"I used this medication for 13 days to treat insulin resistance at the beginning of 2020 and unfortunately could not tolerate it. I had anxiety attacks and insomnia every night after one tablet of 850 mg. I think it stimulated my ovaries since I had high estrogen/low progesterone. This was not desirable at my age (perimenopause). I stopped it and continued with another medication that finally corrected the condition."

"I have been on metformin 500 mg since 2015, weighed 212 pounds at 5 feet 2. I was exercising at a gym 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. This was pre-pandemic, I kept a food, weight, and exercise diary. The doctor prescribed a dose of three 500 mg tablets of metformin a day, 1 pill to be taken with each meal. I don't eat 3 meals a day, I only eat when my tummy growls. I eat protein, salad with oil and vinegar. Absolutely no wine or alcohol. I eliminated carbs with the exception of fresh fruit. Experienced extreme gas, bloating, and felt terrible since 2015. I have lost 72 pounds, and my doctor wishes for me to continue taking one metformin 500 mg a day. I declined and haven't taken it for the past 3 days, and my husband noticed I was happier, perkier, and had more energy. I never felt this suppressed my appetite, this medicine made me sick with diarrhea, the most vile gas, bloating, and most recently throwing up bile. I live on salads alone with my own homemade dressing of balsamic vinegar and oil."

"I have PCOS and cancer hovering over my left ovary. I have been teetering on the edge of type II diabetes for 15 years. Which is odd because I consume very little sugar. Mostly because I am allergic to everything. My doc insisted I go on metformin. Everything was fine for 2 months ... then gobs of hair started to fall out. Now I can't get it to stop. Trying Spiro, which has helped. I did lose 5 pounds, but hardly worth my hair. I am not a drug person, so I am now going back to basics, and I am doing desiccated everything. Which includes ovaries, liver, kidney, etc. All bovine. Many supplements and some raw liver from the butcher only. Never felt better."

"I was taking prednisone for a few months, come to find out it caused me to have insulin resistance, and not only that, in taking progesterone, my doctor put me on metformin. I did some research on both medications, and it can be very dangerous. I am pre-diabetic, but I'm not taking a chance on taking this. I read the serious side effects of this medication, and I looked up symptoms of a diabetic, and I don't have any of those, thank goodness. So, I'm just going to stay away from sugary foods, snacks, eat healthy, and stay with my oolong tea, which really helps with sugar cravings and has a lot of benefits. But if this medication wasn't so dangerous, I would take it, but I don't want the side effects."
