Methenamine "After having so many UTIs this last year and antibiotics not working, went to see a private consultant who recommended Hiprex. I have been on it for over a month and feel that I am getting my life back. Check my urine on a strip every day, and if slightly not good, take d-mannose as well."

"In June 2023, I was intimate with my husband and went to pee afterward, and it burned. Didn't think much of it. Just drank some water, and then a few days later, urgency/frequency showed up, went to the ER, said I had an infection but the culture was negative. I took two different antibiotics. The first one made my symptoms worse, and the second one finally worked, but it took five days for the antibiotic to kick in and work. Little did I know, I would be getting the same infection every three to four months. After eight months of noticing I was getting recurrent infections, I decided to join the embedded/chronic UTIs group on Facebook and heard about Hiprex/methenamine. I have been on it since February 2024, and I have not had one infection. Cultures have always been negative for me, but I know I have a UTI. I have had flares, but Hiprex gets me out of my flares if I up the dosage. It has been so helpful, and I am able to live my life. I am hoping one day to be able to wean off and not have to take this medication anymore."

Methenamine "I got Hiprex. I've just started taking them after suffering from recurrent UTIs for a number of years. I take a tablet twice a day with vitamin C. I really hope it works, as the antibiotics are having a detrimental effect on my overall health, due to taking many different meds over the years."

Methenamine "I was getting UTIs every couple of weeks. They made me feel very poorly, very quickly. Antibiotics didn't work, so my doctor put me on Hiprex. That was five years ago, and I've never had a UTI since. I'm afraid to stop taking them in case they come back."

"I’ve had no side effects for this drug. Doctor put me on twice a day. It’s been 6 years now. I was prescribed along with other prophylactics because of other ailments. Bladder/UTI were side effects of other long-term meds. Hiprex helped control it."

Methenamine "Couldn't take these longer than 3 weeks, as they made my bladder symptoms so much worse. The burning and bladder pain are so unbearable, even after stopping them, the side effects are still there."

"It works for me, but doesn't really cure the illnesses. Each time I stopped after a 10-day treatment, the infection comes back! So, for me, it's more like a preventive measure than a cure!"

Methenamine "I was given Hiprex to try after recurring UTIs for a year. After taking 1 at night for nearly 4 weeks, I started getting a burning feeling, especially around the time of month when I get a flare. I was asked to stop, as the urologist said it wasn’t working. After 6 months and researching, I gave Hiprex another go with vitamin C 200 mg and half of Hiprex twice daily. The burning feeling went, and for 2 months I was okay, but recently got another flare, worse, lasting a few hours, and ended up taking antibiotics. If anyone knows if it’s worth carrying on with Hiprex, please let me know, as my GP was clueless. Thank you."
