For Bowel Preparation "Whoever said the only thing worse than taking it is taking the second dose had it right. It's salty and disgusting. I mixed it with Lemon Crystal Lite, which helped. The difficult part is chasing it with another 16 oz of water. You get so full you may vomit. Once it starts working, it's not bad. No cramps, no 'near misses.' Overall, a barbaric experience I hope to never repeat. Rated 10 for the effectiveness, 0 for the experience, so the average rate is 5."

For Bowel Preparation "I avoided a repeat colonoscopy for 20+ years because the prep (with Fleet) was so unpleasant. This was way better. Prep #1, 6 pm: I drank relatively small amounts at a time. Vitamin Water Zero lemonade cut the taste. It started to work within 20-25 minutes and was mostly done in about an hour. No gas or cramps, just some gurgles. A little more over the next few hours. Easy. Prep #2 at 5 am: Not so good. I think I was trying to glug it too fast. Used the same chaser. Got the wrong result in 20-25 minutes: I threw up. A lot. But the Suprep still finished the job. Tips: During prep, wear pants or shorts with an elastic waistband. You won't have time to fuss with snaps/buttons/zipper. Don't leave the bathroom until you're positive you're done. I almost got caught one time, and I was only 20 feet from the toilet. Have in reach lots of reading material/music/videos plus the 32 oz. you need to drink over the next hour. Vitamin Water Zero lemonade was a good chaser."

For Bowel Preparation "The stuff works, no question there. But the taste of it is absolutely horrendous, and I'm due to drink the second round in about 30 minutes and am full of dread. When I started the first one, I was immediately thinking that I'd have to call the doctor's office and say I couldn't do it. There is simply no excuse for something to taste like this. My upper lip was sweating, I was shivering, the taste was enough to make me gag, though likely not vomit. Other preps have worked just as well in the past but did not taste this bad."

For Bowel Preparation "This bowel prep was a disgusting experience and major failure. The problem is that it tastes like a very strong cherry cough syrup. Diluting it with water didn't work for me. I got a few ounces down before my gag reflexes kicked in. Called the doctor's office and the nurse told me to mix it with some juice. I mixed it with juice and lots of ice and drank as much as I could get down with a straw. After I got it down, I had sips of iced tea, cola, and a popsicle to try to get the taste out of my mouth so I could finish the rest of the dose. None of this worked. On my final attempt, I vomited."

For Bowel Preparation "After my last experience that caused me to projectile vomit onto my dogs, I simply refer to this as the evil juice. It did not win this time! Most important, get an RX for Zofran and take it 30 min before. Refrigerate the evil juice overnight. Mix with cold water from the fridge. Pour the mixed solution into another cup so you have 2-8 oz glasses. Put on 'Eye of the Tiger' or Eminem's 'Not Afraid.' Insert cotton balls in your nose. Chug the liquid, followed by biting on a plain cold lemon wedge. Put yourself back in college and go for it! I got it down in 3 chugs! I broke up the additional water you need to drink into 4-8 oz glasses, psychologically easier. Zofran is truly the antivenom! If I can do it, you can too!"

For Bowel Preparation "My doctor prescribes it for use before a colonoscopy procedure. This medicine is excellent for its intended use. But the directions should be customized depending on person weight. I took the first dose with no problem because I had other liquids at my stomach. I am about 137 pounds, and when I drank the second dose during the morning, it caused me nausea, and during taking the last portion, I started vomiting, and I thought I would not be able to have the study. I continued to take the water as indicated. Nevertheless, I had about three hours in the bathroom, and the colonoscopy was performed without problems. I suggest that the manufacturer should study a better method to drink it; evaluate if it could be taken more diluted."

For Bowel Preparation "The taste is so bad I had to try to keep from throwing most of it back up. WHY in the world would they add that awful 'fruity' flavor? Miralax doesn't taste like anything, take note SurePrep! Seriously, some of the most disgusting flavored stuff I've ever had the misfortune of drinking. Vomited some of it back up, but luckily got most of it down. It worked to clear things out, but at what cost? Just spent 4 hours walking around my living room trying not to throw up! I'll go back to the old method, thank you. Expensive and disgusting!"

