Metronidazole for Bacterial Vaginosis "The medicine works wonders in curing bacterial vaginitis. However, the taste is not so pleasant. I gagged quite a bit while taking it and still had an aftertaste... eewww, but it was all worth it because the bacterial vaginitis went away in no time!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I would NOT recommend this crap to my worst enemy! I've never taken medicine that made me as sick as I am. I was prescribed metronidazole to take twice a day for 7 days. It caused very bad headaches, mild fever, a horrible taste to cold drinks and foods, vomiting nearly 12 hours straight, nausea, diarrhea, ugh!! I'm on day 6 and I honestly can't wait until my last day tomorrow. It also caused a yeast infection. I just feel horrible. Like, why do they even have this medication on the market? I don't know how I'm going to take my 2nd dose for day 6 because I feel too queasy. I just want to get back to my normal self. I'm restless!"

For Diverticulitis "I was diagnosed with diverticulitis about 4 years ago after having an attack that sent me to the ER. I have been put on the Cipro/metronidazole combo several different times, and each time, the side effects, in combination with the diverticulitis attack, made me miserable. I'm on the fifth day of my latest attack, and the pain is finally starting to subside, but the misery invoked by metronidazole is horrible. I will remember to ask my doc for something else in the future. Nausea, dry mouth, horrible taste in my mouth, furry tongue, diarrhea, and sinus congestion/sore throat have been the side effects I am dealing with. I spent three days in bed and finally had to go back to work, but I'm miserable. I will be so glad to take the last dosage!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've never had BV before, so when I got this medication, I was relieved, thinking it'll be gone in no time. Well, I was fine the first day I took it, with slight nausea. The second day, I felt more nauseated. This is my third day, and this morning when I took it, I was soooo dizzy heading to my classes, I thought I was going to pass out. I also felt so sick from the time I got up and worsened after I took the medication. I have been shaky all day, still feel sick and dizzy. I also have this awful taste in my mouth along with a dry mouth. I am going to continue to take it because it seems to help, but it's either too strong for me, or I am just one unlucky gal that gets the side effects."

For Trichomoniasis "I was on antibiotics for my tooth, then started to get vaginal irritation. I thought it was a yeast infection for which my doctor called in a pill for me. My symptoms got worse instead of going away. Went in for an exam and found out I had trich. I have been with my partner for 8 years, so this was upsetting to me. They gave me Flagyl, 4 pills to take all at once. The taste was awful for two days in my mouth, but no bad side effects. I had relief for about 3 days, and the symptoms came back again. Went back to the doctor about two weeks later and still tested positive for trich, was put on the 7-day treatment, which I am on now. Felt good for the first 3 days, again, now it's back. I believe severe itching. I'm so frustrated, I don't know what to do."

For Helicobacter Pylori Infection "I have really bad headaches taking this, and it's only my second day on this. I also feel very, very tired and have a heavy and foggy head. I feel dizzy as well. I feel a little sick, but not too bad, and I have a funny taste in my mouth. I have another 8 days of taking this and just hope I don't feel worse, or I might have to stop. I also have stabbing pains in my belly, which I never had before."

Metronidazole for Diverticulitis "Terrible experience using this medication in combination with Cipro. Took for a week. Developed nausea, sore throat, and horrible taste in mouth. Had to call for nausea medication and then developed oral thrush in mouth and had to get a prescription for another medication for that. I do think it's effective, but would not want to take it again."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I'm on the third day of a seven-day treatment of this medicine, and after the third pill, my infection cleared up. I wish I could stop taking them now because the pills have such a nasty taste and leave me feeling very sick and weak. I thought it was just me, but I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Took medication, wasn't made aware of the bad taste, so I immediately vomited my first dose. Had to call doctor for another fill, as they advised it important to take twice for the whole 7 days. I bought some fruit roll-ups to wrap them when it was time to take, and this allowed me to take the medication and keep it down so that it may work as intended. This is a trick I suggest if you find yourself having trouble getting it down, as the medication alone will begin to dissolve as soon as it hits your mouth."

Metronidazole for Bacterial Infection "This is the final day of my 10-day prescription of Flagyl 750 mg x3 daily for a parasite infection, and over the last nine days, this is what I have been experiencing: - Bad or metallic taste in the mouth. - Nausea. - Little fatigue. - Moody. - A few bloating periods. - 8th and 9th days frequent diarrhea. I don't know if the parasite infection is still there, nor what to expect after the dosage. Would love to hear feedback from someone in a similar position. Thanks."

For Diverticulitis "After 2 days, the pain is much better. Taking it with Cipro. The side effects are awful, terrible taste always, headache, dizzy, body aches like the flu. Want to throw up but can't. I try to sleep all day to make it go by quicker. I can no way work or drive my car. I'll try to stick it out for a couple more days."

For Diverticulitis "I haven't taken the combo of Flagyl and Cipro together for my diverticulitis a few times. Both times have worked really well. My pain subsides within a few days. I don’t really have bad side effects with these drugs. I always make sure to take on a full stomach with 1 or 2 bottles of water. Important to keep flushing your system with liquids. I take the Cipro first and about an hour later, I take the Flagyl. I have a mild case of diarrhea, but nothing bad. It leaves a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth, but not concerning. That’s about it. Remember that everyone’s body type is different. Some people have bad reactions, but others do not."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "Started taking this medication 3 days ago. The smell is completely gone. I thought that because I am overweight, having a smell down there was normal until I started getting back pain and discharge, then I knew something was wrong. The back pain is gone too, however, I feel sick, not so bad that I can't do anything, but enough to be annoying, and this awful taste in my mouth has altered the taste of foods, etc. However, I would go through this again for the relief it gave me."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I'm on day 4, and all of my symptoms from my infection have subsided, but I have been experiencing a few mild side effects from the medicine. It seems to dehydrate me, as every morning I wake up feeling weak, and my urine is orange/almost brown, which is normally not common. I drink about 2 32 oz bottles of water daily. Also, since I have been taking my doses during breakfast/dinner, it has been making me restless and keeping me up a while longer at night. Other than that, the only real complaint I have is the horrible taste of the pill. I have tried putting the pill in a chunk of jello, taking it with orange juice, and each time I take it, I still get a small taste of the pill, and that alone makes me want to throw it right back up."

