"30 now, been losing slowly since age 20. It got to a point where I felt I had to do something. Went on the heavy stuff, Propecia, directly, but it completely destroyed me in 8 days! Still haven't recovered completely now 1.5 years later. Thought I might as well give minoxidil a chance. Lost a ridiculous amount of hair first weeks, but after about 3 months the results were showing. Now, a year later, there is no doubt it is doing its job! My hairline is distinct and my hair is a lot, and I mean a lot, thicker!"

"I only used Rogaine for 2 days. At the end of my second day, I developed a headache, I took an Excedrin, and my headache became a full-blown migraine. I broke out in a cold sweat and got shaky. I then realized the Rogaine has a drug interaction with both the aspirin and acetaminophen in the Excedrin. I had to wait it out. As a migraine sufferer, I cannot use this drug because of the side effects. I am so disappointed. I purchased the 3-month supply."

"I came to know that I had alopecia past September 2015. I started applying minoxidil 5% as per doctor's suggestion. Initially, I started losing hair, which was thin. After 5 months, the thin hair was replaced by new hair, which was thick and strong. Currently, there is still small new hair starting to grow. I have used it for one year and 4 months. Superb results. Now new hair has been originating on my head."

Minoxidil topical "This was recommended by my dermatologist. I've been using Rogaine for about ten years, I think I am getting results, so I have stuck with it for so long. Although it improves the health of the thinning areas and may even slow down the process of male pattern baldness, I don't see any hard evidence that dead hair follicles are revitalized. In fact, it is my belief that once a hair follicle dies, like anything else, it dies. I'm 59, and I believe my hair still looks good, feels good, and the balding process has been, at the very least, slowed to an acceptable level."

Minoxidil topical "When I used Rogaine for the first time, I instantly started to see results within 2 weeks. My hair was filling in and strengthening, but when I reached my third bottle in the case, I noticed it smelled a little stronger than the others did and it dried and made my hair weaker, then slowly started to fall out."

Minoxidil topical "This drug ruined my life. The first time I applied Kirkland 5% to my head, within minutes I became extremely lightheaded, with blurry vision. This persisted for a week before I tried applying some more (maybe it wasn't minoxidil)? The 2nd application resulted in even more dizziness, and after my 3rd and 4th application, I began having severe multi-day headaches. Suffice to say, I completely stopped, but 8 months later, I am still suffering from an annihilated vestibular system causing major balance issues and constant dizziness and fatigue."

"I am getting incredible results at months 5-6. I always had pretty thick hair, but in my late 40s and early 50s (where I am now), it started to thin and I was getting a small vertex bald spot. I use the foam in the thin can, either CVS or Rogaine, it doesn't matter. I part my hair down the middle and massage it in along the part twice a day and also a couple of other spots. The bald spot is GONE, and my scalp is just about invisible again. My hair looks great! Just like it did in my mid-40s, and it's been getting thicker every day lately, so I have no idea where this will end. :)"

"Terrible, had a very slight bald spot on the crown, panicked since I was only in my mid 30s and got Rogaine, and it has basically destroyed my hair, everywhere it has been applied is now bald. A lot of money, effort for nothing. I'm too scared to try finasteride as the risk of permanent impotence is not worth trying to regain my hair."

"I started having male pattern baldness. I started losing hair in my 20s, and I could clearly see that my hair was going for good. But I knew I was still in time if I could find something that could keep it. I didn't need anything for regrowth, only for it to stop falling. And that's what minoxidil did for me. I didn't get more hair, but I kept all my hair, and it got thicker, and now the hairs that fall have a root again. I'm 26 now, and I can say that without minoxidil, I would be bald because at 23 I was 3 months without it, and it started falling LIKE CRAZY... I guess I will use it forever or until something better comes."