For Bowel Preparation "I have been having colonoscopies since I’ve been 20, and I’m now 42. I have never had prep that was this disgusting, or I couldn’t finish. After the first sip, I started vomiting, and I couldn’t keep it down. I got halfway through after 2 hours, and I noticed that I barely kept anything in. I also have spinal problems, and the vomiting was putting me in spasms and making my pain worse, so I stopped. This prep was absolutely disgusting! I couldn’t believe how sick I got from it. Just the smell repulsed me, but every sip I would throw up and then kept vomiting after that. I’d try to drink more, and it just kept happening. My mom told me to stop way before I even gave up. Like I said, I’ve been doing this for a long time because my family has a history, and unfortunately, I’m having trouble right now that I need the test, it’s not just my yearly routine one. So we will try again, but with other prep."

For Bowel Preparation "This medication was horrible. The taste was really bad. I would not recommend it at all. I threw up several times while drinking this. But I am not good with liquid preps, so that may be why. I even tried mixing it with 7-Up. This has a horrible, disgusting taste to it."

For Bowel Preparation "Man, this stuff tastes horrible! Almost as bad as some thick cough syrup or Imodium or Mylanta. I mixed mine with diet ginger ale (of course with approval from my doctor). However, it managed to work very quickly. I was in the restroom within 20 mins after consuming it. No cramping, but I did gag a few times as I was drinking it. I managed to suck on lemons in between sips, which also helped a lot. It works, but the taste and then drinking the two bottles of water afterwards is tough! Beware."

For Bowel Preparation "This stuff is awful. My doctor refused to let me just do the pills because 'they don't work.' He gave me Suprep because it was less liquid to drink than the Golytely. This tastes like the L'Oréal No Tears No Tangles shampoo from the '90s smells. It is sour, sweet, and salty all at once. I gagged trying to get the first 16 oz down, but managed not to vomit. I am dreading the second dose at 8 o'clock this evening. This is my first bowel prep experience and I hope to never repeat it. I am absolutely miserable. The best part is that even if everything runs clear, I still have to drink all of this awful stuff."

For Bowel Preparation "Lemon wedges!! It really works to suck on/lick a lemon wedge in between drinks of this nasty stuff. But, if you didn't do that and you vomited it up - get Miralax for the 2nd dose (if you wasted the first). That's what I ended up doing, but the 2nd dose of Suprep went down much easier when I went slower, sucked on the lemon, and used a straw."

For Bowel Preparation "I've only taken the first bottle, and already my bowels are clear. I'm wondering if I can get away with drastically reducing the second dose because it is horrible. I had to pay $98 for the worst medicine I've ever had, and this is my second colonoscopy. My first time I took the great big jugs, and it tasted much better but had to drink a lot more. I'm not sure I will be able to get the second dose down without throwing up. I'll try to follow up afterwards."

For Bowel Preparation "I fought to get the 1st bottle down, plus two 16 oz bottles of water. The action hit within 15 minutes... every 2 to 5 minutes. By the time I had to take the 2nd bottle, I was so nauseated after every attempt I threw it up. I laid on the bathroom floor and finally called the doctor at midnight. She said to keep trying to drink it, so I spent all night throwing up and still emptying my bowels. I had to cancel the colonoscopy this morning after 17 hours of pure awfulness for me, and still am in the bathroom every 5 minutes and can't even keep water down. I don't think I can ever look at lemon-lime anything ever again..."

For Bowel Preparation "I just took the 5 pm dose and threw it all up. I wish someone would have talked to me about this possibility and maybe coached me with some of the tips I've read in this forum. Now I have the second dose, which I am supposed to take in the morning, but should I just do it now? I don't know if I can keep it down. I have a call in to the surgery center, but I don't know if I'll hear back tonight."

For Bowel Preparation "I didn't have a good experience. Was violently ill with chills, vomiting, and a terrible headache. I drank lots of water, iced tea, and ginger ale, but I couldn't finish the prep. I'd rather use Fleet's Phospho Soda and Fleet's enema."

