"Started tonight with the first dose. I’m not good with liquid medicines at the best of times, but this stuff is horrid. The taste I can cope with, it’s the texture and how it feels in your mouth. Only managed 50% before giving up, as it made me vomit, so I didn’t know which end to point at the loo. Will try again in the morning and add more water to the mix to see if that helps. Can you design a pill version, please."

"Preps are not hard to do or scary. Not my first prep. I find just drinking it quickly was the best way, followed by a swig of Gatorade or ginger ale to kill any salty aftertaste. To protect from getting sore from wiping so many times, I use a little hemorrhoid cream down there, and it works great protecting me from all that dry toilet paper. (Just make sure you use the cream BEFORE you get sore down there!) Patting with TP instead of wiping also helps if you would get sore. Good luck!"

"I’m a very nervous patient, and I was dreading the bowel prep after reading other reports here, but it’s been fine so far, comparatively speaking. Prescribed split dose - started at 7 pm, finished first liter at 8:30 pm and the action has just started at 8:45 pm. Chilled after mixing, then took it in four stages about 25 minutes apart. Using a straw is a good idea, as is a chaser (apple Lucozade worked pretty well) but I didn’t find the taste anything like as bad as expected - sweet and intense lemon flavor, a little salty. Slightly thicker than normal water but not disgusting. Some gurgling after an hour, and mild cramps, but no nausea or chills, and no sudden rush to the loo - I knew it was coming! No explosions either - just a steady dribble every 10 minutes or so. I stayed off solids for 36 hours before and followed dietary instructions carefully two days before that - which may have helped. Nothing to fear, I’d say. We’ll see what happens with the second liter in the morning... good luck all."

"Ok, folks, this is really not a problem. Seriously. I absolutely dreaded it, but I would do it again tomorrow if I had to. It does taste like very salty Gatorade, and drinking a whole liter in an hour wasn't easy, but it wasn't horrible. The 'emptying' came on about 20 minutes in and lasted just shy of 2 hours. It was rather urgent, but completely manageable. Same for the next day's treatment. Let's just say it's a good idea to stay close to the bathroom. I drank a bit more water afterward on the second day, and I think it worked even better, so drink your chaser water! Nothing to fear here, move along."

"Was given MoviPrep prior to a colonoscopy procedure. I took Picolax solution 5 years ago for my last colonoscopy, and MoviPrep was much gentler. Horrible taste - you can't get away from that. I took sips and drank the first liter over an hour. If you drink it too quickly, I found it made you feel a bit sick. Also, sipping orange juice or some other drink to take the taste away helped. HUGE tip I got was to use Vaseline to stop your bottom from feeling raw. Worked a treat. Good luck to all who are having a colonoscopy."

"Well, I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy tomorrow afternoon and have been prescribed MoviPrep for my preparation. I am a terribly nervous patient, and I like to read up about every single little detail on everything. I read every review on this page, on every other website, and many others too, and I wanted to give my opinion. It's not as bad as everyone says. It really isn't that bad. The packet recommends every 15 minutes 8 oz. I managed 12/13 oz every 10 minutes and finished the first liter in half an hour, only because I wanted to pace myself. I could have easily done the liter in the space of ten minutes. Currently waiting for the effects to kick in. I'm not overly looking forward to the 6 AM liter, but I'm not as terrified as I was today."

"Prepare prep in advance, adding 1/2 packet lemon Crystal Light, and refrigerate. When the time comes to drink, pour into a cup with ice and drink through a straw. Never had any stomach cramps and actually only went to the bathroom a couple of times the night before. The next morning, drank the second liter in the same manner as before. Still no cramps and went to the bathroom frequently until completely purged. I would highly recommend."

"I'm doing MoviPrep for a colonoscopy and drank 80% between 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Really, really struggled to keep it down and keep drinking. At first, it seemed like a nicer Lemsip, but the more you drink, the worse it gets. It's very salty and artificially sweet (which I hate). It's 9 p.m. and just starting the second liter. So far, a lot of pain and rumbles but no bowel movements."

