"Followed the instructions to the letter, and it did not work. I did not have a bowel movement until 11 hours after the first dose. My doctor had to abort the colonoscopy. We are going to use a different prep next time. MoviPrep really tastes horrible, also. It took three days for MoviPrep to clear out of my system and for me to have a solid bowel movement."

"Nothing can prepare you for how bad MoviPrep tastes. It is close to undrinkable. I took the first dose at 2 pm and the next dose at 8 pm. I went to the bathroom a lot quicker on the second dose than on the first. I felt completely drained after the first session. This is a necessary evil, however, if there is a next time, it will have to be through a feeding tube."

"I did not think it tasted that bad and had no problems after drinking it. I took my 1st dose at 3 PM (2 hours before my doctor's recommendation), and I'm glad I did because I still had a bowel movement as late as 11:30 PM. My bowel movements became clear and yellowish after just a few times. I debated even taking the 2nd dose, but I did so at midnight instead of 5 AM from what I learned of the 1st dose that it took a long time to eliminate it from my GI tract. Also, I drank 2/3 of the 2nd dose within 5 minutes and threw out the rest. I didn't want to have a bowel movement during the examination. While changing into a hospital gown in the bathroom at the hospital just after 9 AM, I had a small bowel movement. (By the way, tie the gown before you put it on - it is much easier than doing it when you have it on. I finally figured this out on my own. How come no nurse ever told me this?). Here's what my doctor wrote about the prep: 'The quality of the preparation was good. The views were good.'"

"Dear God! I am in the midst of taking this product, and while I have read EVERY online forum to get helpful hints and tips on how to make this palatable, I am here to tell you they lied! I am only on my third overall glass, and just looking at it makes me want to be sick. I made it cold, added Crystal Light powder, and am trading each sip with a swig of Ginger Ale. Despite all of my valiant efforts, this stuff is nasty. At this point, I am invested. All I can say is, it better do its job! I should not be suffering through this at 30! Bring on the excavation."

"The idea of taking it is worse than actually taking it. Used MoviPrep in split dosing (4 pm then 2 am) to prepare for colonoscopy this morning. The reviews here helped, so thanks! I followed the suggestion to add Crystal Light to the mix, and it worked great. I recommend 3 lemonade packets for each liter. Drinking the mixture cold in a covered cup with a straw worked well. I didn't find it to be nearly as unpleasant as some of the other reviewers. I ate broth-based soups 2 days out and had only clear liquids the day before the procedure when I started taking the mixture. It started working about 1.5 hours after my first sip."

"I began the first prep at 6 pm. I mixed it with ice-cold water and lemon Crystal Light. Not too bad. I finished the first prep within the allotted one hour. The worst part was cramping, bloating, and chills. Everything that came out was solid waste. I began the second prep at 2 am. This one took almost three hours to finish (drained). But everything that came out was mostly water-based. Also, no cramping, bloating, or chills. The colonoscopy was a total breeze. My gastro called me a lovely patient. The key, I believe, is to have as little undigested food in your GI tract as possible prior to the prep, which is where fasting for at least one day comes into play. (Worked for me)"

"For me, MoviPrep was not nearly as awful as some reviews predicted. My overriding concern was that I needed to leave the house at 6:50 a.m. and travel by public transport for an 8:30 a.m. appointment. Instructions were for the 1st dose on the previous day at 5 p.m., 2nd dose on the day of the appointment at 5 a.m., with the footnote that stated 'if your appointment is at 9 a.m., you may wish to do this a little earlier (do not take before 3 a.m.).' I took the 1st dose at 4 p.m. - these results led me to take the 2nd dose at 3:30 a.m. - I was just about okay to leave by 6:50! I made it up in a big jug and chilled it, just before taking, I shared it out into 4 glasses and just drank one as quickly as possible every 10-15 mins followed by a large glass of water. Not pleasant, but I just accepted that I needed to do it. I did wonder what was meant by 'sipping it slowly', I couldn't do this, and it didn't appear a problem."

"Don't know what the problem is with taking it. Yes, it isn't pleasant, but it does what it says on the tin, and that is the reason you have to take it. The hardest thing for me is the hunger. I can't wait to have food after my colonoscopy tomorrow."

"I'm 50; never had a colonoscopy. Yes, not smart. But needed one now. MoviPrep spit dose was surprisingly expensive. Heard lots of negatives re: the prep procedure, so I researched and thanks to this website, found some good suggestions to get through the 'gross time.' Mixed it with cool water directly from the faucet and left it on the counter while I drank the first obligatory 4 8-oz glasses-15 min apart within 1 hr. Prep had a salty/citrus taste-not good. I used 2 straws, took big gulps, and after each gulp, drank a mouthful of clear liquid (Snapple) to get rid of the taste. Then drank 16 oz. clear liquid. Prep worked quickly-within 2 hrs. Woke up at 4 a.m. the next day; got through 3 glasses of Prep; couldn't drink more. But all was clear for the test."

"Worst prep ever!! Terrible chemical, heavy lemon taste. Took the two liters and water as directed. It did not work. I have used other preps that worked great. Don't waste your time with this one. Went for colonoscopy, and had to be abandoned, MoviPrep had failed to work and my colon was full of feces. All that preparation for nothing, I even went on a liquid diet prior and it still failed. Also real bad side effects. Extreme pain for days afterward and stomach gurgling. Now got to do all over again with a different prep."

"Before trying MoviPrep, I initially bought a different laxative that came in a 4L antifreeze-looking bottle. Once I got home and looked at the bottle, I was terrified at having to drink 4 liters of the stuff. After further research, I found MoviPrep and was relieved that it was only half that volume. I expected it to taste much worse. It was fairly easy to drink at the start. By the last few glasses, it definitely got a little harder to drink, but it was certainly tolerable."