For Bowel Preparation "Suprep tastes like very salty Gatorade, and I’m sensitive to tastes, so I had a hard time getting it down. Once I got it down, I immediately felt nauseous. After about 45 minutes, I vomited. But to my surprise, I’m now passing stool like I’m supposed to be. I would recommend an anti-nausea drug before taking this prep. The taste isn’t the worst, but also just gets worse and harder to tolerate the more of it you drink. I also had terrible stomach pain, which subsided after vomiting. Would definitely recommend drinking it out of a straw and having a chaser. Then, chew gum afterwards to get rid of the aftertaste."

For Bowel Preparation "The first prep went pretty smoothly. The taste is weird but was tolerable (be sure to refrigerate it), and the BMs started after about 15 minutes and lasted on/off for 3 hours. The second prep, at 1:30 a.m.! was a disaster. The taste bothered me this time, but I finished it. BMs started shortly, and 5 hours later I’m still in and out of the bathroom. As well, at about 2:30, I vomited several times and could not control the bowels while doing so. This was awful! Shower, laundry, clean-up of the bathroom, in addition to general discomfort and tiredness."

For Bowel Preparation "So thankful for this website, it definitely eased my mind prior to the prep and procedure! Overall, this experience was pretty easy and pain-free. The Suprep was pretty gross (salty, grape flavor), and the 1st bottle is much easier going down than the 2nd. I did throw up with both but managed to keep most of it down. It worked and worked quickly! The best advice I read was to eat lightly a couple of days prior, and it made things so much easier and tolerable. I kept plenty of fluids (Gatorade, ginger ale, apple juice), butterscotch candy, and chicken broth. As far as the procedure, I was beyond nervous, and it was complete cake! Staff was great, explained step by step, gave me meds (completely sedated), and next thing I knew, it was over and I was awake!"

For Bowel Preparation "The prep drink tastes like sweat and flowery air freshener combined. Could only drink 2/3 of the first prep (even with chugging 3 bottles of water). Currently in the process of trying to get the second prep down, but I start to gag and dry heave from the taste. It’s been an hour, and I can barely get 1/4 of it down. The physical part seems to be going as planned, I am only seeing almost clear liquid-so I’m calling it done! Will not drink this again!"

For Bowel Preparation "The Suprep Bowel Prep Kit product works, but the taste is intolerable. The FAQs state to only dilute with water, but it doesn't make a difference what you use (as long as it is clear, of course), it is the worst sugary, sweet, salty drink I have ever had to endure. I was unfortunate enough to drink it twice in 3 weeks, and just tasting the first sip the second time started the dry heaves. I do sip on broth while drinking it, and that makes it easier to keep down for me, anyway."

For Bowel Preparation "This had to be the worst experience I have ever had in my life. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy that had to be canceled. I started the prep at 5 PM, as instructed. The 2nd prep was to start at 8 PM. I became violently ill. Projectile vomit, like in the Exorcist. I could not keep it down. I called the GI that was on call, who happened to be the one that was going to do my procedure, and he told me that it was 'normal' and not to worry. Normal? If you can, I strongly suggest you steer clear of this product."

For Bowel Preparation "I got through the prep as most others have written. It's a tolerable prep to get down and a little easier if your stomach is relatively empty. My problem came the next day after my procedure. I was okay initially, but for several hours after the procedure, I felt sick all over and very nauseous. In the evening, I finally vomited and then began to feel better. Still had the taste of the prep when vomiting. Diarrhea has continued for three days after the procedure."

For Bowel Preparation "First off, Suprep cleans you out very effectively, which is appealing for GI docs as it makes their job possible. The downside (for the patient) is the taste, which is an absolutely appealing cherry cough syrup, saltwater horror show. I'm honestly amazed I didn't vomit. Tips: keeping the stuff as cold as possible and sucking on a lemon between gulps is a help, but leaving out the cherry flavoring would have been a big plus, people."