For Bacterial Infection "I took this along with Cipro. After 3 days on a 10-day treatment, I was feeling much better. I made the decision to discontinue both. I had horrible diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, a nasty taste in my mouth, no appetite, zero energy, and sleepiness. I would not take this combo again for anything. I lost 5 lbs while taking it due to the inability to eat or drink much."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've been prescribed 500 mg. The headaches are so persistent. This is day 3 of 7, and symptoms are pretty much gone, but the aftertaste of the medicine is horrid. So I take a lemon and bite it right before and right after the pill. It definitely works if anyone is as grossed out by that taste as I am."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I left an earlier review but am now finished taking this medication, so wanted to share my final experience, and yes, I do mean final because I will NEVER be taking this medication again. It made me extremely, extremely sick to my stomach, unable to move, feeling like I was gonna puke, appetite gone, terrible taste in my mouth, etc. These symptoms actually got WORSE the longer I took this medication. I quit taking it on day 4. I couldn’t take it anymore. I finished out inserting boric acid suppositories to fight the rest of the infection. I am hoping that works. Yeah, this medication was a nightmare, and my body does not like it for some reason. AT ALL. I don’t know if anyone here has had the extent of sickness I did while taking this medicine. But if you do, trust me, you are not the only one who is unable to take this."

For Diverticulitis "This medicine has made me feel almost as bad, possibly worse, than the diverticulitis was. As everyone has said, the taste is horrid. It never leaves your mouth, no matter what food is eaten. I can't sleep at all and am having diarrhea. I have 5 more days to go on a 10-day course of the medicine. I'm hoping I have the fortitude to follow through with the whole course!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I've been using metronidazole in pill form for the past 4 days. I obtained it for bacterial vaginitis, and it works so quickly! No odor after the 3rd pill and very little discharge. Yes, they taste bad, but only for a second. No taste at all if you have water on hand and pop the pill in and chug water fast. Simple as that. I made sure to not take the pill on an empty stomach, and so far, I've had no upset stomachs or anything! Make sure to not drink any alcohol, even mouthwash. I forgot and used mouthwash and was puking in less than 15 minutes and felt sick the rest of the day. But overall, this worked wonders, and I couldn't be happier!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I am currently taking this medicine for the treatment of BV. I have not experienced any of the side effects from the pill, but it's just not working for me. I'm on day 5 of taking it, and my symptoms have only increased. The itching is unbearable, especially in the evenings and at night. It actually woke me up at 3 a.m. The discharge is even worse than when I started. I have never had the fishy smell, so I didn't need that to disappear. The pill tastes gross, but I haven't had any nausea from it. I called my OB/GYN on day 4, and the nurse said sometimes symptoms get worse before it gets better, but I haven't seen any other reviews that support that. I was really hoping they'd give me a different prescription, but they said wait it out. :("

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "Literally the worst med I have ever been on. I was prescribed 500 mg 3x a day for 14 days for C. diff. I'm currently on day 2, and the side effects are awful. I'm constantly nauseous, I've had a headache since yesterday, and the taste in my mouth is awful. All food and drinks taste terrible, even water, regardless of how many times I brush my teeth. Taking the pills is a struggle, they leave a residue in my mouth that won't go away and taste absolutely horrible. It's a fight to actually be able to get them down. I wish I would have done some research before starting the prescription because this is awful. They make me feel like I have the worst stomach flu of my life and have taken all of my energy."

For Clostridioides difficile Infection "I am taking this for C. diff. The medicine stopped the diarrhea after 3 days, but the medicine has made me sick to where I feel nauseous all the time. I was very sensitive to light as well. I have a 14-day supply and am on day 12. The taste is horrible and I have gagged several times because it would get stuck in my throat. I am a baby when it comes to taking pills, but this has definitely been my worst experience. Just hope I am all cleared up when I go for my follow-up visit. I am a 41-year-old female and had bloody mucus in my stools, which is what made me finally go to the doctor. I had previously taken an antibiotic for a sinus infection, which most likely caused the C. diff."

For Trichomoniasis "Luckily, I took one pill the right way, but I almost gagged. It's hard for me to swallow pills, so I ended up crushing the other three, and why did I do that... The taste is disgusting. It's so horrible, and it seems as if everything I drink or eat, I can't get rid of the taste. Yuck!"

For Pelvic Inflammatory Disease "Went to the ER because of intense pelvic pain and ended up having PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) from BV, a kidney infection, and a 7 cm cyst on my ovary. I was prescribed Flagyl dose 500 mg 3x a day and doxy 100 mg 2x a day. I have felt like these were actually harming me so much. Constant fatigue, awful taste in my mouth. If I didn’t eat with it, I would throw up. The nausea was constant. The thought of food even made me nauseous. I was constantly anxious and worrying and also had a constant headache. Fixed the problem, but definitely the worst two weeks of my life."
