Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Three times in six months prepping for a colonoscopy. First was SuPrep, second was Plenvu, third was GaviLyte-G. The GaviLyte was smoothest by far, easiest to drink, and most effective in my case. I added the included lemon flavor packet, and also had some hard lemon candies to help improve the taste when drinking. Four liters total, yes that seems like a ton. I drank half the night before, the other half the morning of the procedure. Slept fine, surprisingly. Some bloated feeling, but minimal cramps and no urges to vomit. Overall, not bad at all. In my experience, GaviLyte > SuPrep > Plenvu."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Do not use!!!! It tasted awful and a very bad experience. Got nauseous taking the first one and almost threw up. I took it at 5 pm and did not have a bowel movement until 4 am. I barely slept since I was worried about the delay it took. Took the second dose, again, it tasted very bad and I was barely able to drink. Finally, my bowels opened up! Did not finish until 8:15 am and left for my appointment at 8:45 am. This was also worrisome and frustrating that it took this long to work?! The night after the procedure, I could not sleep because I was still bloated and my belly hurt a bit. I would not recommend it even if you get it free like I did. It was my GI doctor's sample. Big mistake."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Mixed it with half a packet of lemon-lime Crystal Light and refrigerated it. Didn't find the taste bad at all; consistency a bit weird (like watery maple syrup). No cramping, tiny bit of bloating until it started working. Drank a cup every 10 minutes. Started working 45 minutes after 1st dose (15 minutes after the 4th). Was able to sleep; did need to get up once. Second prep in the morning; started working pretty much with the 1st dose. Pretty much ran its course after 2 hours."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This was the worst prep ever. I’m in my 60s and have had a few colonoscopies in the past. Everyone should have this test, as it saves lives. That said, never allow a Dr to push this prep on you. I was sick, up all night and still sick several hours after my procedure. Yes, the taste is horrible, but that can be overlooked. The gas, bloating, and excess are absolutely unacceptable. Avoid or switch Drs, but get the test."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Five years behind on my first colonoscopy, followed by a positive Cologuard result, sent me straight into a panic and a gastroenterologist's office. MoviPrep was the prescription I was given. Shock of all shocks, I didn't have any trouble drinking this mixture. It wasn't a craft cocktail or anything, but in my mind, it would be the worst thing to ever pass my lips! The most challenging part was being bloated because of all the liquid, but no cramps or nausea, and by the day of the procedure, just being tired, hungry, and a nervous wreck! A tip I learned through this process is to filter comments on forums like this by the happy people first so you don't scare yourself out of your appointment! If you are like me and apprehensive about this whole process, know that you can do it. Keep a positive attitude about the prep, take a loved one to the procedure with you if you're scared, and know you conquered a giant by getting it done."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Used this last night, first liter at 5 pm, second at 8 pm. Each liter I managed to get down in one hour, including the extra 500 ml clear liquid for each prep. Unfortunately, there were no bowel movements at all. I was jumping around trying to bring a movement on and felt very bloated and had a painful stomach. I had read that if there was no bowel movement in 6 hours to call a doctor. By 10:30 pm, I was very distressed and called 111. I had a sigmoidoscopy due at 10 am the next day. The clinician gave advice pending the doctor phoning, such as a hot bath, rubbing my stomach in a clockwise direction, and lying on the floor with my legs in the air cycling. I tried them all, and at 11:25 pm, finally I had success. The doctor called at 12:45 am, thankfully, all was well by then. The printout after my procedure said 'bowel prep fair', it was not even a clear result after all that distress. It was a very unpleasant experience, and I would wish to avoid MoviPrep in the future."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Although the results were complete, the taste was awful, as well as the bloated feeling, and nausea was overwhelming. The side effects lasted about 3-4 hours after each dose, I would prefer to use a different prep the next time."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Expected it to taste awful. Chilled it and had a straw, but honestly, I didn't mind the taste. Started working the first time within the hour. A bit crampy, bloating as expected, but nothing to worry about. Wasn't explosive, just watery, but I limited my diet for a few days before too. On the second dose now, more discomfort, but I'm empty already. Drank this one a bit faster, within the hour. Vaseline on the area from before you start and toilet wipes are key. I have a fissure, so I'm extra careful, get off the loo quickly and then just wander around with no pants on till the next time. Every few minutes for me for about 90 minutes. Having IBS, this isn't a new experience, though."