"This is a warning to all the young guys out there, like myself. I had never experienced any issues with hair loss in my entire life until the lockdowns began and I contracted COVID-19. At the age of 27, my hair started thinning rapidly. I decided to use minoxidil as a first-line solution, and it turned out to be the worst idea I've ever had. Instead of improving my hair, minoxidil made it much worse. I went through a serious shedding phase that made my hair look ten times worse than when I started. I knew this shedding phase was normal, but the side effects of minoxidil were horrendous. Initially, I experienced a rapid heart rate at night and struggled to sleep. Although it never crossed my mind that minoxidil could be the cause, these symptoms persisted for months. I felt like I was having a panic attack, although it wasn't one. Furthermore, minoxidil caused me to have brain fog, dizziness, and depression. Thankfully, I didn't experience any sexual side effects. However, this medication aged me drastically. I developed numerous wrinkles when frowning, dark circles under my eyes, and facial bloating, none of which I had ever experienced before. I decided to stop taking minoxidil, and after just two days, I already feel much better. So, I caution all young guys to think twice before using minoxidil for hair loss. The potential side effects and negative outcomes may not be worth it."

"I used this medication once (Costco brand 5%, applied 1 mL to hair and spread around with dropper), and it caused dizziness/lightheadedness within 10 minutes that are still persisting 7 months later despite being totally healthy, physically and mentally. I applied it a few more times in the following week, and each time felt increasingly worse. Doctors are still trying to figure it out, but it looks like a vestibular migraine (always light sensitive, pulsatile tinnitus, headaches, vertigo from motion, and sometimes random, clumsy, almost always with a heavy head feeling, half-conscious and very fatigued). No prior migraine history, very healthy, lots of exercise, previous college athlete, low stress, 23-year-old male with early stage of hair thinning, and now it's totally screwed me up. I have had most necessary diagnostic tests and am otherwise normal/healthy."

"This is the second month with minoxidil 5%. I noticed hair shedding in the first month of use. However, I am now noticing hair growth on my head. Unluckily, hair is also growing on my cheeks, which I will not mind."

"I started using minoxidil from all the positive reviews I saw online, but shortly afterward I noticed little improvement. In my bald spots after 6 months I had nothing, but now I have peach fuzz. My dermatologist argued with me and said the topical application was working, but I said otherwise. After 6 months my bald spots had started developing a wide range of textures. My doctor said the application was producing small hairs and said if I continued using minoxidil, they would turn into thicker, full-sized hairs. My dermatologist said after review under a microscope that over 100 hairs were growing on my temple. I was surprised. My crown area had completely been covered, but I'm still dissatisfied. Would definitely not recommend, it takes too long. My wife told me to continue the medication as it was fairly cheap and I had no side effects. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to listen to my wife once in a while, she was never wrong to me."

"I'm really, really worried about hair loss. I have been using minoxidil solution for the last 18 days and applying it in the portion where I'm losing hair. I have gone to a dermatologist for hair loss problems, he recommended this minoxidil solution 5% and vitamins capsules. I want fast results from using this medication, but it is showing results very slowly. I am very much tense, I want my hair back. My hair is really important in my life. After using the minoxidil solution, I have small, small hairs that are visible if we notice them minutely, so I don't know if it's working or not."

"I originally used the liquid twice a day but switched to the once-a-day foam when it came out - the foam was pretty useless to me because the majority of the stuff just got stuck through my hair rather than getting on my scalp. Unfortunately, my hair seemed to suffer far more - which was heartbreaking, and I've gone back to the lower dose twice a day, hoping it's not too late to turn it around."

"21-year-old male with slowly progressing MPB since 20s. Used once daily 5% for 4 months and shedding was reduced. No objective data about effectiveness, but I would say it reduced shedding and progression a little. Stopped due to palpitations and chest discomfort (not any other side effect). My advice is to keep in mind this is a long-term treatment and increased shedding could be seen the first month (my case). Another thing to remind is that effectiveness can only be appreciated within 4 to 6 months of usage. Decided to stop slowly for two months and then stop completely. Approximately 2 months have passed since no minoxidil, and shedding had increased a lot, but seems to be more stable now (as it was before starting any treatment). Keep in mind any result obtained will be lost after 3 months. Thinking about starting finasteride, but luckily not in a hurry. Best of luck to all the balding men reading."

