For Pelvic Inflammatory Disease "Prescribed with this 500 mg medication for a seven-day period, taking twice per day every 12 hours. The pill is disgusting, so don't just grab any drink to take it with. Put fluid (water) in your mouth first, as if you're about to gargle, and tilt your head back and push the pill through your lips, and it will float towards your throat, so just swallow and you're done. My mistake was taking it with lemonade. It seemed as if there was an eruption of the pill in my mouth. I have 4 days to go, and the side effects have decreased, which were chest pain, diarrhea, fatigue, butt numbness, hot flashes, and tingling extremities. My vaginal odor is gone already."

For Diverticulitis "I have taken Cipro before with no issues. First time having diverticulitis and prescribed Cipro and metronidazole. The metronidazole made me deathly ill, throwing up, nausea, diarrhea, even with anti-nausea medicine. Literally in bed for three days. No pain or fever after day 2, so my doc is going to let me go off it and just stay on Cipro. I’ll never take that again. I’m with the other reviewer, I’d rather have surgery."

For Bacterial Infection "I had a bacterial infection in my intestines and was prescribed the 500 mg metronidazole for 10 days. I have 1 pill left, and I’ve never been so excited to end something. Nauseous is insane, literally all day. Metal mouth after every single pill. Didn’t experience much with the loss of appetite. Diarrhea and bloating also sucked. Hope this pill works!"

For Trichomoniasis "I've developed a rash on my face. I had diarrhea, but now no bowel movement and bloating. No appetite. Dry mouth. Extreme tiredness or exhaustion. Depression. I stopped taking it 3 days ago. I was taking the oral 500 mg 2x a day."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "Was taking clarithromycin and tinidazole 500 mg twice a day - I couldn't. I took 3 doses and stopped on the 2nd day - extreme side effects - I was crying and shaking all day, nausea, stabbing stomach pains, and diarrhea. My head was spinning, and I almost fainted. Horrible. This drug is very strong and has affected me horribly. I couldn't keep taking past the 2nd day."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "I had C. diff, which is a bacteria that is resistant to too many antibiotics. I caught this in the hospital. I was never so sick. Between losing weight and the vomiting and diarrhea, I thought I was going to die. Flagyl did help but took many months."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "This is the final day of my 10-day prescription of Flagyl 750 mg x3 daily for a parasite infection, and over the last nine days, this is what I have been experiencing: - Bad or metallic taste in the mouth. - Nausea. - Little fatigue. - Moody. - A few bloating periods. - 8th and 9th days frequent diarrhea. I don't know if the parasite infection is still there, nor what to expect after the dosage. Would love to hear feedback from someone in a similar position. Thanks."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "I was taking Flagyl two times a day for a week time period, and it was awful in terms of side effects as concerned. It started working instantly. However, I was throwing up every night I took this pill due to an upset stomach, which was aggravating because I already was not eating much to begin with, so I was dry heaving. I experienced diarrhea, shortness of breath, brief itching. The metallic taste puts a horrible taste in your mouth, so bad to the point I literally dreaded taking the pill each day. But midway through the pill, I got smart and put it on a spoonful of yogurt to mask the taste, and let me tell you, it works wonders! So if you don't eat yogurt, try a pudding or something like that, and it will be so much better. I hope that helps."

For Diverticulitis "I haven't taken the combo of Flagyl and Cipro together for my diverticulitis a few times. Both times have worked really well. My pain subsides within a few days. I don’t really have bad side effects with these drugs. I always make sure to take on a full stomach with 1 or 2 bottles of water. Important to keep flushing your system with liquids. I take the Cipro first and about an hour later, I take the Flagyl. I have a mild case of diarrhea, but nothing bad. It leaves a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth, but not concerning. That’s about it. Remember that everyone’s body type is different. Some people have bad reactions, but others do not."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I’m on day 7 of the 2x a day 500 mg pill. Overall, not a bad experience. The only side effects I can say I’ve definitely noticed are the metallic taste of the pill while swallowing, which I took after breakfast/dinner. I also had very soft stool throughout the entire week of the medication, and my urine was significantly darker than usual, but other than that, nothing major. My BV discharge and smell went away, so I would say it did its job!"

For Diverticulitis "Some diarrhea, besides that, no side effects whatsoever. I had read some of the side effects, and it bothered me when I started the medicine, but nothing happened while I was taking it. I didn't get tired, did not hurt my stomach, nothing. The added benefit was that I had a knee I injured about 6 months ago, and it hurt almost constantly. After taking the medicine for a couple of days, the pain in my knee disappeared."

Metronidazole for Diverticulitis "I'm on Flagyl and cephalexin for diverticulitis. Today is day 4, and I feel lethargic. I was in the ER 2 days in a row for pain. Today, I'm feeling nauseous and getting diarrhea. I do not know if I can make it for ten days. (I am allergic to ciprofloxacin, penicillin, sulfa.) As soon as this is over, I'm going to the immunologist to test if, after 35 years, I can now tolerate some of the antibiotics I am allergic to because I have lung, urinary, and now this is the second bout of diverticulitis."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I went for a pelvic exam and was told I have BV, so I was prescribed metronidazole. I had to take 1 tablet every 12 hours for 7 days. So I took 1 at 8:30 am and 1 at 8:30 pm for the 7 days. I thought I was doing well with the medication, but I noticed it has a horrible metallic taste when I put the tablet in my mouth. Then, for some reason, around day 3 or 4, I started having extreme bouts of anxiety and depression. I started crying out of nowhere and felt extremely moody. It was insane! Throughout the rest of the days, I was having anxiety again where I was about to delete my social media platform for no reason, and I was getting irritable with people around me. I would have racing 'What if' thoughts and cry when I had those anxiety attacks! On day 4, I had diarrhea and was fatigued. I started having some itchy rashes on my skin and vivid, scary dreams. The side effects of this medication were so bad! My BV has disappeared, but I would NOT recommend this medication."

