second dose tested better than the first, in my opinion. The second dose kicked in more quickly and I’ve been sitting in the bathtub since I took it, watching shows on my iPad between using the toilet about every 10-15 minutes. 6:40 am now and almost clear!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Plenvu was relatively easy to take. Low volume, not like the previous gallon you had to drink. I followed directions as provided by my doctor. I had chills after taking it and a headache off and on. It started working about 20 minutes after drinking the first packet and water chaser. Seemed to be working well. My last dose was at 9 pm. My appointment was 11:30 am next morning. I was in bed by 11:15, slept well, up to go again once. Next morning I went 3 more times before 8:30 am. My last movement was at 10:30 am. I still had particles in my stool. The doctor called my prep suboptimal in his report. Easier to take, but didn’t work as well. I wasn’t allowed to drink after midnight and oddly enough, I kept having to urinate a lot in the hour prior to the colonoscopy, which was uncomfortable and embarrassing. I will not use this prep again."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Absolutely the most vile-tasting thing I ever drank! First dose was almost impossible to get down. Made me feel feverish, have chills, and have a headache. Second dose was even worse (didn't think that was possible). Caused me to vomit about halfway through and could not finish the dose. Tastes like wet sand mixed with salt water and lemon. Recommend very light meals leading up to the first dose and liquid diet the day of the first dose. Never again! 1 = effective (but horrible)"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I went into using this prep with such anxiety from reading reviews. I have had several colonoscopies over the years, so I’ve tried a few. This was not bad at all. I ate light for several days before doing prep. The taste was tolerable. I did chill it and used a straw. Had lemonade to drink alongside. Had chills, but no stomach cramps at all. I have IBS and was worried about that. Took about one hour after each completed dose to have movement. Oh, and use some ointment to avoid irritation. The colonoscopy was done successfully. Good luck."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Last colonoscopy I had was 3 years ago. Plenvu is more advanced, I’d say, than preps before. I have had to drink awful stuff over the years (I’m 63), and this-while unpleasant-was doable. Wish I’d tried the straw, like other reviewers have done-oh well. It works fast. I was given different instructions by my doc and told not to use the directions on the box. My first dose at 5 pm. I am a water drinker, so I downed the 16 oz in less than a minute, followed by 20 oz of water. Started feeling it in about 30 min, but the worst part was the chills-major chills. 2nd dose at 9 pm also downed quickly, except for the last teaspoon-wouldn’t go down. Straw would really help, I think. Chills lasted all night. Unfortunately, I planned poorly and had a big mess-it’s fast and a bit disorienting-dizzy-I felt a bit sick. Plan well! You may not be able to fix your problems once you start. I’d do it again, I think."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I had this for a colonoscopy, and to be honest, if I did research right when they told me that this was the prep, I would have requested a different prep. I was really nauseous with the first dose and had chills. It did start to clear my bowel. I kept going for about 5 hours and was able to sleep for 3 hours. I took the second dose 30 minutes early and took my time drinking it. Again, I had extreme chills, and it started to take effect 1 hour after the dose."

For Bowel Preparation "It does its job and I'm ready for my procedure. Started 6 pm yesterday, took 2 hours to drink part 1, a glass every 15 minutes (8 cups) with a sip of ginger ale in between, and had 1st bathroom break at 8:30 and every hour until 11:30. I slept until 2 when I had to take 2nd half (8 cups). It was harder than 1st just due to dreading the flavor. Only took 15 minutes after 1st glass to start hitting the bathroom again, but no cramping during either part. I did get chills, but that could just be from the volume of cold prep consumed. I didn't get or add flavor and doubt it would help. Nothing sweet about it, but salty brine water... yum... definitely not. It can be done and get needed results of empty bowels. Good luck and happy camping."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I’d like to think that I have a high tolerance level, but this prep was difficult to take. The first sachet is tolerable, but the second one is uggh... gross! I experienced chills, a hot water bottle helps here, and felt quite sick after it, but fortunately managed not to vomit. It did work, but this is my third time having a colonoscopy, and the other two times, I used a different prep which, while I had to drink more, was far easier and more pleasant. I really hope that my results are so positive that I won’t have to go through this for another five years."