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I started my first dose of this at 6 pm. It took me an hour to drink it all because the taste was so horrible. Didn't feel bloated or anything, just became very cold and couldn't warm up until I took a very hot bath. I feel this product works well, you just can't tell me they can't put some sort of flavoring in this. It tasted of onions and fish and rotten socks to me. Will try to drink the second dose with a straw."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I am a 23-year-old female and have suffered with constipation on and off for years. My doctor recommended coming in for a colonoscopy, and I was terrified. I fasted for a day and a half, and that definitely helped things go smoother. It was certainly odd to have liquid stool, but that is the point! This worked very well in cleaning me out for the doctor. It didn’t cause me any pain, just a little bloating and gas discomfort. The prep is certainly the worst part of the colonoscopy experience, but this prep wasn’t all as bad as I thought. The taste wasn’t great, but also not as bad as I was expecting. Drinking any large amount of liquid causes nausea, and I wouldn’t blame it on the medicine! No polyps, and I don’t have to have another one until I’m much older. It’s natural to be nervous, but don’t let that sway you from getting this done!! :)"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "The instructions were very clear and easy to read. In terms of actually taking it, for both doses MAKE SURE IT IS COLD. You want it ice cold (although don't dilute it with ice, use an ice pack if you can). Don't try and chug it. The salt will make you throw it all up again. Sip it through a straw and have another pint of water next to you to sip. As for doses, the 'mango' flavor was awful. It was a real struggle to get it down, sips of plain water were the only way I could manage it. I also ended up feeling very bloated and uncomfortable. The second dose, however, was a lot more palatable and went down much easier without any of the bloat or nausea of the first dose. After effects... I'm a big guy, so it took a couple of hours for it to kick in and took another 2 hours for me to be cleared out enough that I could go to sleep without having to worry."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I have my first colonoscopy tomorrow, and I have been given MoviPrep. Couldn't eat all day, which is the worst bit! Had my first dose at 5 pm, things started moving 1 hour 30 mins after. Started the second dose at 8 pm, which I am still trying to get down now (11 pm) as it is just making me gag! However, it is doing what it is meant to do, so fingers crossed tomorrow goes well! I have just been drinking it with orange squash, which helps a little. Suffered from some bloating, tummy rumbles, and cramps, but it was nothing I hadn't dealt with before."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "After reading these reviews, I was terrified as I have severe emetophobia (fear of vomit), and if you’re in the same position, let me reassure you, it will be fine! I had to drink one liter from 5-7 pm and the second liter from 8-10 pm. Some tips: 1. Refrigerate it beforehand and drink it through 2 straws. 2. It tastes like salted water, not pleasant but completely bearable when chased by something (cordial, apple juice, lime wedge). Create a station of drinks. 3. Sip each glass in a half-hour stretch, that’ll help to not get stomach cramps/nausea, there’s no need to chug! I also paced around as I drank, which helped with bloating and distracted me from the taste. 4. Create a comfortable environment in the bathroom and distract yourself with entertainment, I had Gogglebox on my iPad loudly (helps if it is a funny show as it keeps you in a good mood). 5. Get ready for bed beforehand, in pajamas, make-up off, etc., as you’ll spend the evening on the toilet. 6. Give yourself a pep talk for the last glass!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I chilled MoviPrep, took my time between 2 glasses, tried a straw, tried to mix with flavored iced tea, but still did not manage fully the first liter. The 3rd glass just came back the same way it went down straight away as the taste was overwhelmingly bad. No effect even after partially drinking, so my hubby went and got me senna, and I took 2 of them before going to bed. Now I am in the morning before my afternoon appointment, going to the toilet, but unsure it will be enough. I had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy a few years back in another country, and the prep was much better, less amount to drink, don’t recall such a vile taste, and it worked beautifully. At that time I did not eat 72 hours before, so that was more the challenge. The only positive effect of MoviPrep was that after the first sip I was no longer hungry as I got nauseous, bloated, and felt sick."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This is about my sixth colonoscopy but first time with Plenvu, and I will NEVER use it again! I took it at 6 pm for over an hour, as recommended (initially made me feel nauseous). Just after 7 pm, the bloating and stomach cramps started... and not just any stomach cramps. I have Crohn's disease, so I know bad stomach pain... these were akin to labor, and I'm not kidding, thought something serious was going on. After 2 hours of agony, the movements started. They were mostly over by 10:30 pm, with only 2 visits during the night. The next dose at 6 am made me want to heave again. No pain this time, was just back and forth to the loo for the next 4 to 5 hours. They say they get better results with Plenvu, but something that makes you feel that bad can't be good for you, so sticking to Moviprep!