"I have been using Minokem for now for about two months. 1 ml each in the morning and night. The first month till the end of the second month, shedding was worst. I was afraid of huge shedding. Now I bought supplements for the next two months. Today I noticed no hair fall on my hands all of a sudden while applying Minokem. I pray to God this will work and I will deal with alopecia. I am a 26-year-old male and hoping to get this hair problem cured permanently if only dermatologists thought about welfare rather than money."

"I was not able to stay on it long enough to benefit due to sudden collagen loss resulting in drastic wrinkles and soft, saggy skin. I took it for 6 months, first topical, but that caused a rash/burning/itching, so they prescribed oral. I noticed the incredible change in skin elasticity around a month or two after starting the topical, and it got bad fast - then I started the oral. My 20-year-old skin may have recovered, but my 40-year-old skin, I don't see it happening. There's a massive outcry against anyone mentioning this online in forums, etc., and I get it, it makes your hair grow, so you don't want to hear it, but I'd rather lose hair than age 10 years in 6 months. Who knows how bad it would get if I stayed on it? There are many, many studies going back to the 80's proving that it negatively affects collagen, so it's not imagined by any scope of the imagination. I've always had thinner skin to begin with, so I think I saw the effects more than most."

"Around 15 years ago, I noticed I was losing hair on the crown of my head. Started using Rogaine topical, first liquid and then foam (which is much easier to apply). Results have been excellent. You have to be diligent in the beginning. Now, I just apply it once a day at night. I use both brand name and generics with similar results. A few years ago, my urologist prescribed finasteride for BPH. I resisted for months due to concern over side effects, but he insisted this was not scientifically proven. So I tried it, and after 33 days, I had retrograde ejaculations. I stopped immediately, but the side effects remain after three years-weight gain, loss of libido, and yes, retrograde ejaculations. Be very careful about taking finasteride. But do try minoxidil!"

"I started using this medication for like 8 months ago, and it did show changes on my scalp. I was not very faithful since I actually skipped some days. We all know keeping up with medication is tough. Since I was skipping medication, here I am again, my hair kind of looks lost again. I guess one should be stuck with medication in order to have full hair."

"Amazing. But do not overdose your scalp. I was impatient and used four droppers, and it works so well. Then I went back to the proper directions. I want this product. If side effects, it may be the cleaning. It helps clean the clogged follicle from fungus? Or what? Anyone know? My hair is much, much better. Feels like hair, not fuzz. I bought mine cash! Well worth it. Several bottles in case misused, I'm not deprived from its amazing benefits."

"I have been using minoxidil 5% for a few months. It's working, but the hair growing in is thin and very weak. I have had hair issues from wearing clip-in extensions, and now my hair will not grow over a few inches. Where the extensions rubbed on my scalp, hair will not grow back there. This medication does work, but hair breaks off and grows in as a strange texture. Plus, the side effects make me queasy."

Minoxidil topical "I had been losing my hair slowly for several years. I tried all kinds of alternative therapies, supplements, and other nonsense because I was afraid of trying Rogaine. None of those things helped at all. So I finally tried Rogaine after my hair stylist commented on how much hair fall I had each time I came in. I was really worried about scalp irritation since I have sensitive skin. But I'm happy to say that I haven't had any irritation at all. I'm about 8 months in, and I have a ton of new growth. My hair is shoulder length, with the new growth being about 2-3 inches long. That looks a little funny, but I don't mind. The new hair is the same texture, color, and quality as the existing hair. Rogaine has helped me keep my hair. If you try it, you need to give it 3-4 months before you'll see new hair growing. Stick with it. It works."

"Female, middle-aged. Some areas of my hair were slightly thin. My dermatologist suggested minoxidil. After doing my research about the chemical ingredients, I declined. Years later, I decided to try it. It burned my scalp, causing a very dry, itchy, flaky scalp with scabs. The areas around my hairline where I used it were much darker than the rest of my skin. I stopped using it, then went back to it later. What a nightmare that was, as all the areas I used it became bald. I had to wear a wig... which I hate. A few years later, my hair grew back, but not as healthy as it previously was. I saw the women's minoxidil foam now available over the counter and decided to try it again. OMG, same disaster, with major hair loss in the areas where I used it. NEVER AGAIN!!! Now wearing a wig again. Please explain, somebody!!!!"