"I'm having to use MoviPrep for the 1st time today, in readiness for the endoscopic examination of my complete digestive system, in the hope of getting a diagnosis of why I became badly iron deficient. I followed the instructions as were given to me by the hospital. 1st dose at 17:00 hrs, and the 2nd at 20:00. Things have started to work, going straight to the watery stool stage as warned. The taste isn't too unpleasant, just a bit salty, I didn't find the need to chill it as some suggest."

"I'm 19 years old, and this is my second time doing this. First time, I had the lemon, but the orange tastes a bit better. I'm now into my morning dose, but I just can't hold it in anymore. I gag after every sip, starting to feel dizzy again, my cheek is cramping up, and I can't even take the smell anymore... If they ever start producing this in pill form, I'll be the happiest man alive."

"Fastest all yesterday in prep for today's MoviPrep, which is needed for tomorrow's colonoscopy. This stuff started working less than 10 minutes after finishing the first 8 oz! I hope when I am done drinking all of it that I don't still feel so hungry for a nice juicy steak!"

"Prepping for a colonoscopy tomorrow morning. First batch down. Actually tastes like Murphy's Oil Soap. Been an hour and fifteen minutes so far... Haven't been to the loo as of yet. Okay, wait a minute... Better go now. Yeah, the river is flowing. No cramps, though. This stuff is no joke. I hope this isn't too graphic. I just hope that the colonoscopy is as easy."

"This was my 2nd colonoscopy, and this time I prescribed MoviPrep. The taste was the worst part, even though I drank through a straw. I would brush my teeth after each drink due to the aftertaste. Aside from the taste, it worked well. It started working in about 35 minutes. I had to do a split dosage, 1/2 the night before and 1/2 the morning of the colonoscopy. I ate a low-residue diet the day before, and I believed that helped, so there was not so much output. I think some people think they should eat a lot the day before, but that just makes the prep last longer."

"Drink MoviPrep chilled and through a straw. The taste is a salty lemon, vile, awful, thick sludge. Use a chaser of ginger ale or white Gatorade. It’s easier to just chug through a straw. Do not. I repeat, do not go far from the bathroom once you start drinking. It started working within 15 minutes, and I had fasted for 26 hours already. And low fiber before that. I got chills, nausea, gagging from the drink and the taste. The chills lasted three hours. The bathroom trips lasted for 4 hours or more but slowed down. You cannot control it. The urge comes, or sometimes does not come. It just happens. Then it’s time for the second dose. I could barely get through the second one, and I’m more nauseated even after a prescribed anti-nausea pill I had on hand from a previous issue."

"Took MoviPrep Orange at 5 pm last night and 6 am this morning, it's now 10:15 am, and movements have stopped. I found it quite easy to drink and not too unpleasant. I think nerves from what I had read made the first glass the worst. I drank it in one go expecting something awful, but it wasn't. I drank the others easily. The instructions for last night were 7 pm, but a friend who has done this twice advised I give it extra time, so I started early. Good decision because by 9 pm nothing had happened. I was getting a little concerned, but eventually, it worked. Up early and took the morning doses over the space of an hour. I have also drunk 2 liters of water. Had four 'visits' this morning and only passed water. Don't worry about taking this!"

"This is the 4th colonoscopy I have had. I will never prep with MoviPrep again. Tastes like moldy salt water with a twist of moldy lime. I literally gagged trying to get this down, and yes, I used a straw. It is expensive! If you have an early morning appointment, you are up at 1 a.m. (for me) to do Part 2. No prep experience is pleasant, MoviPrep is disgusting."

"I've followed my prep to a 'T.' I finished the first liter a half hour ago. I'm now sitting on the throne, and MoviPrep is doing an awesome job. I had absolutely no problems, it is probably a good idea to keep it cold, drink it quickly, and maybe pinch your nose if you don't like the smell. My real problem with the whole procedure is not having anything to eat in the 36 hours prior to the scoping."

"Took it on Thursday evening, June 20, 2013. Taste was OK. No problems. Started to work 45 minutes into taking the first dose. Worked too well, was up all night on the toilet. 2nd dose at 3 AM. Finally stopped going about 6 AM. Colonoscopy appointment at 9:30 AM. My problem was being cold. I wrapped myself up with a coat, blanket, and bath towels and still froze. Colonoscopy prep was good and had one pre-cancerous polyp. I'd use the product again because it takes only 8 glasses to drink, 4 with each dose."

"Well, taking this for colonoscopy prep was fearing the worst, but has been a breeze. No pain, slight nausea, and slight headache. Started working within 45 mins. Deduced a star as I took my last lot at 6:45, and it is now half past 11 and still going to the toilet. I want to sleep, lol. But does the job, and don't be put off by the horror stories. It's easy, just chill on the toilet with a good book or phone. If anything, I was actually bored sitting on the toilet so much more than anything, and wet wipes and Vaseline are a must."

"Taste bad, but it's working as prescribed. I took it before the colonoscopy, which didn't show anything abnormal, but my bowel movement after the procedure is almost perfect. I think because it's working also as an intestine cleaner."

"As soon as I smelled the MoviPrep and took the first drink, it reminded me of Lemon Pledge furniture polish. It has a strong taste and seems to get stronger with each gulp. I started at 5 pm, and by the 2nd 8 oz dose, it had started working. Stay very close to the toilet. Started the second phase at 8 am the next day and had a very difficult time drinking it. I almost vomited a few times. I could not finish the last 6 oz. I just couldn't. I did use apple juice to help, and I took a sip of juice, then gulped the mix, then another drink of juice, and it helped get it down. When you are finally going clear yellow fluid, you are clean according to my doc. That happened at the end of the 3rd dose in the morning. It worked perfectly for the test."
