For Bacterial Vaginosis "I’m on my 3rd night of metronidazole vaginal gel for BV (bacterial vaginitis), and the stomach cramps are no joke. I was fine the first day, just a headache and some lightheadedness, but the second day I started noticing spotty bloody discharge and cramping. I put a tampon in, and once I took it out, it was black blood. I called the doctor, and she told me it’s old blood but probably my period coming (I’m not due for 2 weeks). I don’t know how she doesn’t know that cramping and bleeding are side effects of this drug. I’m so tired, and I don’t want to move. I don’t want to take it anymore, but the doctor said not to stop since I only have 2 days left. The smell was gone the first day, but I feel like I should have been more informed about the side effects of this drug by my doctor before using it. Not to mention the cost of it... $96!!"

For Bacterial Vaginosis "FIRST & FOREMOST BV SUCKS AND WISH IT NEVER EXISTED!! Not only did it ruin my relationship because he thought I was cheating because of the odor/discharge, but it makes me feel completely worthless. Is this how my sex life is going to be forever?! I’ve used the gel in the past (I’ve had BV for many, many years now), and it’s worked before, but tbh I’ve slacked on completely for the few days. I tried the pills & OMG I thought I was dying. Was in the bathroom throwing up, my face covered in sweat, couldn’t breathe & legit thought I was dying, so I immediately stopped the pills. The odor was still there, I drank cranberry and probiotics that you insert in you, which I think worked for a little till I had my period twice in a month with bad cramping, so of course, I had to stop. I went back to the doctors to get prescribed the gel again, so I’m back on it day 1. It’s never been an issue with me, just sometimes the next morning I have discharge. If I had to choose, I’d choose the gel! #BVSUCKS"

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "AVOID THIS DRUG IN ANY FORM. I got diagnosed with BV and started taking the oral metronidazole pills. By day 2, I was having horrible side effects: nausea, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, tingling sensations in my body, cramps, metallic taste, dry mouth. I literally had a panic attack and was on my bathroom floor for hours. The doctor then prescribed the gel, and the side effects were the same! I barely slept, felt disgusting, and I had shortness of breath from being anxious. I’ve never had a drug make me feel so bad, and I’m unsure if I had an allergic reaction or not. (I am allergic to penicillin. Also, if you have anxiety, it will elevate from this product."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I was diagnosed with BV by my ob/gyn, and she prescribed me Metronidazole 500 mg twice a day for 7 days. I took the pill and noticed that my discharge lessened, but my odor was still traveling around, it wasn't as strong. Then, as the days went on... Day 2: I felt dizzy, as if the room was spinning, minor cramps, headache. Day 3: nausea, cramps, dizziness, headache, constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite. Day 4: I was vomiting all night, and I decided to stop taking the pills and called my doctor in the morning because the side effects weren't getting any better and my BV didn't seem to be clearing up as much as I wanted it to. She prescribed me Metronidazole vaginal 0.75% gel for 5 days, and I haven't taken it yet, but will be reviewing."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "MetroGel-Vaginal (metronidazole) for bacterial vaginitis: I started with a white discharge and was prescribed this vaginal gel for 5 days. The first time I used it was extremely horrible and painful. I had a bad stomach ache and cramps, also, my uterus (abdominal area) was hurting so bad. I had a hard time sitting down and overall just getting out of bed. I immediately stopped this gel. The abdominal pain lasted for 4 days, and now my vaginal area is red and itchy. I will NEVER use this thing again."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I have had BV many times over the years. The worst thing for me is the uncomfortable pain and itching. It started after menopause or once menopause started. If men have dirty hands, this can cause a problem, also, their mouth has so much bacteria and their semen. The best thing is to make sure you use a condom, especially if you have a new partner. MetroGel definitely works great, and no side effects for me. A little bit of discharge while using it and cramps, not bad though."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I've just started using the gel. I'm on my second night today, so far I can say it's helping, no discharge, no odor. I'm just suffering from abdominal pain and cramps. I can't wait to finish the treatment and see if it really does work."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "I am over 25 and never had BV before. I was assured it’s not sexually transmitted, and honestly, I think I got it by using a soap too close to my vagina, which affected the good bacteria, leaving the bad bacteria to overpopulate. I made the “mistake” of reading reviews of both the pill and the gel before starting treatment. I was terrified. How could something that seems to be so simple of an issue that so many women experience be treated with medication that causes so many horrible side effects!? Within minutes of use, I didn’t feel right. My lower abdomen was hurting, like cramps. This, along with the many negative reviews I read, caused me to have a panic attack. My mouth got dry, my tongue felt enlarged, and my entire body was shaking from what I think was the panic attack. I showered to try and wash it out, and after an hour, I finally could calm down enough to sleep. Won’t be using a second dose, doesn’t seem worth it. Smell gone after one use."

For Bacterial Vaginosis "I did experience some side effects: the feeling of menstrual cramping (but not because I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago), diarrhea, some vaginal discharge. Nothing severe or unbearable."

Metronidazole topical for Bacterial Vaginosis "Ouchhhh. I was prescribed this for BV. I put the gel in and immediately had cramping similar to a period and a little burning. After the second night, I woke up and the outside of my vagina was raw and it itched. It gave me a yeast infection. I stopped using it. I refuse to use this ever again. Seems like it made it worse."