For Bacterial Infection "This is the second time I have taken metronidazole. I knew when it was prescribed what to expect. After 4 days of taking it, I had sweats, abdominal pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and felt very nauseous. These symptoms will go at the end, so persevere with it! If you start to have any sporadic body movements, then seek emergency help."

Metronidazole for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease "For the first couple of days, every time I took this, I was overcome with a severe migraine. After a few days, the migraines stopped, but what came next was far worse: insomnia, fever, fainting, no appetite, severe exhaustion, dizziness, and brain fog/decreased motor skills. Due to the medicine’s side effects, I was convinced my uterine infection was killing me, going septic. I couldn’t tell if I was sick from the infection or from the antibiotics - neither could the doctor. Hours after my final dose, I collapsed, BP dropped, fever and shakes set in. I spent the next 3 days in bed, unable to eat, with constant diarrhea, heart palpitations, vertigo, too nauseated to speak, unable to do anything but sleep. It has now been 4 days since I’ve been off the medication. I am still dizzy and quite weak, but I feel a little more normal. I hope the uterine infection has been properly managed. Time will tell if the side effects were worth it."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "I've been taking this medication for 5 days now. I'm on it for 10 days, 3 times a day, and I'm being treated for C. diff. Before I started this medication, I was in severe pain, diarrhea, weight loss, constantly urinating. Now my abdominal pain is minimal, I'm holding weight. Gained a few pounds. Still having constant urination, not quite as much, and still having an upset stomach, diarrhea. Now going back to the Dr. to see if I still have C. diff."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "First, just to comment on the medicine itself, I was taking 500 mg pills every 12 hours for 7 days. I did not get to finish. The medicine is amazing! The smell and discharge were gone within the 1st two pills. The worst part was the side effects, and this is why I didn't finish. I was constantly vomiting and could not sleep at all. Every time I tried to eat or drink anything, I threw it right up. I also experienced diarrhea, but that was not nearly as bad as the vomiting. I quit on day 4 because I couldn't bear the side effects, but the medicine itself is really a lifesaver!"

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "Works well, but the taste is horrible. I'm taking them twice a day for a week. For the first couple of days, I had diarrhea very badly, and after taking the medication, I ended up with a yeast infection. So, I had to treat that as well with a 7-day cream."

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "My dentist prescribed me clindamycin - (avoid clindamycin). Nobody told me to take probiotics with it. It gave me a Clostridial infection. Anyhow, I just finished metronidazole 500 mg 3x a day for 10 days and still notice black particles in my stool. The diarrhea and abdominal pain have stopped, which is awesome. I just feel really stressed and annoyed, and I am just worried when it will completely go away so I don't infect my family."

For Bacterial Infection "I took this along with Cipro. After 3 days on a 10-day treatment, I was feeling much better. I made the decision to discontinue both. I had horrible diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, a nasty taste in my mouth, no appetite, zero energy, and sleepiness. I would not take this combo again for anything. I lost 5 lbs while taking it due to the inability to eat or drink much."

For Dental Abscess "Oh my goodness, what an experience. I started these on Tuesday around midday. It’s now Thursday at 4 pm, and I feel rough. I can’t leave my bed, I keep feeling very weak and shaky, extreme diarrhea, and shivering. Stay away from alcohol! Mum cooked with alcohol last night without thinking, I was very, very sick overnight and have felt rough since. At least my tooth is feeling better!"

For Diverticulitis "I am taking Cipro and Flagyl together for diverticulitis. It is making me go to the bathroom at least 4 times a day. After each bout of diarrhea, I hurt worse. Pain was just in my left side, have made so many trips to the bathroom until both sides hurt now. I am miserable. I sure hope it clears everything up soon. Two more days to go."

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed a 14-day course of this medication for SIBO. The first five days I had nausea, diarrhea, foggy brain, metal mouth, dark urine, and an upset stomach. Then my foggy brain got worse, and I was dizzy, irritable, and depressed. This is not normal for me. I felt uncomfortable driving any serious distance, and some days wouldn’t drive at all. I feel just overwhelmingly not good. Headache, loss of appetite, and all the previous symptoms, and now the last three days my heart has been racing! Today is my last day, and I can’t tell if it’s helped the SIBO because the side effects mimic so many of the symptoms. Hoping for the best-would have a clear conversation with your doctor before you start these!"

For Diverticulitis "Do not take this drug. After four days of torture, I stopped it because of severe side effects. Pain in neck and back so severe I couldn’t dress myself. There was also the terrible nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping. I’m now close to 48 hours off these meds and still having issues. Get your doctor to offer an alternative!"

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "I went on a holiday to Thailand and developed a bloated stomach with wind and later diarrhea. The doctor prescribed Flagyl to kill any bugs in the intestine. We know that in these countries it is rather easy to get a bug from foods. After many trips, I finally got a Bangkok belly. After taking 400 mg three times a day, I felt some relief the next day. Felt good. Then the next day, I woke up feeling terrible. I had sneezing, a runny nose, a feeling of tightness in the nose (harder to breathe), asthma, dry lips, rashes on the hands, body aches, lack of appetite, feeling lethargic and tired, along with wind in the stomach and slight nausea. Diarrhea was almost gone. Most side effects were happening to me on the fourth day."