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Unfortunately, it didn’t work well for me. I’m 47. I have had growing gastro problems which prompted the advice of a colonoscopy. I started it an hour early and took it from 5 to 10 p.m. I could not go any faster. I was severely bloated (which is part of my ongoing problem), and it took 3 hours for the bowel movements to begin. At 2:30 a.m., I woke up feeling dizzy. I exploded on the toilet (finally - as the watery stools were slow to come out, actually), but then broke out in a sweat and had to throw my clothes off, and everything turned white as I stumbled 6 feet to my bed face down. I passed out and became “deaf.” I couldn’t hear anything - not the fan in my room - just the ears hissing and ringing so loud that is all I could hear. About 5 minutes passed, and I slowly heard the fan, and my ears gradually cleared, and I was totally limp. I pulled myself up to the pillow as I was sideways on the bed."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "I had to take this for a colonoscopy. Having not been allowed to eat all day the day before the examination, I was quite apprehensive about putting this strange-smelling, lemony stuff in my mouth. Needless to say, I found it incredibly hard to drink. It took me around 2 1/2 hours to finish the first liter, starting at 5 pm and finishing (eventually) at 7:30 pm. It took about an hour for the medicine to work properly, after I was stuck to the sofa with bad stomach cramps. The second liter didn't go down well at all. I was very bloated and felt like I was going to vomit, which I didn't want to do, as then it would have all been for nothing. It's 5 am now, and still half a liter to go. Hoping it will be okay as I'm still stuck to the toilet."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Drank the first liter of stuff, tasted like Alka-Seltzer, waited 2 hours and it started, the cleansing began. Sat on the toilet for 10 minutes for the first round, scared to rise up because I'll be coming back, going to start the second liter, tasted worse, minor bloat and cramp. Done with the second liter, slow flushing system, don't know how many more trips to the loo, hope all goes well tomorrow."

For Bowel Preparation "Bloating, very tight abdomen. Didn't run to the bathroom as predicted. Runs cleared just on the second round of liquid in the morning. Threw up twice. Slept seven hours just fine. One thing I found no one talked about is the crazy chills I had. I was shaking. I was sitting wrapped in a blanket and shaking. Thanks to the nurses who wrapped me in warm blankets when I arrived at the office. Anyways. Get enough Gatorade. I didn't use any straw and was chugging that stuff like a champ. Who cares about prep? My dad was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at 52. I'm 34 and had precancerous polyps removed. I'll drink this stuff every day if you want, as long as I don't have to tell my family I have cancer. Straighten up, folks, and be grateful."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Took the first dose at 6 pm. Difficult to swallow, tastes disgusting. Struggled to finish in 30 minutes. Felt very bloated. No motion passed. Took the second dose at 9 pm. Felt terribly sick and bloated. Waves of nausea came, and after about 20 minutes, I started to pass brown fluid, but I couldn't get to the toilet in time. I tried to get some sleep between the many trips to the toilet but didn't manage any for a couple of hours. The next morning I felt awful and had high blood pressure. I waited 2 1/4 hours for my procedure, with my bloated tummy gurgling and popping. My procedure was then canceled as my BP was 210/106! Went home after tea and biscuits, which went straight through me in the car home. Tummy affected for a further two days. BP now back to normal, 131/72 on day 4. I have white coat syndrome but never to that extent. I had an ERCP procedure 3 weeks ago without a bowel prep and no problem with my blood pressure. Will not take this again."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This was my 2nd colonoscopy. 1st 10 yrs ago. Prep was a piece of cake back then. Used MoviPrep this time, and it was horrible. Too much liquid for a petite woman, bloated like a dead fish, and did not work that well. Horrible taste! Never using this one again. Glad it is 'behind' me now!"

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "Currently writing this at almost 1 am the day of my endoscopy and colonoscopy. Haven’t even gone to bed yet, and I will probably be pulling an all-nighter most likely. Mixed the formula and refrigerated it around 1 pm. At 5:30 pm, I started drinking the mixture, 16 oz about every 20 minutes until I drank half of the jug. Started having the runs about an hour and a half after starting to drink it. It’s slowed down, but I’m still going about once an hour. The first few hours, I was going 3-4 times an hour. Pretty much cleared out. Liquid is neon yellow and basically just water. Have to do the other half of the prep at 3 am, and I’m dreading it. The taste isn’t as horrible as people say, but the nausea and bloating can be pretty brutal. Hoping I can get at least a nap in like an hour or two. Going to be a rough night and day today, running on zero sleep and being up over 24 hours."

Polyethylene glycol 3350 with electrolytes for Bowel Preparation "This cleanse was actual living hell. The taste is horrible. I do suggest mixing it with Powerade or Gatorade, and it masks the flavor slightly. You feel so bloated and shaky, and it took forever to go to the bathroom. Up all night with the shakes and going to the bathroom. Also, it makes you gag, and don't be fooled because the first taste isn't that bad. Avoid this drug at all costs!!"
