For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I do not like this medicine. I've only had one shot so far. I didn't come on my period for two months, now on the third month, I've been on for 2 weeks already. The pain is worse than my normal cramps. I'm not getting my second shot. I'm only 16."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had a miscarriage in August 2014, and in September 2014, I got on the shot to help with my periods, but it's not working. I started my period on October 20th, 2014, and I'm still bleeding heavily as of November 5. I have headaches, and the cramps are crazy, I've never cramped or bled this much."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I found this site and comments of great interest. My daughter had a shot earlier this year and complained of continuous bleeding (not spotting), feeling bloated, nausea, headaches, cramps, and very depressed and emotional. She went to another doctor who has put her on antidepressants and pills to supposedly stop the bleeding, a week on, still bleeding. My daughter is 24 and has changed from a lovely, bubbly, happy person into an ill zombie who sits on the sofa all day, fatigued and in pain. I certainly intend to seek legal advice."

For Birth Control "So I took my shot in May 2020 after my period came off, and at first, I had tenderness where they injected me in the butt. It's June now, after two weeks, I started feeling period pains but not a period, just cramps really bad and nauseous, because when I get my periods, I have to boo-boo a lot, throw up, and I get hot and cold and cramp really bad and have no appetite. Like I would not recommend, but if you have cramps bad, drink some tea with ginger in it and honey, the ginger helps so much almost instantly. Love you guys, God bless."

For Birth Control "I've been on Depo Provera since October. I had to switch to this as I was getting migraines from the pill I was on. I've just gotten my third injection 2 days ago. It's the best choice I ever made!! I know a lot of people get bad side effects, but I got none, I got no bleeding, and my periods have stopped completely, which is a bonus as I used to get extremely bad cramps. I have had an increased sex drive, which is a good benefit, and if anything, my boobs have gotten a small bit bigger, and I've maintained my weight! I was put on this merely for contraception as I'm 18 with a boyfriend, but I couldn't recommend this more. I read reviews before I got it and was terrified, but it's worth a shot if you're unsure!"

For Birth Control "Very effective, but bad side effects. I'm 17, and I've had two doses of it, but I won't be continuing it. I have gained weight that is impossible to lose, I get head rushes, and I feel dizzy almost every time I stand up, and lots of cramping. I stopped getting my period, but one every month to two months, I have a few drops of blood, but that's it. I'm not happy with the shot, but it was effective."

For Endometriosis "I have been on the shot for almost two months, and I absolutely hate it. When I got the shot, I was actually due for my period and never got it. I ended up getting my period about two weeks ago and have not stopped bleeding. I cannot have sex, I can't wear white pants because it's so heavy. I can't go to the bathroom (number one or number two) because it hurts so bad. I have had horrible cramps, I don't sleep, I'm exhausted all the time, and I am constantly feeling grumpy. At this point, I almost feel like nothing is going to help my endometriosis. I'm 22 years old and due to be married in a month, and I can't even have sex because it hurts so bad... I would not recommend this shot, it's a waste of time and causes false hope."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I had my first Depo shot November 25, 2015. I was good for a week with no bleeding. I was supposed to go get my second shot February 25, 2016, but decided not to as I bled and still am bleeding today, 03/13/2016. Cramps are really bad, clots are bad. I wish I had never had this shot. The doctor doesn't tell you that this could happen for months on end. If they did, I guess most of us would have thought twice about having it. I am full of regrets, and I'm more depressed than I was before. I hate the bleeding, it makes me feel disgusting and dirty as it's never-ending on a daily basis. My mood swings are at what I would call a dangerous level. I would suggest that women thinking this is the best contraceptive out there to think twice and read what has happened to us."

For Birth Control "I am month 2 on Depo, and I would rate it a zero if I could. Since receiving the injection, I have suffered migraines and/or headaches daily. I'm so exhausted I can't make a day without a nap, mood swings daily, a loss of interest as I have no energy, feeling unwell all the time, hot flashes galore, been on my period for a month, and it's major cramps. I wish I would have read about the side effects. I will never get another one and keep telling my husband I regret it daily. I just want my life back, I was hoping it would help with my periods, that is why I was prescribed it, and it backfired. Yuck."

For Birth Control "Pros: Effective (always was on time for my injection). No period. No more PMS. Cons: Cramping on and off throughout a year on Depo shot. Gained 50 pounds within a year. Raised blood pressure. Nervousness and dizziness."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I’ve been bleeding for three weeks, heavy, nonstop, and I’m exhausted. I can barely stay awake and have experienced huge clotting. This is my first time on any kind of birth control, and it will definitely be my last. I’m so upset I could cry, the cramping has been unbearable."

For Birth Control "When I was 16, I had the worst period. Major cramps to where I couldn't go to school, bloated super bad. So my doctor recommended the shot. I got it. And since then, I've had not even the slightest spotting. And it's been 2 years. One night, the condom broke completely, and I was so worried. But I didn't get pregnant. I've gained 5-10 pounds over the course. But I for sure recommend."

For Birth Control "The shot is great for forgetful people like myself. Also, if you have bad cramps and/or heavy, miserable periods. I've been on the shot for almost 3 years, and it has been a good run; no period, no weight gain. However, I have absolutely NO sex drive. I feel out of touch with my body and emotions."

For Birth Control "The Depo Provera shot destroyed my body. I took the 3-month shot and gained 30 lbs within the first two months of my first (and only) shot. I have huge stretch marks from how fast I gained weight. At the time, I was very active, eating healthy, and had a high metabolism. After the weight gain, my doctor told me I am at very high risk for heart disease now. I had anxiety attacks daily, and my depression peaked for the long 3 months. My depression continued to be horrible for the following months. I have had no luck getting pregnant for the last year since I took it. After the first 3 months, I had an extremely painful period that lasted a month. The Depo Provera shot literally pumps you full of enough hormones to last for three months. I would not suggest it to anybody. Here I am over a year later, with the world's slowest metabolism, and I can’t even look at myself in the mirror without seeing all the weight I gained. It plummeted me into depression and pain that I hope no one else has to experience."