"Didn't work well for me. I wish I knew why it wasn't until nearly 6 hours after starting to drink the prep and nearly an hour after finishing my second and final liter 'dose' that anything happened (aside from a rather painfully distended belly and lots of grimacing and trying not to gag). I had thought I'd be in bed, finished, by about 11 pm, but instead decided to sleep at 3 am despite that I wasn't yet clear as it was such slow going. What followed in the morning still wasn't enough, and at the time of my procedure - 16 hours after commencing the prep - the team thankfully proceeded despite an 'inadequate' prep. Unpleasant for all. I followed the instructions to a T, so am not too happy with the result. Not the first time it's worked badly for me, either - maybe my body's just quirky. Also wish it tasted less sickly and cloying."

"Can't see what the problem is, it says on the packet what it is going to do and taste like. It tastes horrible, hot, cold, or warm, it cleans the bowel. What more do you want? Except a positive result after the colonoscopy. Go with the flow and get on with it."

"Okay, so today I used MoviPrep, lemon-flavored, and I am someone who cannot deal with bad-tasting things, and this really hit that bad-tasting spot. I am honestly so nauseous from it and feel like I’m going to throw up more than go to the bathroom."

"I could not tolerate the MoviPrep. Pure torture. It took me two hours (instead of one) to complete the first dose. Gave me nausea and could not stand the taste. I had to drink the second dose so slowly to avoid throwing up -- just tiny sips -- that I probably only got down about a 1/4 cup instead of one liter. However, the doctor said I was cleaned out, so it ended up okay. For my first colonoscopy, I had a similar problem (I don't remember what the Rx was), and I made the mistake of telling the office that I had not completed the dose (even though I thought I was pretty cleaned out), and after all that torture, they canceled the colonoscopy, so it was all for naught. That's why I didn't tell them this time (but they didn't ask, thank goodness)."

"Had an endoscopy and colonoscopy this morning (6/26/16) and took the MoviPrep yesterday as part of the process. I actually found it acceptable (miles better than a barium meal) but was helped, I think, by these factors which I certainly think would help others. 1) I didn't eat at all the day before I took the MoviPrep (2 days before the colonoscopy). 2) I took the MoviPrep at home in a quiet environment under my own steam. 3) I made the MoviPrep 2 hours before drinking and placed it in the fridge to chill before drinking over the following 2 hours. 4) I used a straw to drink the MoviPrep. 5) I heavily flavored the drink with lime juice. Good luck if you go through this process, but I found it better than expected."

"I had to use this before my colonoscopy, and after hearing about it and reading, I had really worked myself up, but I didn’t need to, it was no problem at all. I took the first MoviPrep dose at 5 pm and started on the loo at 6. I just sat there for 90 mins, there isn’t much point in getting off the toilet! I was in bed by 8:45, all done. I woke up at 5:30 and started the 2nd dose, it began working at 7:15 am and was done by 9:15 am. I had no stomach cramps or pains, and I wasn’t sick. I made it up a few hours beforehand and chilled it. It does get harder to drink the longer you take, and it took me about 75 mins to drink the full litre. By the end of the first dose, it was just yellow clear water coming out, so I wasn’t even sure I needed the second dose, but I took it anyway. I do suffer from IBS-D, so I’m not sure if that’s why it was easier for me."

"Just wanted to share that I am very happy that my colonoscopy went well. My doctor was pleased, and I got an all clear!! The MoviPrep is a very good product that works extremely well. Just make sure you drink a lot of fluids."

"50 years old, 1st colonoscopy. I scheduled an 8 am exam. I suggest you have an 11 am exam. You take the 1st packets of A & B for MoviPrep (MP) around 6 pm that night. I suggest you drink about 12 to 16 ounces of water prior to drinking the MP, otherwise, it makes you dizzy. Things will start happening between an hour to 2 hours later. I probably had 30 flushes of the toilet before I got to bed around 10:30 pm. Had to wake up at 2:30 am for the 2nd batch. Repeated above, but this time I drank it all in about 30 minutes with another 16 ounces of water just prior. Your BMs will be all liquid, at least 40 flushes before I was finished. The urine was bright yellow, like you took a B vitamin. Good stuff!"

