"This stuff is awful. I took three bottles, and the thrush didn’t go away. I had a terrible headache, which is caused by nystatin that irritated the brain, had a stiff neck, and was sure I was going to the hospital. I have had this for three months and am now going to see an infectious disease doctor. I urge you to not use this."

"So I was given Nystatin for oral thrush to try, as fluconazole hadn't quite nipped it in the bud. I was taking it as prescribed, I didn't think it tasted bad... like marzipan, I thought. However, my tongue kept getting worse and worse and worse. I then began being sick. I stopped the Nystatin as per GP orders, and they wanted to swab my tongue. However, one day in, it has practically cleared up!"

"I have been told to take nystatin to clear up oral thrush I accidentally gave myself from using a steroid-based nose spray to help with nighttime allergies. I didn’t rinse my mouth out because I didn’t know this could happen from using a nose spray. I foolishly got the nose spray from a chemist without seeing a doctor first. My question to everyone using nystatin is how long do you keep it in your mouth gurgling or swishing until swallowing? The directions on the bottle say for as long as possible, but I’m unsure what that means."

"I have had course after course of Nystatin, and the oral thrush just keeps coming back. It doesn't clear it all now. It's a waste of time! Almost 3 years of suffering."

"I developed oral thrush after being on antibiotics and methylprednisolone for oral surgery. I was prescribed nystatin rinse and was told to rinse and spit and not swallow, which I followed. It almost immediately made me dizzy and lightheaded. My stomach was upset and gurgling. After the second time taking it, I had diarrhea three times. My surgeon couldn’t understand how I could get diarrhea and GI upset if I wasn’t swallowing… but I was. It was clear when my stool was orangey-yellow like nystatin. I was then advised to stop and try fluconazole. Currently taking that with no issues (only taken it twice) and improvement but still working on it."