For Birth Control "I am 21, and since I first received the shot in January, I have been bleeding ever since. Sometimes light, sometimes like an actual period, with cramps and migraines. Also, this medicine has completely jacked up my hormones. I am angry ALL the time, ALWAYS sad. I cry every day, over the smallest issues, or for no reason. I am happy, and in a split second, I will feel very low or even have suicidal thoughts. I experience extreme mood swings and flip out on my boyfriend-coupled with less sex from the bleeding. It's very frustrating. I am hoping that this is just my body still adjusting to the medicine. I haven't had any weight gain or acne though (knock on wood)."

For Birth Control "Depo-Provera made my periods stop after about 7 months (amazing). It gave me relief from chronic migraines I've had for years. I only have occasional cramping now and have not gained weight. HOWEVER, the first two injections sent my moods wild. I was often extremely anxious and sad (this did go away!). I am doing great now and most importantly, I am not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control since I was 16, I am now 21. I was not sexually active till 17. I didn't really have any interest in sex until I was 19, referring to sex drive. Depo was the best decision I ever made the first 3 years, then my body started having random cramps from time to time. I could be walking and I would have to stop for 2 minutes. I wouldn't move. I would have discharge. I had 2-day periods for 2 years every 3 months right before my next shot. Now I'll spot for a couple of weeks. I started at 112, now I'm 121. I never had a problem with gaining weight. I'm still not pregnant. So I'll stay on this because the pros outweigh the cons."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I was bleeding heavily for 8 months non-stop! Please don't use this method! It is absolutely horrible and ruined my life. Had major cramps, clumps and clumps of blood, wasted so much money buying thick diapers and tampons because I was bleeding that much! Initially, they put me on birth control pills to stop the bleeding, but because I requested really low dosage, it didn't do its job. I stopped taking it thinking it would mess me up even more because I'm putting more hormones in my body. I was under the impression it would go away eventually, but after 7 months of bleeding, I finally went to see a gynecologist, and she gave me higher dosage birth control pills to stop the bleeding! After a month of being on the pills, it finally stopped! Thank God! Miserable from Jan 16 to Aug 16."

For Birth Control "I've been on the Depo shot for a year and a half now, and I have been bleeding ever since I took it. I have experienced a lot of weight gain and depression and tons of mood swings. You get cramps every day as if you just got your period. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like bleeding. Might work for some people, but not for me."

For Birth Control "Depo as a birth control, I guess it worked, everything else just went wrong! I only had one shot and don't think I will ever go back. Within two weeks of getting the injection, I got really bad headaches, depressed, abdominal cramps, flash bleeding, vomiting, unstable gait, memory loss, my face broke out, lost a bunch of weight, optic nerve damage. I went into SVT, and the list goes on. My whole life turned upside down. So yes, it may work for some people with no side effects, but it has damaged my life."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've only had 3 shots from Dec 2014 to my last one May 2015. After the first shot, my periods stopped completely, no pain, nothing. Also took care of my cyst problems. Used to get horribly large cysts that didn't erupt properly or in a timely manner. So that has been really nice, not having to go through that pain for weeks. Second shot, still going strong, no problems, just a little boob soreness at times. Third shot, here we go - weight gain, lots of hair loss, cramps with bad shooting pain, boob soreness/pain when bending over, brown spotting to heavy brown, which I have never in my life had (I'm 30) for weeks now. Headaches, mood swings - very emotional at times. Going to the doctor 7/22/15, I might just get off the shot. #Listen to your body."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I got on the shot on October 7th, 2014. I thought it would end my periods, but I ended up bleeding every day for six months straight. My third shot, that I got on April 8th, 2015, ended the bleeding for about a month and a half, and now I'm bleeding again, and this time I'm having cramps as if I'm on my period. My next shot is on July 8th, and I will not be going through with it. The depo shot just ruins your body, I hate it."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My experience with this medication started when I was 14 years old. I knew nothing about this medication, and I wish someone would have sat down and told me what exactly this medication does! I decided for the third time to try to get off this medication, I finally decided this time it was enough, so my last shot was October 2016. The beginning was great, I was happy-go-lucky, outgoing, had my life back after having a breast reduction. No period, no cramps, gained a few pounds, but it was worth it at the time for freedom. Now, at 23, I've been in the hospital and given three pills at once. I've soaked through over 10 pads a day and blood clots after blood clots: depression, weight gain, acne, severe cramps, dizziness, tiredness, and withdrawals from this medication."

For Endometriosis "I've been on Depo for almost two years now and have not had a period since I got the injection. I no longer have the debilitating cramps that I would get each month, which is a godsend. After I'm first given the shot, I have about 5-7 days of being a little more emotional than usual, but it's usually due to my hormones being balanced and changing a little, but it just means a bit of crying and basically how I used to be emotionally before a period. I have noticed that some nights I wake up with a really extreme cramp out of nowhere, but I believe that that might be an issue that's more to do with my hormone levels, etc. Either way, Depo has definitely spared me from weeks spent in bed because of the painful cramps!"

For Birth Control "I got this Depo-Provera shot in May on the first day of my period, and it stopped. Ever since then, I have been moody, have had cramps all day. It’s June now, and I’ve started spotting bright red. I’ve been feeling anxious all the time as well. Please don’t do this to your body!"