"Most reviews are commenting on the taste, and that’s been the least of my concerns with it. I started my first dose at around 3:30 pm, and as soon as I finished at 4:30 pm, I had my first bowel movement, and it’s been non-stop ever since. I started my second dose around 8:30 pm and drank 3/4 of it, as I’ve been on non-stop trips to the bathroom. I’ve read through all of the reviews on here (had the time whilst sitting on the toilet for the better part of 7 hours), and only a handful of people have described what I’m experiencing. My stomach must be particularly sensitive to this product. I’m concerned that I may have to cancel my appointment if this doesn’t stop. This experience has turned me off ever using this again."

"I'm 24 and had to take the prep for a colonoscopy. I was able to fairly easily get the first half down with no problem, but really struggled with the second half of the bottle. By the second bottle, I was only able to get a few sips down before I threw it up (not a very pleasurable experience). I didn't have any stomach cramping, and the prep worked well in clearing out my bowels. As someone else mentioned, I did have some chills after taking the prep. Luckily, I was still able to have the procedure done even after only drinking half the recommended dosage. Not a fun experience, but it was overall effective! Good luck!"

"I took MoviPrep to help prepare me for a colonoscopy. I was glad to see that it really works because my bowels don't move very often, even with a laxative. I started having bowel motions after taking about 3/4 of the 1st liter. I was a happy, happy camper because MoviPrep cleansed my colon out. My tummy feels so much better. I wasn't that happy about the taste, but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't drink it. I just drank it very quickly. It did what it was supposed to do."

"My appointment was at 4 pm, so I started the first packet around 7 pm the day before. It was bearable but not the best taste. By the end of the first liter, I had really had enough and felt quite sick. I didn't even get through the last bit before I needed the toilet. After the first half hour of bowel movements, I had serious cramps in my stomach and doubled over in pain. This lasted for around an hour, then trips to the toilet started again, which almost instantly stopped the cramps. I was awake most of the night due to going to the toilet. I have now started the 2nd dose at 7 am. Just want this all over now. Really hope I don't get more cramps."

"I'm 29, and this is my second time in less than two months having to take MoviPrep. They couldn't complete the colonoscopy the first time around. Everyone has different side effects, but for me, it makes me so sick. I have to get a colonoscopy every two years, and this terrifies me. I'm very petite, and my stomach just doesn't hold out to 2L of it. I took the first batch at 5 pm, and it took me 2 hours. The second batch is not so easy. I started at 9 pm, and it's now 10:30 pm, and I can't stop vomiting. I've drunk half of the second batch, and my bowel is clear, so I'm hoping that will be enough for my colonoscopy tomorrow. The no eating and sitting on the toilet doesn't bother me at all, I wish there was something less nauseating!"

"I wanted to prove to myself that I could take it, so I just gulped the stuff down as quickly as possible. Tastes like salty sour lemon candy and a little like bitter lemon. Now I have to wait 5 years to have this much fun again. Not a pleasant experience, but I can tolerate it every 5 years."

"Like many others, I was given this preparation for a colonoscopy. The instructions directed me to take 1 x 1-liter mix the previous day, and the second 1 x 1-liter mix on the morning of the examination. The taste was salty but bearable, I added orange squash to improve the flavor of the lemon-flavored mix. I think any addition is guaranteed to improve the flavor as it is bland and salty. Refrigerating it also helped to take the edge off the taste. The first 1 x 1-liter started working after approx 25 mins, but it took approx 4.5 hours before I could comfortably/safely, without fear of needing a sprint to the loo, go to bed to sleep. The second dose started working immediately, approx 5 minutes... It certainly does its job!!"

"Got this MoviPrep with no instructions from the hospital. Great... What a good start. Took the first liquid between 8-9 pm and for me, it was a bit of a struggle to drink that much (unless it's wine!) About an hour later, I was on the loo continuously, so it was working, but by 12, I was still running to the loo..... No sleep because of a bit of a painful tummy and gurgling.... The worst part is the ring sting.... Ring of fire is an understatement as I think my behind is a volcano now. Took my second lot and am now waiting. Use Vaseline as it does help relieve the burning inferno that is now my backside."

"This is the most disgusting stuff ever. How can anyone swallow this? Such an intrusive taste that you can’t tell whether it’s most sour, salty, or extremely sweet. So confusing to the brain that you need to throw up. I’m not sensitive, but this was too much. The procedure could not be performed."
